Alright, I know this isn't about acne in the slightest, but I am going to start serious hair boot camp on my head starting when I get paid on Thursday. Step one) wash once a week. I wash twice a week now and my hair can't take it. Sorry if you think it is gross, but it just simply can't. It is so dry and brittle it is falling apart. Step two) cut back on the heat. I am going to flat iron on hair wash day after I airdry and touch up for a few days after with a warm iron, but after that, it is hair pinned gently back and then letting it do its own thing for the rest of the week. Step
three) Moisture. I need moisture. I am going to buy this shea butter leave in that I saw at the store. No mineral oil or grease in it, only the good yummy stuff, and a teensy bit of protein to help strengthen but not make it dry like protein can. And finally, and sadly, step four) get a trim....again. Like I said in my last post, I recently had 5 inches cut off, but it appears more may be necessary to get me back on track. It is a myth that hair won't grow with damaged ends, but it is true that splits will just keep on splitting higher and higher up the hair. Wish me luck, I will have my armand hair (from interview with the vampire) back soon.

*shock, appalled, scandal* sephora is going to grow out his natural color. Shocking I know. After years of dyeing it and not seeing my natural color in like 5 years, I have decided not to use chemicals anymore. I flat iron my hair already and that combined with the dye has made my hair damaged. And I mean damaged. It was halfway down my neck and I got 5 inches cut off from the damage. Then I noticed that other day that the remainder hair, which looked very healthy after I first got it cut, has now begun to split and break and fall apart like my dead ends did before they were cut. I have been talking to kei_fujo about it, and she has been super nice and helpful, but I wanted to ask, has anyone else here just absolutely ruined there hair one way or another and had to start from scratch? I had such pretty hair, it was jet black, bone straight and half way down my neck, and then it decided it had had enough and started to break a month ago, BIG time. I am so sad, lol sad.gif

I think I am going to stop using ammonium lauryl/laureth sulfates, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, and silicones on my hair. It is just so dry and frizzy and gross no matter what I do or use. I haven't used them in about three days and my hair looks much better. Has anyone else ever given up sls and silicones on their hair before? Articles about them online are mixed.

Holy crap! I have got EXTREMELY over dyed, over heat styled, over everything, over processed hair. this is why I dye it black and am only straightening once a week. The dye started coming out uneven on the ends, so I dyed it black to cover it up, and I am only straightening it once a week to avoid as much breakage as I can. So, being the professional walgreens beauty adviser that I am, I decided to try the nexxus emergencee reconstrutor that we seem to sell alot of. Wow, just wow. I followed the directions to a T and at first I was pissed as hell. My hair looked and felt the same. I was so pissed because I dropped 14 bucks on like 2 oz of this stuff. I blew dry my hair and straightened in after using it. I had like no breakage whatsoever. My bathroom is usually COVERED in hair. This time I only hair a little that fell in the sink. It wasn't all over the floor as usual. I also washed my hair last night to see if it would break in the shower. It didn't normally I can feel my hair snapping when I shampoo it and it looks like someone bathed a dog when I am done, but I had only like 5 hairs in the tub when I was done. Yea!

Sorry, just had to rave about this. I am so happy my hair is acting like normal again. eusa_dance.gif

lol, I have got naturally curly hair, dyed black, about 6 inches long. It is not nice curls. Poofy, frizzy, moppy curls. I found a way to get pin straight hair that lasts me about a week. Thought I'd share since I know a lot of people straighten their hair.

I use a water based heat tamer spray (I like tresemme's one) and liberally spray my hair with it. I blow dry on high not to try to straighten it, but to just dry the spray since it is water based. I blow dry in a downward motion. Then I take my flat iron on HIGH heat, as hot as it will get (I really like conair's infiniti one) and straighten my hair completely. Then I take a water free frizz spray (I like tresemme no frizz ultra light) and literally saturate my hair in that shit. I let it air dry for a little until it is mostly dry and iron my hair on the highest heat again. When I am done, I comb it down and voila. Pin straight hair that lasts me a good week if I don't wash it. Also, it is very important to pin up your hair at night around your head with bobby pins until it is flat and wrapped against your head and sleep on a satin pillow or wrap it. A coworker told me that and it does really work. Surprised me, but it really does. Unpin it in the morning and comb it down and you are done.

Just thought I'd share wink.gif
