I listened to the interview, it said nothing about hydrogel... How do we know if they're talking about something else, JHU does like over 200 different labs each year, how do we know this is hydrogel specific, if I'm mistaken, please refer me to the timestamp at which the speaker spoke about the hydrogel research. Thanks.

Justaboy, I assume you are maybe talking to JT1986, and/or me, and/or Repola? If you are not referring to me ignore this post.

I’ll assume you are talking to me, and with respect I’ll answer you. So what is the pod cast mainly about? It is primarily a discussion with an entrepreneur about investing in a specific region in the US, nothing out of tune with the other website interviews, which you can see... On to the gel, the gel is referenced and indirectly referred to many times; beginning with the lead. The lead which is the synopsis to the pod cast. This lead, by mentioning the company which is developing the gel, guides us that a segment of the pod cast will be going over or at the least referencing that product, and then building an interview or part of an interview from that productin some way, at least secondarily.... You can read the lead from the web page: http://earlyinvestin...7-george-davis/

Back to the references, with regards to the lead again; in the lead, it mentions Gemstone which has one product... This reference answers your hydrogel query immediately... In fact the gel cannot fail to be referenced because of that verified instance in the lead. So straight away you can see the gel is referenced just by reading the lead which references gemstone… Going on and all that being said, in the pod cast, prior to the interview the host Peter Clough introduces the interview, by talking about the fact that 'Gemsone' is working on a treatment that is currently being tested on animals... This is another reference and so on, btw, it also gives the current state... And with regards to JT1986 if you listen from 15 minutes, you’ll see what he has said, is referenced fairly, so if you are opinionating to him, he is also referenced.

Thanks for your reply! How long do you think the ETA for hydrogel would be? IMO, I think maybe one or two years, and it will be popularized the year after, making it as affordable as buying mederma. Btw, why does hydrogels interest you if I may ask? For me, I want good skin, and for everyone to be "cured" of acne scars, and the "emotional pain" caused by it. :)

As seabs said, the interview's content and references to ongoing research makes it pretty obvious that they are discussing what Davis has called the "foundation technology" of Gemstone, the DEX-AE hydrogel.

I would love for something like this to be out asap, I keep imagining that a word of mouth or some passed on public knowledge would get something out faster or push things along... I'm probably seriously naive in that respect. And not many get my way of thinking. Regarding your prediction, I reckon you'll be roughly right in your prediction, as your predictions are similar to what has been stated in various sources if it goes through the trial process. BTW,  the hydrogel interests me as it got regeneration of a full thickness wound, as I have scarring I found it interesting, but I'm fair weathered, I'm interested in anything that has that type of qualification in the science.

Another stem cell article (two links for the same finding), sounds promising but likely sensationalized:

Sounds so much more promising than hydrogel... But still in basic research... Whatever that means! XD I don't think there may be a cure within the next year or two, but we can hope. Lol.

Scars are not skin, you can get scars in almost any part of the body, liver, lungs, skin etc. If the damage is deep enough the organ can not regenerate and the body creates a scar. Dextran hydrogel is a scaffolding that helps the body to create new skin instead of scar tissue.
Actually is a kind of ECM that mimics the embryonic skin niche for intact skin regeneration.

What is your ETA for hydrogel? Do you think that it will come soon? Angiogenic healing sounds crazy, and how can hydrogel facilitate the growth of specialized skin cells onto one area?

Earlier this year they were talking about starting human trials possibly by the end of the year. That is definitely too early given that we've heard nothing from them since they reported about it earlier this year.

They also said that the pig tests should finish by the summer. That could have happened (given the care needed to properly peer review the findings), but it's radio silence about that too.

Nobody knows anything for certain atm. It could be that they are being really careful and being quiet, or some complication emerged, or that it doesn't work -- but they seemed optimistic last time they spoke about it.

I'd say if we're lucky, 2-5 years from now, if at all.

Something big will come in less than 10 years with the way things are (exponentially) advancing. We live in exciting times.
