Earlier this year my skin broke out real bad on my face, chest and back but for the last 3/4 months I made some massive changes to my diet and managed to clear it up a treat however I noticed the last couple of weeks the skin on my face has got incredibly dry and i'm trying to work out why??

My diet consists of: turkey, chicken, eggs, fish, all fruit and veg, sweet potatoes, rye, oats, quinoa, brown rice, buckwheat, beans, nuts, olive oil and coconut oil. I only drink water, nettle and peppermint tea.

In regards to suppliments i take:
zinc 15mg
MSM 750mg
Calcium 800mg & Vitamin D 5 micrograms
Cod liver oil (156 mg of omega 3) and evening primrose (40mg) with added vit A (800 micro grams), D (5 micrograms) & E (10mg)
Teaspoon of Barley grass
Tablespoon of aloe vera juice

My skin care regime has been the same for a good few years now and has never caused me problems in the past but the only thing i did differently in the last few months was to use baking soda to exfoliate a couple times a week.

Hmm what else... i excercise regularly, let the sunshine get at my skin every now and again and i live in the uk (its still nice weather over here so no central heating is on or anything)

So could anyone suggest what could be causing the skin on my face to dry out or what i can do to balance it out a bit??

Many thanks smile.gif

Long time since i've been around here...

So ladies and gents is it a good idea to use it to exfoliate or not?

I've just had a snoop round on the net and have found some very mixed reviews, some are saying its excellent and others are saying it totally wrecks the acid mantle of your skin?

If it is bad they do people have any suggestions for alternatives (my skin defo benefits from exfoliating a few times a week)?

I have actually managed to get my skin about 98% clear in the last months through changes in my diet so i will stick a post up here explaining when i get more time smile.gif

Thanks

Is it really ok to use this to exfoliate your skin? After reading some posts about it it sounds quite promising and i was thinking of using it twice a week but i was a little concerned it might f*ck around with the PH of your skin and do more damge than good in the long term?

Since clearing my diet up the acne on my face and back has cleared up tonnes, i have no new spots on my face and only one little one on my back...horay!!!

However the stuff on my chest is still quite persistant...i have loads these teeny tiny things and a couple inflamed things...could it be that this is Pityrosporum Folliculitis and this is why is is not responding in the same way as the rest of my acne? I am quite suspicious and i quite often get an itchy scalp as well.

How do i truely tell if this is what I have rather than just acne...should i go back to my doctor? The last 2 time's i went to the derm they didn't even bother examining my face let alone look at my back or chest they just tried to write me a perscription for roccutane/antibiotics which i kindly declined so I don't have much faith in them to be honest!

How is this treated..are there any holistic ways or do I have to use meds?

Thanks

I have used differin and apple cider vinegar both of these irriated the hell out of my skin, even when the ACV was diluted down alot as well.

Any suggestions for other products that might be suitable for my skin please?

hey, the candida diet i've been on has immensely improved my skin. i just wanted to give you an update. you don't need quick fixes like drugs to make your skin better.

May I say thank you for the compliment. That's very kind of you to say, and I'm glad my words have a positive effect.
