I want to even out an area on my chin where there is both depressed and hypertrophic scarring.

Has anyone tried needling or dermarolling scars that are slightly elevated or hypertrophic? I want to know if it has made anyone's scars actually improve or just elevate them even more (which would not be a desirable outcome).

I have finally seen some nice improvement in a forehead scar that I got almost exactly a year ago. It was relatively deep and bothered me a lot! But after several TCA crosses, collagen slowly progressed. But it sucked, because during that time, it often looked worse through widening or appearing deeper. And I kid you not, I thought it still looked pretty crappy even up until a month ago. So I decided to needle it a little. What I have now is a much more desirable looking scar.

Anyway, I'm way past the microswelling stage, and can say with confidence that it's pretty much improved to the point where it's only noticeable to me. It's slightly wider than when I began a year ago, but much much shallower. It's pretty much invisible when I pull back my hair, too. Anyway, I suspect it was the combination of treatments that helped it, and I can't say for sure if it would look as it does now without me adding in the needling.

I wish I had kept a more accurate journal of descriptions and photos to show the progress. But I hope this little tidbit gives a little hope to some of you.

Now I just have to attack some rolling and hypertrophic scars on my chin, which I have just taken pictures of. I will be dermarolling/needling these. If I see noticeable improvement, I will be sure to share with all of you.

*I should also mention that I used 50% TCA, not 100% as I felt 100% might be too strong esp. for the forehead area, but don't really know...
