So my skin is doing pretty ok with some minor breakout so Im not so worried about that but I am getting married and actually need birth control. I like the idea of using Yasmin because I hear it works great and I know it agrees with me in that I had no side effects on it while using it during my Accutane course a year 1/2 ago.
What I do not know about it because I was on accutane while using it is if it causes initial breakouts.
Im so afraid of going on it and if and when i need to stop taking it will it wreck havock on my skin and make it worse than now? I just want it to tame down this oily skin of mine.
Also does anyone know how long you can take it and if it it safe to take it for years and years? is there a certain age that you need to stop taking it? If it works well I want to take it until I grow out of the worst of my acne (which Im sure is going to be an ongoing struggle cause it has been for my mom and she is 50)

I didn't get an IB from it, but some people do. I started taking it a few months before an Accutane course, and have continued using it since then because it does great things for my menstruation and moods. Most doctors agree that you can safely take BC pills for a very long time, provided you don't smoke. If you stop taking it, your skin may flare and will probably return to a similar level of acne as what you had before taking it.

thanks for your feedback. I see you were on a course of accutane. How has it done for you so far? was that your 1st or 2nd course. I have only taken one and hopefully thats all Ill need. What kind of acne did you have? I had moderate cystic acne. my skin has been doing pretty good I get a minor breakout here and there.
I wonder how long the initial breakouts last? or when do they happen for most people. If I start it in January I have till the end of April to make sure Im clear for my wedding. I just dont want it messing my skin up because it is dong good from my course of accutane and the reg (who knows which is working best.) I kinda started the regiment over just a minor breakout not wanting to ever see acne again.
Anway, I would love to get on it because my skin get so oily. for some reason here this week it has been aweful! Ive had to blot like 1 or 2 times a day. Im on my period but its usually not this bad. STUPID hormones. My hormones seem to be a little out of wak right now because the last 2 months my period has been a week or more late.
