I got my food intolerance results back.

So I promised I'd update with my results so here they are. Tested for 120 foods for IgG antibodies in the blood. the results surprised me a lot

severe intolerance:

-avocado

-strawberry

-sunflower seed

-eggplant

-oregano

-raspberry

-celery

-peanut

moderate intolerance:

-cow's milk

-goat's milk

-casein (protein found in dairy products)

-grapes

-lemon

-lime

-oranges

-apple

-carrot

-chicken egg-white & yolk

-corn

so there ya go. they dairy and egg i expected because they are common. but avocado?? strawberry? nooooo!! apple? carrot? grapes? lemon? well, so much for eating "healthy" this whole time.. i eat those things like everyday! yet i was just destroying my intestinal lining and causing inflammation in my body. what is interesting is that i tested O.K for soybean (which i tested allergic to for skin prick. but they said that that is because allergies is tested with a different Ig antibody).

i am glad to know that i am O.K for gluten! now i can go back to eating some bread with piece of mind. in general... now i can eat ANY of my "O.K-ed" foods without worrying in the back of my mind now.

anyways they say that i should eliminate the severe intolerance foods for 1 year, and the mod. intolerance for at least 10 weeks (i can gradually try to include them one by one, maybe... after my intestinal lining can heal up... that is, if the intolerance is not due to genetic factors). they also say that i should go on a rotation diet in the meantime with my okay-ed foods, giving 3-4 days before eating the same one food again, as it takes 3-4 days to fully have a food go thru ur system, and excessive eating of one food can cause an intolerance in itself.

well i hope that this will help me. eliminating dairy is no prob but it is tricky because casein is in a lot of hidden things like condiments, cold cuts, chicken broth etc. so i will just have to check labels a lot more now. egg.. well i already tried to avoid egg anyways because of my allergy. its just the fruits that really surprised me because i eat those like... all the time! (and my skin does still suck... hmm.. connection??)

i was on the verge of getting accutane because i am fed up with my skin, but it has been so difficult for me to get it. im still gonna try and get it just in case, but since derm appoints take a while to get.. i'm gonna try out this diet anywys. if anything, it should help with my fatigue, extreme mood swings, depression, anxiety attacks, and insomnia.

(oh yea, fyi, i have been taking fish oil, digestive enzymes, zinc, milk thistle for a few months with mediocre results. but i still continue with them because they are good for my health. i am going to add vit-c and msm to help with my marks healing)

How much was it to get that done ? I wanted to get my blood allergy test done as well.


My approach (morning):

Clean my face with Clarisonic using Avalon Organics Cleansing Gel

Take Supplements:

-Probiotics

L-acidophilus 1.150 Billion

L. rhamnosus 1.150 Billion

L. rhamnosus (Type B. Bifidus) 775 Million

S. lactis 275 Million

S. thermophilus 150 Million

Bifidobacterium longum 275 Million

B. bifidum 275 Million

-Quantum-Rx Greens Mix Capsules- 1440mg Daily

-Saw Palmetto 320mg

-MSM- Name: Super Good Stuff

1000mg, vegetarian, pharmaceutical grade

-Fish Oil-Name: RxOmega-3 Factors

EPA:400mg / DHA 200mg

Night:

Clean my face with Clarisonic using Avalon Organics Cleansing Gel

Use the Beautyskin Lamp for 15 minutes.

Im from the UK so any idea how or where Id get testing for anything like this? lol not asking for much am I :P

Id just about die if I couldnt have avecados, strawberries, and apples


My regimen changed (starting 5/16/09) and I am not a happy camper

AM regimen

Wash face and chest with Kaiser 5% bp wash

Moisturize with face reality skincare cranberry cream

Apply Estee Lauder Future Perfect Eye Cream

Apply make up, blush, finishing powder, MAC moisture cover to dark underyeye circles

Pop a doxycycline

PM regimen

Remove make up with desert esscence jojoba oil using cotton balls

starting evening of May 28, 2009, I wash my face with Face Reality Skincare Sensitive Skin Gel Cleanser at night time only

Apply Differin to face and chest

Wait to dry and moisturize with face reality skincare cranberry cream

Apply Estee Lauder Future Perfect Eye Cream

Pop a doxycycline

Foundation- MAC Studio Tech Foundation in NC20 or MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NW15, apply a MAC blush, apply MAC prep and prime finishing powder

Anyone who has a problem zit thats having a hard time healing, try this and let me know if it helped you. Mix one tablespoon of sea salt with three tablespoons of warm water, apply to a cotton ball or a paper towel. Apply to the zit for ten to fifteen minutes, and then wash it off.

was that the Yorktest which looks at IgG antibodies.

Its very good and clinically proven. Its done worldwide and can be found at www.yorktest.com or www.yorktest.co.uk

Im also looking at alcat testing which shows cell response to food which can cause problems. I had the vega or skin testing which shows Wheat and sugar and milk. But I dont know how reliable it is.

I plan on Trying the ALCAT and or Yorktest adn see what happens.

Lets say you still eat these foods you are allergic to, you say it "destroys the intestinal lining" what happens after long term exposure? Do you just destroy your intestines so you don't absorb food at all and then just not function at all? I'm confused :wacko:

People always think the key to fighting acne is to avoid foods, but in actually it's usually what they're NOT eating that's causing it to happen. It made no sense to start with omitting the small things that MAY cause acne for SOME people. Start with the basics of nutrition. You're a human, not an accumulation of minor problems from every person! Not everyone reacts to the same foods. Not everyone has issues with wheat and such foods. Start with the basics of good nutrition and THEN see what happens, omit foods once you feel something is not working, but don't base a diet off of what to avoid, that will make you malnourished and very depressed when you have nothing left to eat! It is true that some people have issues with some foods, but remember, try it for yourself first :)

Get to the root of the problem, because acne has a relentless and endless arsenal on the surface and it is sadistic.

Testosterone is a steroid hormone from the androgen group. Omega 3 fatty acids can also help to keep the production of androgens under control. Androgens are hormones that influence sebum production and are particularly active during adolescence, which is possibly why many teenagers suffer from acne. Androgen excess may provoke or aggravate acne by inducing seborrhea (sebum). In women, androgen disorders are frequently suspected when acne is accompanied by hirsutism or irregularities of the menstrual cycle. In men, however, acne may be the only sign of androgen excess.

i have to agree, sounds a bit dodgy, and thats just for 120 food types, what about the rest. you'll probably test positive for one third of all foostuffs. way too restrictive.

I too have IBS. I have found that staying away from all animal products...meat, dairy and eggs...prevents flair ups. I am allergic/lactose intolerant to all dairy/casein, so that is a big culprit for me. Animal flesh takes waaaay to long to get out of my system, which aggravates the IBS, and eggs give me gas.

I would like to have that test done, too, just to see if it confirms my findings and supports the way I am currently eating.

Oceanmist, I am not surprised about some of the foods that came up on your intolerance list. My son projectile vomited avocados the first time I fed them to him...that is a sign of allergy. Strawberries are allergenic...I had a temporary allergy to them after I finished nursing my son. My throat would close slightly, to where I had to use my inhaler. I can eat them again now. Peanuts are a MAJOR allergen...my son has a severe peanut allergy, as do many children at the church we attend. I was born with a severe dairy allergy (rash and projectile vomited my formula...my mom had to feed me soy formula) and am now completely lactose intolerant and have to avoid foods containing casein. Those items are high on the allergen list as well, so again, no surprise that they showed up on your intolerance test.

Here is what does suprise me...the goat's milk and the sunflower seeds. Goat's milk is supposed to be the closest to human breastmilk, and is what is suggested for infants whose mothers are unable to nurse and the child is allergic to cow milk and soy. Typically, people aren't allergic to seeds if they are allergic to nuts. My son is allergic to peanuts and all tree nuts, so I give him sunflower seeds and Sunbutter sunflower butter (processed on dedicated machinery), pumpkin seeds (NOW brand is safe), and Arrowhead Mills sesame seeds and flax seeds for his good fats. I use the sesame seeds to make my own tahini...just grind them up in a coffee grinder. I also use my coffee grinder for the flax seeds, and add them into mine and my son's oatmeal.

nNdromeo... i have a booklet here that explains the whole intolerance thing and how it affects ur body. it doesnt really "destroy" the intestinal lining... i worded that wrong, my bad. if ur intestinal wall is damaged (due to a variety of factors... environment, infection, stress, medication, etc) then food components can slip between the intestinal cells which are recognized by the immune system... which then forms antibodies against the corresponding foods. in case of regular consumption of this foods, repeated immune reactions lead to chronic inflammation. so by avoiding the foods for a decent amount of time (depends, 10 weeks or 1 year if severe intolerance), the intestinal lining can heal up. if it is not genetic based... i believe u MAY be able to "outgrow" ur food intolerance. there is a lot of information about it in this booklet i have, but it is too much for me to type out and explain right now.... (since even i dont fully comprehend it all yet. i just got this yesterday, after all).

(oh yeah Nndromeo, ive been taking fish oil for about 7 weeks now which minimal improvement, as my acne flares and then calms and then flares. i noticed... i have a mod. intolerance to lemon. and my fish oil has lemon in it. hmmm....)

looking at lists like that seems to mean to me that acne sufferers are hopeless in devising a better diet for themselves (even with whole foods) if they don't have these expensive tests done

do u guys get acne/zit immediately after having food u're intolerant to?like peanuts or avocados?


Itchy red raised skin - dermatitis??

huge pores

indented scar

oils used for cooking

inflamed whiteheads & clogged pores

my balanced diet chart and skincare routine(medications taken & products used now)

i dont think this thread is active anymore. I did intolerance testing twice. Once with ALCAT and once with Mediator Release Testing or LEAP as they sometimes call it. Both times my severe intolerances were soy and egg but other than that there were so many differences it was ridiculous. I dont recommend it as it created so many fears and phobias about eating and avoid all my severe and moderates only wreaked havoc on my brain and did nothing to improve my skin or my stomach issues.
