I've been on it for 3 months. Is it working for you?

Do not take minocycline for the rest of your life, trust me on that. Reason being if u take it 2 long there is a strong possibility that u will experience skin discolorations somewhere like your face, leg, arm, body. I wouldn't recommend taking it over a year. Closely monitor any skin tone changes, if u see something that looks like a bruise type color then immediately stop.

How is it working for you? Excellent? Good? OK? NOt satisfied?

IF it's not working Excellent, it never will. Actually, 2 months is about all the time you should give it if it isn't working really well.

If it's working, chances are you'll have to take it for a long time. The only way you can tell if you don't need it any more is to gradually wean yourself of of it - reducing the dose about 6 weeks at a time to see if the acne comes back. Sometimes it takes 4-6 weeks at the lower dose for the acne to come back, so you have to do it gradually.

I'd much rather take a 4-6 month course of accutane than years of antibiotics. I think it's much safer and healthier.

Some people have been on it for years. It didn't work for me and I'm somewhat glad because it isn't a good idea to take it for long periods of time from what I have read from multiple sources (including here).

Morning:

-Cetaphil (Daily Facial Cleanser For Normal to Oily Skin)

-Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer spf 15

Night:

-Cetaphil (Daily Facial Cleanser For Normal to Oily Skin)

-Tretinoin 0.025% Cream

Shower:

-Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar

i took doxycycline for like 6 months +. i asked how my derm. how long am i supposed to take this. she didn't give me a good answer, she said some people take it for the rest of their lives. well, it cleared me up after 3-4 months, then i still got a few pimples. i figured i got immune to the stuff [and i got tired of paying for it] so i stopped. my skin has been fine for like 5 months. i think if your skin is looking good you should slowly get off the stuff.
