Scarless Healing

wow that's harsh Ylem, sorry to read that, spending thousands without any change you believe. Not even a slight change in appearance for you ?

You seem like you speak from experience so would you say the best therapy for scarring is gradually accept things as is ?

FYI, Gemstone (the startup that is funding the DEX/AE HG trials) just announced that one of Gerecht Lab's alumni has joined their Technical Team. His name is Matt Davenport and he is a chemical and biomolecular engineer. In April, Gemstone announced that they would be hiring engineers this summer and it seems that they are accomplishing that goal.

The fact that they are hiring is a good sing. It's CEO, George Davis, has noted that their current research is based on the DEX/AE HG (as their foundation technology) and they would not be hiring staff if the trials were flopping.

Good news for sure. Probably looking to do a lot of hiring to get ready to scale up production for the veterinary market (at least).

Still looking forward to hearing about how the trials have progressed in pigs.

@golfphanter, why are u calling people pigs?

As Repola said, the trials currently being conducted are on pigs, not people.

Gerecht Lab's latest paper was published today: http://m.dev.biologists.org/content/141/14/2760.abstract

The abstract discusses biomaterials, angiogenesis and tissue regeneration: "The formation of vasculature is essential for tissue maintenance and regeneration. During development, the vasculature forms via the dual processes of vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, and is regulated at multiple levels: from transcriptional hierarchies and protein interactions to inputs from the extracellular environment. Understanding how vascular formation is coordinated in vivo can offer valuable insights into engineering approaches for therapeutic vascularization and angiogenesis, whether by creating new vasculature in vitro or by stimulating neovascularization in vivo.

In this Review, we will discuss how the process of vascular development can be used to guide approaches to engineering vasculature. Specifically, we will focus on some of the recently reported approaches to stimulate therapeutic angiogenesis by recreating the embryonic vascular microenvironment using biomaterials for vascular engineering and regeneration."

Based on that, it seems relevant to the DEX/AE HG and likely discusses it. Unfortunately, the article costs $25 and the PayPal link does not appear to be working properly, so I can't give more details.

I've been very optimistic about this hydrogel, and so far nothing has happened to make it seem like I shouldn't be.

Staying positive and hopeful.

Do you guys know that back when we were babies, we can regenerate our skin scarless?

Do you guys know that we humans were capable of fully regenerate even limbs, but evolution chose for scars ?

Do you guys know that gene called p21 is currently hindering us from full regenaration?

Do you guys know that we still have dormant abilities to fully regenerate?

Damn skin, why dont u fully regenerate after all?

It is not life ruining... It is just that we now live in a world that actually BOTHERS about visual acne scars...

why nobody try to contact with this people, Gerecht, Harmon, the investors etc.

English is not my first language, I live in Spain, but for some people in this fórum can contact them and try to know something.

I don`t know why all this excessive secrecy. If the hydrogel Works it Works, if not the people will know the true before or later.

Sorry, didn't know that.
I was trying to look for the date but couldn't find it.
Thanks for clarifying!

Repola, people on this board have contacted Gerecht, Harmon and the investors. I have actually talked to Dr. Sun, the original lead author of the paper concerning the Dextran Hydrorgel in 2011. He wasn't secretive and in fact was extremely forthcoming with information.

A previous poster on the boards (look back in the early 200 pages) was in frequent contact with Harmon before the investors came on board. As far as the investors are concerned, a former poster set up a Facebook page for the dex-hydrogel and has contacted them. Here's the link:

Facebook page

Only Gerecht (to my knowledge anyway) has been unreachable. I tried contacting her twice and heard nothing back, but keep in mind this is her baby and she wants to line this thing up for sale and profit. It's entirely possible that she was advised by JHU and the investors to not to talk about it and may have even signed a standard confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement.

Remember, this is an incredibly competitive field (wound healing) with billions being spent world wide to find the answer. The prudent course of action is to keep your cards pretty close to your vest and only release info through official channels (e.g. news releases, published papers etc.).

If you're interested, Dr. Sun basically said that while he'd moved on from Johns Hopkins due to funding not being available for his position, he was still very much of the belief that the dextran hydrogel was a strong candidate for scar free healing in humans. He's at Columbia now and still researching scar free healing and scaffolds like the hydrogel.

Hope this helps!

@repola, i have to say that this guy here called JT1986 is the most trustable, resourceful person as he knows about JH inner infos at least

About the secrecy, i agree, why didnt they publish anything up until now.. Im dying for this scar cure, hoping by the time i reach my thirties, i can regain my life back which is 10 years to the future..

I just hope in 10 years, scars cure already exist..
