Hey everyone,

Technically I haven't started my accutane treatment (am going to see the dermatologist this Tuesday) but I figure I should explain my backstory and get some advice whilst I'm at it.

So here goes:

I actually once had rather nice skin. Warm olive tones, (I'm half-Asian) and despite its horrendous amount of oil production, it never really caused me any grief until I was about 14. Even though my acne was mild, I suggested to my parents that I go see the GP with regards to a treatment, and I got put on clindatech. When that didn't work, I waited a bit, tried a few topical solutions with little success (all the usual suspects: bp, clearasil, etc.) before finally going on doxycycline. Needless to say, two years with doxy didn't clear anything.

So I left my skin to its own devices. I cared about my skin, but never had any clear objectives in mind; having clear skin was obviously my intent, but I didn't chase after it. My skin remained fairly good, still with blemishes, but nothing major. But there's nothing like a good healthy dose of drama to change that. And so my saga with accutane begun last month, when my parents had broken up after 29 years. That was the final thing to push my skin over the edge. Literally overnight my skin had broken out in huge cysts. I don't have bad scarring, but believe me: my skin looked as though it could change that for me very quickly, if I didn't do anything.

So here I am. Two days out before (hopefully) going on accutane. I don't know what to expect as I'm yet to see the dermatologist, but here's hoping! biggrin.gif

P.S.
I'd love some male-specific regimes, if you have any to pass on! (I'll also track down that paw paw lip balm us Aussies rave about. Living in QLD should make obtaining it much-much easier.)
