  1. Hello everyone! After lurking for quite a while, I finally decided to post here to seek help, since dermatologists have failed big time with me. I want to know if there's someone here with symptoms similar as mine and if so, if they managed to find a solution to acne. I'm a 27 yo female, and when I was 16 a gyn diagnosed me with PCOS and put me on the pill. It wasn't until I was 24, had depression and my skin was dry as the Sahara no matter what I did, and after seeing in some exams that I had 0 testosterone, that I decided it was time to let go of the pill. So, I will do this with a more 4chan narrative style: - 24 yo: off the pill > initial acne breakout, nothing serious again, I can stand a few pimples or even a cyst > menstruation came every 40 days or so > before menstruating about 3 - 4 thick black hairs came on my chin (totally removable) > good mood, no depression > no acne (ocasionally a very small pimple just bf menstruating) - 26 yo (August 2015): had pyelonephritis with renal abscess, which led to 2 moth antibiotic treatment > fair fell off > no acne > didn't lose my period (still the same as before) > stopped eating meat because it made me feel ill after this > started taking probiotics daily to the day > started to get regular yeast infections > developed a huge intolerance to antibiotics and meds in general (gave me yeast infections asap and felt generally bad) - 27 yo (June 2016): ate soy for a month to get proteins since I stopped eating meat > defended my thesis (a lot of stress) > had just done Alexandrite laser hair removal in whole face, they told me I could get a few pimples but nothing serious > period didn't come for 60 days (oh you damned phytoestrogens, I wish I knew you before), and when it came some big cysts came on my face > had minocycline prescribed, and this was the worst thing ever: it was like hell broke loose on my hormones, got a yeast infection the whole time, and my acne got worse than it had ever been in my whole life, I had huge red cysts all over my face, used BP 10% which only made irritation worse, I swear I was the exemplar to put in a dermatologist magazine for a severe acne case > dermatologist said she didn't want to put me on accutane since I was reacting so much to meds in general > started low glycemic diet after being diagnosed of PCOS again by another gyn (I weight 50 kgs and am 1.60 mt tall) Ever since, I haven't been able to have the skin I had before June 2016. I have tried zinc, magnesium, calcium, vit D, together and on their own only to make my testosterone reach sky limits (thick chin hairs and crazy sex drive) and get sadistic cysts on my face, so ultra proved they don't work for me. I also tried doing the same things I did before, eating the same way, I started having chicken (the farm kind without the hormones) and it has helped a bit but I still break out and feel this isn't my skin. Sorry for the wall of text, kind regards, Isidora
  2. Has anyone had any problems with high dose zinc (75mg+ daily) causing their period to disappear? I have had problems with irregular periods ever since I went off birth control, but they seem to be worse after taking a higher dose of zinc. I know that zinc can increase testosterone levels, so I wonder if that is what is happening. I am taking a larger dose of zinc because I eat a lot of beans which supposedly inhibit some zinc absorption, but maybe I should cut back.
  3. I've been researching Zinc and apparently it can raise testosterone in some people and worsen acne. I feel this is true for me -- my hormone levels have been slightly off ever since I came off an androgenic BCP (Junel Fe). Taking Zinc for 2.5 months only worsened my hormonal breakouts and added onto my acne issues. When I think back, it makes sense. My breakouts started becoming more painful, more frequent -- even with pimples on my back which I rarely get -- when I began taking 30 mg of Zinc religiously. Things started getting pretty bad by the 3rd week...Unfortunately I was also doing a b-complex shortly after starting Zinc and I thought that was the main cause. But even when I stopped that one weeks ago, my acne has still be more troublesome than ever before. That made me realize Zinc needed to go. Been off it 9 days and hoping that helps soon. Anyone else have a similar Zinc break out? It's quite depressing to realize I was adding onto my problems all along. It taught me a good lesson...don't take a bunch of supplements for acne when they aren't right for every person!
  4. So here's my situation: I'm 24, out in the professional world, and having adult acne is nothing short of a nightmare. I have very sensitive skin, which often appears red and inflamed at the onset of any blemish. I get painful cystic bumps and my skin always looks and feels very oily and greasy. I have been researching and considering Accutane for the past 6 months but presently deal with dry eyes - made drier from LASIK surgery one year ago - and so I have been hesitant to proceed. In the meantime I have been considering similar but realistic solutions. Right now I'm currently on 115 mg of Solodyn, which helps with the cystic acne but by no means has been a cure. Along with that, I take Nicomide (an expensive prescription Vitamin B and Zinc supplement), which, so far in the course of a month, seems to have only provided minimal relief. Finally, I've recently begun taking Pantethine (the active ingredient in Vitamin B5) (450 mg, twice daily) but my skin is still very oily. I've read about L-Carnitine and how it's suppose to enhance the effects of Pantethine and so I am considering that as well. This is all very frustrating, very overwhelming, and I just want a solution - not researching and experimenting well into my late 20s. Anyway can anyone provide any insight? Has anything helped? Has anyone ever considered realistic alternatives to Accutane that have worked? Any help would be well appreciated. I am a 24 year old male.
  5. Comedogenic: Tending to produce or aggravate acne. This post lists comedogenic ingredients and products containing those ingredients above a certain threshold. This is the BAD LIST of what to avoid in your skin care products. If you want the good list of non-comedogenic products, see this alternate post. This is purely informational. I am not making any blanket statements concerning any particular product. Use this post to inform yourself. What you choose to slather on your face is your own business. Just because something claims to be "non-comedogenic" "non-acnegenic" "oil-free" "dermatologist tested" or "dermatologist approved" does NOT mean the product is free of comedogenic ingredients. These terms are not regulated, and a company can use them however they want. You will find many "non-comedogenic" products that contain the worst offenders on this list! A major offender is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate...contained in many mainstream cleansers. Ingredients with a comedogenic rating of 3 or higher are highlighted in red. ingredient : comedogenic factor : irritant factor 1. 6. Day 1 Curology

So no matter how much I want things to clear my skin, that I used to be able to use on my skin, they don't work. I prayed and just sucked up my fear of dermatologists. I got an online dermatologist on curology because it's a lot less hassle! I didn't want to have to call my doc to get a referral for dermatology, call the dermatologist, go see the derm, and then go get a prescription. I have insurance but it still costs money and driving. I also don't like taking on the phone for some reason. Anyways, I got my Curology today! As you can see in picture my prescription is: zinc pyrithione 0.25% clindamycin 1% niacinamide 4% Its free for the first month just pay $5 shipping! [link removed] Im also using free and clear liquid cleanser, derma e purifying moisturizer, insta naturals Aloe Vera, and Coola classic sunscreen white tea spf 50. I hardly ever wear a sunscreen but I really need to start! I got sample of Coola sunscreen I'm going to try because it checks out clean on the CosDNA website! Supplements: fish oil 2-4 a day. zinc 1-2 a day turmeric probiotics 1-2x *new Spearmint 2x. I just started taking it yesterday because it is supposed to help reduce androgen hormones/ oiliness.
  7. i wanted to post my spiro experience here- and get any feedback on other user's experiences. firstly, ever since i could remember i have had on/off SEVERE acne. all over the face. i could not even put a finger on an area that did not have a bump or red mark on it. I wanted to avoid birth control/ RX routes so i tried every diet (gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian) and supplement/ natural method that i could think of (zinc, vit d, berberine, vit a, etc.) Nothing helped in the slightest bit. I eventualy got tired of all of it and came across spironolactone in my research... saw the general lack of side effects and positive reviews, so i went to a dermatologist, and he prescribed me 50 mg per day and told me i wouldn't see results until 3- 4 months in. He was correct, i started on August 10th and today would be 4 and a half months, where i can say that i am 95% clear, with only 3-4 small spots on my face. However, as i have been taking it tfor some months, i have noticed some side effects and have come across in my research others that have noticed some of the same things: 1) weight gain- i have always generally been a thin person, fluctuating between 110-120 at my heaviest. I have always carried weight in my belly only, where everywhere else stayed lean. However, since i have started taking spiro, I feel like my weight distribution has definitely changed, and i am getting bad stretch marks and cellulite around my butt/thigh region. Because of the diuretic effect, my bloating in my stomach has flattened, however, i am gaining weight on other areas of my body that i have never experienced before. 2) bloated face- i used to get compliments on my defined jawline and thin face, however, spiro has definitely made my face look much rounder and fatter looking 3) bad/tense dreams and longer sleep- since starting spiro, i am getting horrible, vivid dreams every single night. I also have to sleep a lot more on this pill. I used to run perfectly on 7-8 hours, now I need 10-11 hours to function. 4) general anxiety- i have noticed myself getting anxious about things i never used to, snapping at my friends more, and feeling stressed in my day to day life. My theory is that many of these symptoms (weight gain, bloated face, anxiety) are caused by the spike in cortisol that spiro does cause, along with an eventual estrogen dominance due to the suppression of testosterone. That is why i have started to take rhodiola and phosphatidylserine supplements along with my spiro to try to combat some of the effects, but i dont know whether it is placebo or not because i cannot really tell a difference. Has anyone been able to find a solution or can provide expertise for any of these problems?? please let me know, as i am extremely satisfied with the positive aspects, but do not know if down the road i will have to find another acne method.
  8. Day Eight

Hey all! I'm here on Day Eight. (I thought it was Day Seven, but I guess it's Day Eight) I can't count, apparently. It's a pretty lazy Sunday. Update: My date and I mutually cancelled on one another on Friday. I spent most of Saturday binge eating junk food, so that's not the best for my skin. I ate a lot of potato chips and sweets. I didn't eat any dairy or gluten though (Okay, I ate some Ritz crackers). Oh well, so I'm not being as strict as I'd like, but it'll be just fine! As far as improvements go in this first week, I’m seeing cysts heal a lot quicker, but I’m still getting new ones. I attribute this my sugar intake? Or part of me thinks I have some underlying hormone or health issue. That is no use thinking about without speaking with a doctor. I have a lot of scarring on my neck from old cysts. It’s the majority of the marking on my left and right sides of my neck. The back of my neck is where I’m getting the new cysts primarily. There’s also a new one on my right side, but it isn’t painful. It seems like right when the cysts on one side go down or drain a new one appears on the other side. Kind of frustrating, but this is a process. I’ve been drinking a shit ton of chamomile tea this weekend. Does it do anything? I’m not sure, but it makes me feel mentally better. I’m probably just overcompensating for all the shit I’m eating. This week will hopefully be a little less stressful than this last week. I hope to run more and lift weights. I know I will see some improvement in my acne this week if I can work out on a regular basis. I’m keeping the same regimen this week. I didn’t do a bentonite clay mask this last week, but they just seem like so much effort because I can’t wash them down the drain due to how much clay I use. There will be less sweets consumed this week and cutting down on sugar! It’s also Day 15 of no porn or masturbation for me. These are things that I consider bad for my mental and sexual health. Whether or not abstaining from them helps my acne directly, I cannot say, but I CAN say that I feel more confident when I abstain from them. Confidence is what I need right now amidst the potentially embarrassing acne. The acceptance that this is not going to happen quickly is still hard for me to accept and there’s been times already this past week when my brain told me to just give up and give in. But I’ve got a lot in store for me. I’m not giving up. I will get my confidence back. Cheers to a new week and new challenges Be happy, Be healthy! Jikasa
  9. Day Five

Hi there anybody who's following! [No one xD] I'm here at the end of Day Five and I honestly think this day was great. Started off chugging water. Doing some leg stretches. Breakfast was 2 eggs and a quinoa burger. 5,000iu Vitamin D3, 30mg Zinc, 400mg magnesium, 4 desiccated liver tabs, a mug of chamomile and I was on my way. The white head on my lip already dried out overnight - I put tea tree on it a couple times. Sometimes this helps, others it doesn't. I'm really glad this one drained so quick because I have a date tomorrow and I need my lips lookin' good. As far as the rest of my skin - my neck is still getting new cysts as well as my back and shoulders. I notice I’m more energized and confident though and they aren’t draining my confidence as much. I have a good amount of hope that this is early in the journey and things will start to look up sooner rather than later. Right when I got to work I saw a bag of cookies at my work bench. My co-worker is a saint and saved me some of her gluten and dairy free pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I had one of those right away with my tea and it put me in the perfect mood. Maybe there was a bit more sugar in it than I needed, but I don’t give a care. I took three more liver tabs. My energy was crazy good today. Had a mint chocolate RX bar and took another three liver tabs around 11:00am. There was a pizza lunch provided today and I have to say that it smelled amazing, but I was glad to do my own thing. I also took comfort that there is dairy free/gluten free pizza options out there for when I want to go crazy. Lunch for me was a tuna salad, carrots, liver tabs, and unsweetened chocolate (nasty). I don’t know what possessed me to think this chocolate bar would taste good. It’s for baking, but I wanted to try it as an aphrodisiac haha. I am still looking for a sex drive that doesn’t exist right now. Through NoFap, I know it’s possible to get my drive back, it just takes time to reset. Look at the subreddit if you’ve got any questions about that. I worked out after work (5x5 StrongLifts app), ran a mile, and then ate another cookie and a beef jerky bar. After this I went home and had a green smoothie but no other food because I wasn’t hungry. I’m hungry now at 10pm, but I’ll go to bed hungry. I went to the library to check out a book called “The Final Empire” by Brandon Sanderson - recommended by the guy I had a date with last week. After I got groceries for the weekend, walked my pupper for 20 minutes, and now I’m here sippin’ tea! I’m gonna do an Epsom salt foot soak for extra Magnesium and start this book. It’s been a mega productive day. I probably won’t have time to log anything tomorrow, but I’ll try to write something on my lunch break. My acne shows no major signs of improvement. We’ll see what tomorrow holds! Be happy, Be healthy! Jikasa
  10. ★★★CONNECTION between CONSTIPATION, High BP and Non-Insulin-Dependent DIABETES★★★ Constipation is caused by various combinations of the following factors : 1. Excessive amounts of the constipating nutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), niacin, tryptophan (an amino acid), folic acid, protein, fat, some organic acids (like citric acid, but not vitamin C), calcium, fluoride, chloride, (bromide), nitrates and some other compounds of nitrogen, copper, etc. 2. Deficiencies of the laxative nutrients. 3. Constipating medicines and drugs. 4. Constipating additives, adulterants and contaminants in foods and drinks. 5. Residues of constipating pesticides in foods and drinks. 6. Too much exercise. 7. Fasting or semi-starvation diets which result in a deficit of energy in the body. 8. Over-indulgence in sex and excessive loss of semen (in men). 9. Hypothyroidism. 10. Anemia (low RBC count). Over-indulgence in sex makes the constipation much worse in men. During the period of lactation, women who excessively breast-feed their hungry older infants, or have to breast-feed twins, may suffer from constipation. The symptoms associated with chronic constipation are edema, high blood pressure, heart disease, headaches, sleeplessness, mental depression, chronic fatigue, tumors and cancer. The other symptoms in this condition can include non-insulin-deficiency diabetes (NIDD), high levels of fat and cholesterol in the body, leukemia, etc. ★Cures for Constipation & Related Diseases★ Persons suffering from constipation, high blood pressure, non-insulin-deficiency diabetes and other associated problems should take greater amounts of the laxative dietary factors such as: Vitamin C Vitamin D Thiamine (vitamin B1) Pantothenate Magnesium Manganese Sodium Potassium Iodine Chromium Phosphates and some other compounds of phosphorus Zinc, Etc. Note of Caution: High doses of the nutrients should not be given once the symptoms of constipation are controlled. Moving too fast in the opposite direction can bring new symptoms of the opposite condition that can frighten the patients. Nutrition therapists must have the knowledge about such critical stages. Lower doses of nutrients should be given once the change from the constipating stage to the diarrheal tendency is noticed. The treatment should be changed or even stopped once the original symptoms disappear. The salts of micronutrients like manganese, iodine, chromium and zinc should be taken only on the advice of an expert nutritionist. Even small overdoses of such micronutrients taken regularly can be toxic. Patients suffering from constipation and associated symptoms, should reduce the intakes of constipating dietary factors such as vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), niacin, tryptophan (an amino acid), folic acid, protein, fat, some organic acids like citric acid, calcium, fluoride, chloride, (bromide), nitrates and some other compounds of nitrogen, copper, etc. They should avoid constipating medicines and drugs, as well as foods containing constipating additives, constipating contaminants and residues of constipating pesticides. ★★Fiber, Water & Laxative Nutrients★★ Indigestible dietary fiber or roughage, consisting of cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, pectin, is present in large amounts in whole-grain flour products, bran-enriched foods, peas, beans and pulses, leafy and root vegetables, fruits and their skins. Dietary fiber can absorb a lot of water and can help in producing peristalsis in the intestines. So dietary fiber can be considered as a factor that may physically help in the production of peristalsis. Constipated persons should consume adequate amounts of water and fiber-rich carbohydrate foods like unrefined cereals, vegetables and fruits. They should avoid eating white polished rice, refined white bread and other white flour foods because refined cereal foods are poor in the laxative vitamins and minerals. The refined cereal foods should not be given to such patients till they get cured of constipation. Whole-wheat flour foods should preferably be eaten by them every day as such foods contain many laxative factors. Besides consuming other vegetables and fruits, the constipated persons should also eat foods containing herbs like onion, garlic and leeks. Persons suffering from chronic constipation should be made to consume the vegetables, pulses, etc, along with the water used for boiling them. The water should not be thrown away as it can be used for preparing soups and curries. For example, they should consume the water used for boiling potatoes, spinach, guar (cluster beans), cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, radishes, beetroots, peas, beans, gram, lentil, moong, brown unpolished rice, etc. The water used for boiling such foods contains the laxative factors like potassium, magnesium, phosphate, manganese, chromium, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin B1 (thiamine), etc. This procedure should be followed as long as it is necessary to control constipation. ★More Measures to Control Constipation★ The following salts are constipating and so the processed foods, drinks and medical preparations containing them should be avoided by persons with constipation: Calcium carbonate = CaCO3. Calcium bicarbonate = Ca(HCO3)2. Calcium chloride = CaCl2. Calcium sulfate = CaSO4. Sodium nitrate (Chile saltpeter) = NaNO3. Potassium nitrate (saltpeter) = KNO3. Citric acid. Ammonium chloride = NH4Cl. Salts of constipating micronutrients: Copper sulfate = CuSO4. Other compounds of copper. Calcium fluoride = CaF2. Sodium fluoride = NaF. Potassium fluoride = KF. Calcium bicarbonate, calcium chloride and calcium sulfate are found in hard water. The hard water containing any of these calcium salts can cause constipation, and related problems, and should be avoided by the constipated persons. Chile saltpeter and saltpeter are used as food additives to cure meats, which should be avoided by persons with constipation. As copper is a constipating factor, the constipated persons should not consume water stored in a copper vessel. Constipated persons should not have dental fillings, caps or bridges containing copper. Their teeth should be free of copper. Fluoride salts are used in toothpastes, mouth washes and for fluoridation of water. Toothpastes and mouth washes containing fluoride and fluoridated water can cause very severe constipation in the users. The excessive ingestion of fluoride prevents the adequate formation and the efficient functioning of thyroxin in the body of a person using them. The toothpastes and mouth washes containing fluoride and fluoridated water should be avoided to help the formation of adequate thyroxin in the body. An adequate formation of thyroxin helps in preventing constipation. Persons who suffer from constipation should eat foods prepared with iodized salt. Constipated patients should consume vitamin D-fortified milk. Exposure of the skin to sunshine helps in the formation of vitamin D in the body, which reduces constipation, as vitamin D is a laxative factor. Constipated persons can use foods and beverages that contain dilute phosphoric acid as an additive. Calcium supplements, which do not contain the phosphate radical, like calcium carbonate, tend to increase constipation in the constipated persons. Such persons should, therefore, avoid calcium carbonate and preferably take dicalcium phosphate. Dilute phosphoric acid is much more effective than dicalcium phosphate in combating constipation, as it provides the laxative phosphate radical without the constipating calcium. Persons suffering from constipation and related problems should avoid fasting and semi-starvation diets as such practices make constipation more severe. As exercise makes constipation worse, the constipated persons should avoid too much exercise and must take adequate rest. Men should avoid excessive indulgence in sex and conserve their semen. Men who have too much sex and lose a lot of semen can become very constipated. During the period of lactation, women should not breast-feed their infants excessively, as that may cause constipation in them. A low hemoglobin level tends to cause constipation. A severely anemic person who gets a blood transfusion can even get cured of chronic constipation. To tackle chronic constipation in their patients, nutrition therapists can prescribe proper doses of one or more of the laxative salts like sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, magnesium hydroxide, sodium phosphate, potassium phosphate and magnesium phosphate. They can also prescribe with caution minute quantities of one or more salts of laxative micronutrients like potassium iodide, sodium iodide, manganese sulfate, zinc sulfate and chromium trichloride. The intake of a proper combination of laxative salts can even produce a bowel motion in a constipated person within 30 minutes! However, the overdoses of laxative salts must be strictly avoided. ★★High BP & Heart Disease★★ All the constipating factors are synergists in raising the blood pressure. The greater intakes of the constipating factors cause the retention of greater amounts of sodium chloride (salt) and water in the body, which results in the elevation of the blood pressure. The dietary factors that can increase the blood pressure are the greater intakes of vitamin A (especially preformed vitamin A as in pills), vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), niacin, folic acid, protein, fat, fluoride, chloride, (bromide), nitrate, copper, calcium, etc. Foods that are deficient in laxative factors also tend to cause constipation and raise the blood pressure. For example, the refined foods like white bread, other white flour products, sugar products, and white polished rice tend to cause constipation and high blood pressure in those who consume them regularly. The consumption of foods rich in the constipating factors should be reduced to bring down the blood pressure and to decrease the chances of heart attacks and strokes. Such foods include meats, eggs, nuts, fats (especially saturated animal fats), coffee and acidic items like sour lemon juice which contains citric acid. Some spices like cumin seeds (jeera), fennel seeds (saunf), mustard seeds, mustard powder, cinnamon (daalchini) and fenugreek (methi) are known to cause constipation and should be avoided. Meats cured with salts containing nitrate, like Chile saltpeter and saltpeter, should be totally avoided. The regular consumption of some constipating item like betel nut (areca nut) is very dangerous for persons who are prone to heart attacks and strokes. Betel nut can cause heart attacks and strokes in susceptible persons. All persons who are prone to heart attacks and strokes should avoid certain killer combinations of nutrients. A patient, suffering from heart disease, who takes a pill containing a large amount of vitamin A immediately before or after eating a meal rich in protein and fat, can collapse in a few minutes and die soon of a heart attack. Preformed vitamin A, as available in pills, forms an incompatible combination with an iron salt. The high doses of vitamin A and an iron salt taken with protein, fat and acids form an instant killer. The addition of vitamin K, folic acid, copper, fluoride, nitrate and other constipating factors makes this killer combination even more extremely toxic. Even the strongest persons in the world cannot easily survive after taking these various combinations of instant killers. The other factors that can increase the blood pressure are the constipating drugs and medicines, and constipating adulterants, residues of constipating pesticides and other constipating contaminants in foods and drinks. The foods and drinks which are rich in the laxative factors help in lowering the blood pressure and in preventing heart disease associated with constipation and high blood pressure. Persons having constipation and high blood pressure should increase the intakes of laxative dietary factors such as vitamin C, vitamin D, thiamine (vitamin B1), pantothenate, magnesium, manganese, potassium, iodine, chromium, phosphate, zinc, etc. Persons suffering from constipation and high blood pressure should eat foods prepared with iodized salt. Calcium supplements, which do not contain the phosphate radical, like calcium carbonate, tend to increase constipation, high blood pressure and heart disease in the persons who take such calcium supplements. Persons with constipation, high blood pressure and heart disease should prefer dicalcium phosphate and avoid calcium carbonate. They should not drink hard water which contains calcium chloride and calcium sulfate. Toothpastes and mouth washes containing fluoride and fluoridated water can cause very severe constipation, high blood pressure and heart disease, and therefore should be avoided. Foods cooked in non-stick teflon-coated utensils should be avoided as they get contaminated with fluoride. Heat-resistant glass and good quality enamel-coated utensils are best for cooking foods. As copper is a constipating factor, the constipated persons should not consume foods and drinks stored or prepared in copper vessels. Persons prone to constipation should not have dental fillings, caps or bridges containing copper. Their teeth should be free of copper. Prolonged and strenuous exercise should be avoided as it is bad for persons with heart disease because it can cause constipation. Excessive indulgence in sex, leading to excessive loss of semen, should be avoided by men as it can give them constipation which can lead to high blood pressure and heart disease. The loss of blood due to injuries and blood donations can also cause constipation and increase the blood pressure. Loss of blood due to heavy menstruation can give constipation and high blood pressure to women. ★How is Non-Insulin-Deficiency Diabetes Caused?★ Instead of non-insulin-dependent diabetes, this type of diabetes should be called non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. The excessive intakes of the dietary constipating factors can cause non-insulin-deficiency diabetes in susceptible persons. The regular consumption of foods that are deficient in the laxative factors can also cause constipation and non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. For example, the refined foods like white bread, other white flour products, sugar products, and white polished rice tend to cause non-insulin-deficiency diabetes in those who consume such foods regularly. The other factors that can increase the blood sugar and cause non-insulin-deficiency diabetes are the constipating drugs and medicines, constipating adulterants, residues of constipating pesticides and other constipating contaminants in foods and drinks. Why do the excessive intakes of the dietary constipating factors cause non-insulin-deficiency diabetes? In the condition of constipation, there is greater stability of the organic biochemicals like protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), niacin, folic acid, etc, including the hormones like insulin, in the body. Due to chronic constipation, protein, fat, carbohydrate and other biochemicals become very stable and cannot be broken up at a normal rate. There is a much slower break up and utilization of protein, fat and glycogen (human carbohydrate) so they tend to accumulate in the body. When they get saturated in the body, even the glucose level gradually begins to rise in the blood leading to diabetes. In this type of diabetes, there is more than enough insulin in the bodies of patients, as insulin becomes more stable than it is in normal individuals. The insulin is too stable to be utilized properly, and this insulin prevents conversion of an adequate amount of glycogen into glucose to provide enough energy. The person affected by diabetes associated with chronic constipation tends to gain weight as the stored energy reserves in the form of glycogen cannot be broken up and utilized at the normal rate. When glycogen becomes saturated in the cells of the muscles of the body, the glucose level starts rising in the blood, as not much glucose can be sent to the cells of the body to be converted into glycogen. The glucose also becomes too stable to be broken up efficiently to produce energy. When more and more glucose accumulates in the blood, diabetes makes its presence. The body then tries to get rid of the excess of glucose through the urine, which can increase the frequency of urination and the volume of urine. Insulin should not be administered in the non-insulin-deficiency diabetes, because the extra insulin can cause an excessive accumulation of glycogen in the cells of the body leading to many related problems like the formation of more cholesterol, heart disease and cancer. The administration of insulin can even make this type of diabetes worse. ★★Cure for Non-Insulin-Deficiency Diabetes★★ In non-insulin-deficiency diabetes, there are real or relative deficiencies of the laxative factors in the body. The consumption of foods and drinks, which are rich in the laxative factors, helps in lowering the blood sugar in persons who have non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. Persons having constipation and non-insulin-deficiency diabetes should increase the consumption of foods and drinks that are rich in the laxative nutrients like vitamin B1 (thiamine), pantothenate, vitamin C, vitamin D, phosphate (phosphoric acid in dilute form), manganese, magnesium, zinc, potassium, iodine, chromium, etc. If you have non-insulin-deficiency diabetes, you should reduce the intakes of the constipating factors. Food supplements and medical preparations containing the constipating factors can be harmful for persons with NIDD. You should try to avoid the consumption of foods that are very rich in the constipating nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), niacin, tryptophan (an amino acid), folic acid, protein, fat, organic acids like citric acid, calcium, fluoride, chloride, nitrates, copper, etc. The patients should consume more quantities of the unrefined foods, that are rich in laxative factors, like whole-wheat flour products and brown unpolished rice, vegetables and fruits like papaya, brinjal (eggplant), guar (cluster beans), bitter gourd, cauliflower, cabbage, etc. They should consume moderate quantities of protein-rich beans, moong and other pulses and legumes. They should consume vegetable soups which are rich in the laxative nutrients and can be beneficial for them. They should greatly reduce the consumption of foods that contain animal protein, animal fat, eggs, butter, cheese, etc. Meats cured with salts containing nitrate, like Chile saltpeter and saltpeter, should be totally avoided. They should consume some quantity of foods containing carotene instead of preformed vitamin A. If you have constipation and non-insulin-deficiency diabetes, drinking wheat water can provide you with extra quantities of many laxative nutrients. For getting wheat water, unwashed wheat should be boiled in water. Half a cup of wheat can be boiled in one and a half cups of water for 2 minutes. The brew should be left standing for not more than about 5 minutes. It should be strained within a short time, otherwise wheat will begin to absorb most of the water. Drink the wheat water hot or cold, once or twice in a day, according to your need. Don't consume the boiled wheat, but throw it away as it no longer contains most of its original vitamins and minerals. Persons with constipation and non-insulin-deficiency diabetes should consume milk and milk products fortified with vitamin D. They should also expose their skins to sunshine for some time daily because that can make their skins synthesize vitamin D. They should use iodized salt in place of ordinary salt. If the constipation persists, the diabetics can also use milk of magnesia, magnesium sulfate and some other laxative salts of essential minerals. The intake of calcium supplements, which do not contain the phosphate radical, like calcium carbonate, tend to increase constipation and high blood sugar in the persons who have non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. Persons with constipation and high blood sugar should preferably take dicalcium phosphate and avoid calcium carbonate. They should not drink hard water which contains calcium chloride and calcium sulfate. Taking beverages containing dilute phosphoric acid helps in undoing the constipating effect and related problems caused by excess calcium in the body. In diabetes associated with hypothyroidism, thyroxin may be given to the patients for some time. As a nutritionist, I do not favor the use of hormones for any long-term treatment, as hormone therapies can produce many side effects. It is better to make the patients consume iodized salt regularly as a long-term measure to treat hypothyroidism. This measure should also help to control the symptoms of non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. Toothpastes and mouth washes containing fluoride and fluoridated water can cause very severe constipation, high blood sugar and non-insulin-dependent diabetes. Therefore, fluoride-rich products should be avoided by the diabetics. Foods cooked in non-stick teflon-coated utensils should also be avoided as they get contaminated with fluoride. Heat-resistant glass and good quality enamel-coated utensils are the best for cooking foods. As copper is a constipating factor, the constipated persons should not consume foods and drinks stored or prepared in copper vessels. Persons prone to constipation, high blood sugar and non-insulin-deficiency diabetes, should not have dental fillings, caps or bridges containing copper. Their teeth should be free of copper. Prolonged and strenuous exercise causes constipation and should be avoided by persons with high blood sugar and non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. Excessive indulgence in sex, leading to the excessive loss of semen, should be avoided by men, as it is extremely constipating and can gradually lead to high blood sugar and non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. The loss of blood due to any injuries and blood donations can cause constipation and increase the blood sugar in persons with non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. Excessive loss of blood due to heavy menstruation can cause constipation and increase the blood sugar in women with non-insulin-deficiency diabetes. During the period of lactation, women, who excessively breast-feed their extremely hungry older infants, may suffer from constipation. They should avoid excessive breast-feeding of their infants, as the excessive loss of milk from their mammary glands makes the effects of their non-insulin-deficiency diabetes worse. With the guidance of an expert nutritionist, constipated persons with non-insulin-deficiency diabetes should take some suitable tonics or food supplements which contain laxative nutrients like vitamin B1, pantothenate, vitamin C, vitamin D, phosphate (as in dilute phosphoric acid), manganese, magnesium, zinc, potassium, iodine, chromium, etc. Diabetics should avoid mental tension, because mental tension produces toxic chemicals that spread to the whole body and weaken it further. ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● ★★CONSTIPATION due to IRRADIATED Foods★★ Irradiation of foods is done for reducing spoilage by killing the pathogenic bacteria and harmful insects. Irradiation is also used for preventing the sprouting and ripening in vegetables and fruits. Irradiation of foods causes massive losses of Vitamin B1 and Vitamin C, which can be even up to 90 per cent! The regular consumption of such foods can cause EXTREMELY SEVERE CONSTIPATION, which cannot be relieved even by the regular use of laxatives. Even the highly experienced doctors cannot easily find out the real reason for such SEVERE CONSTIPATION caused by the IRRADIATED FOODS, which can destroy Vitamin B1, Vitamin C and other biochemicals even within the bodies of the persons who consume such foods! This chronic constipation due to the IRRADIATED FOODS can be associated with edema, high blood pressure, high levels of fat and cholesterol, heart disease, headaches, sleeplessness, mental depression, chronic fatigue, non-insulin-deficiency diabetes (NIDD), leukemia, tumors and cancer. Even the fiber-rich foods made from multigrains can become EXTREMELY CONSTIPATING after they are treated with IRRADIATION, which causes MASSIVE DESTRUCTION of Vitamin B1, Vitamin C and other nutrients in such foods, as well as in the bodies of people who consume such foods. Almost all of the packed foods and drinks, which have shelf lives of many months, or even a couple of years, are HIGHLY IRRADIATED items. ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
  11. i've had SD on my face for a month now. last week i finally went to my derm because nothing else was working. he prescribed nizoral cream. i know i've only been using it for about a week, but i'm still anxious about my results. for a couple days it was starting to peel off, but last night it came back full-blown and i'm getting really depressed because i finally cleared my skin up recently and i thought i wouldn't have to deal with this "feeling-too-ugly-to-leave-the-house" nonsense anymore. from what i can tell the peeling helps but as my skin is sensitive i don't want to use any harsh potions to induce peeling. my doc said i could go back and see him if the nizoral cream didn't work within two weeks, and i'm glad he's willing to help me combat this aggressively, but i've done some googling and i'm getting scared because i'm hearing these horror stories of people having to deal with the same SD patch for years. i'm currently using nizoral and pine tar soap and also taking acidophilus, biotin, zinc, and vitamin c. anyone else know something i can do? i heard that washing your face with head and shoulders and leaving the lather on for a few minutes helps?
  12. ★★★RELATIONSHIP between DIARRHEA, Low BP & DIABETES★★★ There are two main types of diabetes mellitus which are known as Insulin-Dependent Diabetes (IDD) and Non-Insulin-Dependent Diabetes (NIDD). One can understand that low blood sugar (glucose) is the opposite of high blood sugar as in diabetes. But how should one understand that one type of diabetes has many symptoms that are the opposite of the symptoms found in the other type of diabetes, even though both types of diabetes raise the blood-sugar levels? In diabetes, the fasting blood-sugar level rises above the normal limit of 120 mg per 100 ml of blood. The normal fasting blood-sugar range is about 80 to 120 mg per 100 ml of blood. Why should the two types of diabetes raise the blood sugar and yet have many other symptoms that are of the opposite types? This paradox about the two types of diabetes is one of the most difficult problems to understand in the sphere of Nutrition and Health. I had to find out a way to understand the paradox about the two forms of diabetes, which is the reason I could cure myself of diabetes about 33 years back. I had to solve the riddle of diabetes for my own personal benefit. Both of my parents had diabetes, and they came from families prone to diabetes. While many of my diabetic relatives took drugs to control their blood-sugar levels, I have never taken any drug to keep my blood-sugar level normal. The fact that seems most surprising to others is that I have also been consuming sweet foods and drinks for all these years, except for a period of a few months! In those few months, I used artificial sweeteners like saccharin and aspartame, which I had to give up because I got pain in the muscles and bones. In spite of what I state, other people are not ready to believe the fact that I cured myself of active diabetes, and I have kept my blood sugar under control for many years, just by balancing the different dietary factors. In fact, I have not taken any allopathic or non-allopathic drugs in the last 46 years to treat myself for any disease. The artificial sweeteners, which I could use only for a few months, were meant to replace sugar in my foods and drinks and not for curing diabetes. I have preferred to use only the suitable combinations of vitamins, essential minerals and other nutrients to treat myself for any disease in all these years. According to my research, the basic cause of IDD is persistent or recurrent diarrhea in the affected persons. The basic cause of NIDD is chronic or recurrent constipation in the affected persons. So, for understanding the nature of the two types of diabetes, it is necessary to know what are the causes of persistent diarrhea and chronic constipation. Broadly speaking, to be free from both the types of diabetes, the general rule for any person is to avoid both diarrhea and constipation. This is my basic theory on controlling diabetes. To be more scientific, one must avoid both diarrhea and constipation by adjusting the intakes of only the essential dietary factors as far as possible. It is not really easy to succeed in this, as corrections are required in the intakes of many essential dietary factors. ★★★Causes of Diarrhea★★★ Diarrhea is caused by various combinations of the following factors: 1. Excessive amounts of the laxative nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin D, thiamine (vitamin B1), pantothenate, magnesium, manganese, sodium, potassium, iodine, chromium, phosphates and some other compounds of phosphorus, zinc, etc. 2. Deficiencies of the constipating nutrients. 3. Laxative medicines and drugs. 4. Laxative additives, adulterants and contaminants in foods and drinks. 5. Residues of laxative pesticides and petroleum products in foods and drinks. 6. Lack of exercise and excessive rest. 7. Overeating which results in the excess of energy available to the body. 8. Prolonged retention of semen (in men) due to lack of sex. 9. Hyperthyroidism. 10. Polycythemia (high RBC count). Abstinence from sex makes diarrhea much worse in young men. During the period of lactation women, who do not breast-feed their infants, may suffer from diarrhea due to the retention of milk in their mammary glands. The symptoms associated with persistent or recurrent diarrhea are damage to the gastro-intestinal tract, dehydration, fever, low blood pressure, heart disease associated with low blood pressure, rapid loss of weight and chronic fatigue. The other symptoms in this condition can include insulin-deficiency diabetes (IDD), acidosis, gout, low levels of fat and cholesterol in the body, ulcers, ulcerous cancers, etc. ★★Cures for Diarrhea & Related Diseases★★ Persons suffering from diarrhea, low blood pressure, insulin-deficiency diabetes and other associated problems should take greater amounts of the constipating dietary factors such as: Vitamin A Vitamin E Vitamin K Riboflavin (vitamin B2) Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) Niacin Tryptophan (an amino acid) Folic acid Protein Fat Some organic acids like citric acid (but not vitamin C) Calcium Fluoride Chloride (Bromide) Nitrates and some other compounds of nitrogen Copper Etc. Generally speaking, I consider protein and fat to be constipating factors. ★Note of Caution: High doses of the nutrients should not be given once the symptoms of diarrhea are controlled. Moving too fast in the opposite direction can bring new symptoms of the opposite condition that can frighten the patients. Nutrition therapists must have the knowledge about such critical stages. Lower doses of nutrients should be given once the change from the diarrheal stage to the constipating tendency is noticed. The treatment should be changed or even stopped once the original symptoms disappear. ★The salts of micronutrients like fluoride, copper, vitamin K and folic acid should be taken only on the advice of an expert nutritionist. Even small overdoses of such micronutrients taken regularly can be toxic. Patients suffering from diarrhea, and the other associated symptoms, should reduce the intakes of laxative dietary factors such as vitamin C, vitamin D, thiamine (vitamin B1), pantothenate, magnesium, manganese, sodium, potassium, iodine, chromium, phosphates and other compounds of phosphorus, zinc, etc. They should avoid laxative medicines and drugs as well as foods containing laxative additives, laxative contaminants, and residues of laxative pesticides and petroleum products. ★Foods Should be Boiled & Water Thrown Away★ For persons suffering from persistent diarrhea, the vegetables, fruits and other items used in their diets should be thoroughly washed, as that can help in removing the pesticides sprayed on them in the fields and storehouses. Also, such patients should eat only those vegetables, pulses, meat, chicken, etc, that are cooked after they are first boiled in water for some time and the water is thrown away. For example, potatoes, spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, radishes, beetroots, peas, beans, gram, lentil, moong, meat, chicken, rice, etc, can be boiled for some time first, and the water thrown away, before they are cooked further. Boiling them in water, and discarding that water, reduces the quantities of the laxative factors like potassium, magnesium, phosphate, manganese, chromium, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin B1 (thiamine), etc, in such foods. Tomato and sour lemon juice can also be added to the boiled and cooked vegetables, pulses, meat, chicken, etc, to make them more effective in curing diarrhea. This procedure should be followed as long as it is necessary to control diarrhea. I am definitely not joking when I state that the nutrient-rich water used for boiling the foods of patients having diarrhea should be thrown away. This is not exactly an ideal solution, but the first requirement is to save a patient's life in such a bad situation. Only when the causes of diarrhea are identified, and steps are taken to remove such causes, can this procedure be stopped. For example, one such cause of persistent diarrhea can be the consumption of cooking oil contaminated with residues of petroleum products. Finding out the actual cause of diarrhea and stopping the consumption of the contaminated oil, and then correcting and balancing the diet to make it normal, can take some time. There is no need to be dogmatic on this issue of conserving nutrients. Persons suffering from diarrhea must avoid even the relative excesses of laxative nutrients in their diet. We must not overlook the importance of the relative excesses and relative deficiencies of nutrients in the bodies of patients with the different types of health problems. All the therapies should be based on logical thinking rather than on the dogmatic and wrong belief that we require more and more quantities of all the essential nutrients. A particular patient's needs at a particular time should determine how much of the different nutrients he should be given. Nutrition Therapy must be made a dynamic form of medical treatment. The dietary treatment should be changed according to the actual needs of an individual patient at a particular time. No treatment should be continued when it is no longer required by any particular patient. The patients with diarrhea should not consume fiber-rich carbohydrate foods like unrefined cereals, vegetables and fruits. They should preferably eat white polished rice and refined white-flour foods instead of whole-wheat flour foods. The refined foods, which are poor in the laxative vitamins and minerals, should be given to such patients till they get cured of diarrhea. Indigestible dietary fiber or roughage, consisting of cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, pectin, is present in large amounts in the whole-grain flour products, bran-enriched foods, peas, beans and pulses, leafy and root vegetables, and fruits, especially with their skins. Dietary fiber is considered biochemically inert in the gastro-intestinal tracts of humans. Biochemically, pure dietary fiber should be considered neither a laxative nor a constipating factor in its action. But the dietary fiber can be packed with many laxative and some constipating factors, as in the brans of wheat, rice and other grains, leaves of vegetables and skins of fruits. Dietary fiber can also absorb a lot of water in the gastro-intestinal tract, and thus can help in producing peristalsis in the intestines. So dietary fiber can be considered as a factor that may physically help in the production of peristalsis in the gastro-intestinal tract. ★★More Measures to Control Diarrhea★★ The following salts are laxative and so the processed foods, drinks and medical preparations containing them should be avoided by persons with diarrhea: Sodium sulfate = Na2SO4 (purgative). Potassium sulfate = K2SO4 (purgative). Magnesium sulfate = MgSO4. Magnesium hydroxide (milk of magnesia) = Mg(OH)2. Sodium phosphate = Na3PO4. Potassium phosphate = K3PO4. Magnesium phosphate = Mg3(PO4)2. Laxative salts of micronutrients: Potassium iodide = KI. Sodium Iodide = NaI. Zinc sulfate = ZnSO4. Other salts of zinc. Manganese sulfate = MnSO4. Other salts of manganese. Chromium trichloride = CrCl3. Other salts of chromium. In the condition of diarrhea, patients should avoid cola drinks containing phosphoric acid, vitamin D-fortified milk and iodized salt. Chemical compounds like potassium iodide and sodium iodide are used for the iodization of table salt. The excess of iodine can cause diarrhea due to an excessive formation of thyroxin in the bodies of persons consuming such salt. Instead of consuming milk for getting calcium, patients should take tablets containing calcium carbonate, as that salt can help in controlling diarrhea. They should also avoid eating highly spiced foods, onion, especially raw onion, and garlic. Persons suffering from diarrhea and related problems should avoid overeating, because overeating produces a laxative tendency. They should take exercise regularly as exercise helps in checking diarrhea. Exposure of the skin to sunshine should be reduced to prevent the formation of too much vitamin D in the body. Even the heat of sunshine should be considered as a laxative factor because it provides energy. Men should not let semen accumulate in their bodies for a long time, as that can produce a laxative effect. Blood-letting helps in curing diarrhea in persons having polycythemia or high red-blood cell count. During the period of lactation, women should not avoid breast-feeding their infants, as the retention of milk in the mammary glands may cause diarrhea in them. ★How is Insulin-Deficiency Diabetes Caused?★ Instead of insulin-dependent diabetes, this type of diabetes should be called insulin-deficiency diabetes. The excessive intakes of the dietary laxative factors can cause insulin-deficiency diabetes in susceptible persons. The regular consumption of foods that are deficient in the constipating factors can also cause diarrhea and insulin-deficiency diabetes. The other factors that can increase the blood sugar and cause insulin-deficiency diabetes are the laxative drugs and medicines, laxative adulterants, residues of laxative pesticides, residues of petroleum products and other laxative contaminants in foods and drinks. Why do the excessive intakes of laxative factors cause insulin-deficiency diabetes? In the condition of diarrhea, there is a faster and greater break up of the organic biochemicals like protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), niacin, folic acid, etc, including hormones like insulin, in the body. In this type of diabetes, there is a massive formation of glucose due to the massive splitting of protein, fat and glycogen (carbohydrate) in the body. In severe cases of IDD, there is even a wasting of tissues of the muscles and other organs due to the rapid destruction of protein and fat. In the body, most of the glucose is normally produced from the carbohydrate of the foods consumed. In the liver, glucose is also produced from fat and amino acids. Glycogen is produced from glucose in the liver and in the muscle cells. Insulin is the anabolic hormone which helps in converting glucose to glycogen. One main function of insulin is to prevent the accumulation of too much glucose in the body. Insulin thus helps in making the utilization and oxidation of glucose gradual and continuous. During persistent diarrhea, which causes a deficiency of insulin, not much glycogen can be formed or stored in the body. In IDD, the rise in the blood-glucose level is due to the excessive formation of glucose especially from the rapid break up of protein and fat. In the diabetic state, to prevent itself from further harm, the body tries to get rid of the excessive amount of glucose by excreting it through the kidneys as a constituent of urine. To facilitate this process, urine becomes copious and urination becomes frequent. Why do such diabetics require insulin injections regularly or even every day? Obviously, the insulin is used up faster because the laxative biochemical factors in the body rapidly destroy insulin just like they destroy the other organic compounds such as protein, fat, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), niacin, folic acid, etc. When there is a massive splitting up of protein, fat and other organic compounds, not much new insulin can be formed in the body. Even the limited amounts of insulin in the body are destroyed fast. Insulin-deficiency diabetes is caused by the rapid destruction of insulin and by the non-formation or inadequate formation of new insulin. How does the administration of insulin help the diabetics? The administration of insulin slows down the break up of protein, fat and carbohydrate (glycogen) by making them more stable, and this reduces the formation of glucose which also brings down the blood glucose levels. In this way, insulin helps to control diabetes. According to my research, insulin should be a constipating factor. I am sure that the administration of insulin can even control some of the symptoms of one type of AIDS. I wonder why an anabolic hormone like insulin is not used to treat this type of AIDS instead of giving the highly toxic anti-retroviral drugs to the patients! As a nutritionist, I do not favor the adoption of hormone therapies for long periods, but I am not against the use of hormones in treating serious cases which involve life-threatening emergencies or other critical situations. As far as possible, hormones should not be used for long-term therapies, as their prolonged use can produce serious side-effects in the patients. The hormone therapies also cannot treat the basic causes of diseases. ★★Cure for Insulin-Deficiency Diabetes★★ In the insulin-deficiency diabetes, there are real or relative deficiencies of the constipating factors in the body. If you have insulin-deficiency diabetes, you should consume foods that are rich in the constipating nutrients like preformed vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), niacin, tryptophan (an amino acid), folic acid, protein, fat, organic acids like citric acid, calcium, fluoride, chloride, nitrates and some other compounds of nitrogen, copper, etc. The consumption of foods containing animal protein, animal fat and eggs is beneficial in this condition. The constipating nutrients help in a similar way as insulin does. They can make even insulin more stable. If you have insulin-deficiency diabetes, you should reduce the intakes of the laxative factors. Food supplements and medical preparations containing laxative factors can be harmful for persons with IDD. You should try to avoid the consumption of foods that are very rich in the laxative nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin D, thiamine (vitamin B1), pantothenate, magnesium, manganese, sodium, potassium, iodine, chromium, phosphates and other compounds of phosphorus, zinc, etc. Patients with IDD should particularly avoid cola drinks containing phosphoric acid, vitamin D-fortified milk, iodized salt, and vitamin C enriched beverages. We must realize that even the water-soluble vitamin C supplements can do a lot of harm if they are taken regularly in this condition. The administration of thyroxin can trigger an attack of insulin-deficiency diabetes in the patients who are prone to it, but I know that many allopathic doctors actually prescribe thyroxin to patients who suffer from diarrhea and have insulin-deficiency diabetes! The administration of thyroxin must be avoided in such cases, as it makes both the diarrhea and insulin-deficiency diabetes worse, and can even kill the patients. Iodized salt should also be avoided by such patients, as the excess of iodine causes hyperthyroidism which is associated with diarrhea and insulin-deficiency diabetes. Vitamin D is a laxative factor, and so exposure of the skin to sunshine should be reduced or avoided by persons with insulin-deficiency diabetes. You should find out a way to avoid the excessive ingestion of zinc that results from the drinking of water supplied through zinc-coated galvanized pipes, tanks and other vessels. The excessive amounts of zinc can very easily enter foods, drinks and medicines. Persons with insulin-deficiency diabetes should not have dental fillings, caps or bridges containing zinc. Their teeth should be free of zinc. The ingestion of large amounts of zinc is known to cause a severe deficiency or relative deficiency of copper in the human body. Copper can help in reducing the effectiveness of zinc. So drinking some quantity of water stored in a copper vessel is beneficial. The chromium-plated utensils should not be used for cooking or storing foods, drinks and water. The best option for persons with insulin-deficiency diabetes is to use heat-resistant glass or enamel-coated utensils of the best quality. If stainless steel utensils cannot be avoided, only the best quality stainless steel utensils should be used. In insulin-deficiency diabetes, it will be a terrible mistake for the patients to take chromium supplements, as the extra chromium can do terrible harm to them. The patients with insulin-deficiency diabetes should not have any dental fillings, caps or bridges containing chromium. Their teeth should be free of chromium. Blood-letting can help in curing diabetes in persons having polycythemia and diarrhea. The excessive intake of food increases the availability of energy nutrients in the body, which can result in the production of more glucose. Overeating produces a laxative effect. The reduction in food intake is beneficial in such cases. Lack of exercise is a laxative factor. Therefore, taking more of active physical exercise is beneficial in insulin-deficiency diabetes. Lack of sex for long periods is laxative for men. Sexual gratification, with loss of semen, is a constipating factor for men. Sexual gratification reduces the laxative effect of the large amount of semen produced in the bodies of young men. Sexual activity helps men in controlling diarrhea and in reducing the effects of insulin-deficiency diabetes. During the period of lactation, women should not avoid breast-feeding their infants, as the retention of milk in the mammary glands may cause diarrhea in them. Breast-feeding should help in reducing both the diarrhea and the effects of insulin-deficiency diabetes in lactating women. Diabetics should not add artificial sweeteners to their beverages as such additives are known to cause many harmful side-effects and even cancer in the long run. If the diabetics must consume tea and coffee with some suitable taste, they can add a little salt instead of sugar to the two beverages. Black tea or black coffee can be lightly brewed along with a little salt. A small quantity of sour lemon juice can be added to the salted black tea or coffee by any diabetic persons who prefer to have their beverages with a better taste. ★Ingestion of Petroleum Residues & Diabetes★ The ingestion of residues of petroleum products through foods and drinks can cause insulin-deficiency diabetes. The residues of petroleum products like hexane and paraffin, in contaminated and adulterated foods and drinks, cause loose motions due to the losses of large quantities of fat-soluble vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K and other nutrients. There is also a massive destruction of many organic biochemicals, including hormones like insulin, in the body. The ingestion of residues of petroleum products drastically reduces the formation of insulin and also causes the destruction of insulin in the body. The ingestion of residues of petroleum products must be stopped to be able to cure insulin-deficiency diabetes. In some countries, like India, castor oil is used on oilseeds and foodgrains to protect them from insects. As an allopathic medicine, castor oil is used regularly as a purgative by many people all over the world. Purgatives like castor oil must be strictly avoided by persons with insulin-deficiency diabetes, as they cause losses of large quantities of fat-soluble vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K and other nutrients. ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● Note on Classification of Nutrients: The general purpose classification of nutrients into the laxative factors and the constipating factors is very helpful in understanding the biochemical properties and effects of the commonly consumed foods. For the sake of easy reference, I have classified protein and fat as constipating factors, but let me state that all the types of protein and fat do not have constipating properties. Strictly speaking, each and every type of protein, amino acid, fat, fatty acid, any other organic or inorganic acid, carbohydrate, sugar, dietary mineral, and derivative of any vitamin must be precisely and correctly classified as a laxative factor or a constipating factor by nutritionists. We must also classify all the nutrients in categories other than those of laxative and constipating factors. There can no running away from the reality of such a massive task. No individual scientist or single group of nutritionists can do the massive work of listing all the nutrients in different categories. So we require millions of nutritionists for this new research, and the world is going to get them especially from among the educated housewives who cook food for their families. The nutritionists shall then form the largest individual group of scientists in the world. ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
  13. ★★★Ingestion of PETROLEUM Residues causes MANY DISEASES★★★ Hexane petrol is used as a solvent for extracting more oil from oilseeds by many manufacturers of edible oils. Hexane is one of the main petroleum contaminants that is ingested as a residue in such cooking oils, which we use for preparing different foods. Paraffin or petrolatum is another petroleum product very widely used in western countries as a protective coating for fruits and vegetables, as an anti-foaming agent in beet-sugar refining, as a release agent in bakery products, in chewing gum base, for sealing the packs of food products and beverages, in cosmetics and, in liquid form, as a laxative. Some manufacturers of table salt use paraffin wax in the proportion of about 0.5 per cent as an anti-caking agent to make the salt free flowing. Paraffin is known for causing cancer. Low-level, prolonged poisoning with hexane, paraffin and other petroleum products can cause chronic diarrhea in the affected persons. Chronic diarrhea causes massive losses of fat-soluble vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K and many other nutrients. By causing deficiencies of these nutrients, the residues of petroleum contaminants in foods can damage the mucous membranes of the gastro-intestinal tract and kidneys, causing inflammation and chronic pain in many parts of the abdomen. The affected persons can get ulcers, abdominal pain, stinky flatulence, skin problems like dandruff, dermatitis due to damage to the skin, and later even cancers of the mucous membranes and the skin. There can be rapid loss of weight in spite of adequate intake of food, fall in blood pressure, arrhythmic heartbeats and heart disease associated with low blood pressure. Many patients can also suffer from weak eyesight and insomnia. The deficiency of vitamin K causes hemophilia in many persons. ★Chronic Diarrhea can cause AIDS, Asthma, Diabetes★ The daily ingestion of petroleum-contaminated foods and drinks can produce an extremely lethargic condition and chronic fatigue, rapid premature ageing, even AIDS and early death. Consumed regularly, knowingly or unknowingly, paraffin is one of the major causes of AIDS in USA and other western countries. Chronic diarrhea and the loss of fat-soluble vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin K cause a severe deficiency of mucus in the body. Once there is a deficiency of mucus, all the mucous membranes, including those of the respiratory organs, are adversely affected and become allergic to many substances and chemicals, including some nutrients, and even the oxygen of inhaled air. So, the ingestion of petroleum-contaminated foods can cause respiratory problems like coughs, colds, bronchitis, leading even to the depressed-breathing asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis and AIDS. Why do many truck drivers get AIDS? One of the most important causes of AIDS in truck drivers is the regular inhalation of vapors from the unburned diesel and petrol and also the smoke from the burnt petroleum products. The regular inhalation of smoke and unburned vapors of petroleum products can cause allergic coughs, colds, bronchitis, asthma and other respiratory diseases in the drivers of vehicles, petrol pump attendants and garage workers. By causing the losses of large quantities of fat-soluble vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin K, as a result of chronic diarrhea, the residues of petroleum products in contaminated foods and drinks can also cause the faster breakdown of many organic biochemicals, including the hormones like insulin, in the body. Consumed regularly, the petroleum-contaminated foods and drinks cause insulin-deficiency diabetes (IDD) by drastically reducing the formation of insulin and also by rapidly destroying insulin in the body. ★Arthritis, Fractures, Loss of Teeth★ Petroleum-contaminated foods, containing residues of hexane and paraffin, can cause severe demineralization of the bones and teeth. There can be constant pain in the bones and teeth due to the deficiencies of calcium and fat-soluble vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K. The severe decalcification of bones can lead to arthritis and fractures, and the tooth decay can cause cavities and loss of teeth. As an affected person gets aches and pains in various parts of the body, he suffers from an inability to sit, stand or sleep in one position for long. The pain in the bones can also involve the spinal column. ★MILLIONS Suffer from CHRONIC BACKACHES★ One of the main reasons for the millions of people in the world to get chronic backaches is the ingestion of foods and drinks contaminated with residues of petroleum products. The residues of petroleum products can be found in oils and fats, sugar, bakery products and many other processed foods of mass consumption. Millions of people can easily get chronic back pain in the modern age due to the consumption of such petroleum-contaminated foods and drinks over a period of time. There should be a complete ban on the use of hexane petrol in the extraction of edible oil from oilseeds. Paraffin should also not be used in any form in or on food products. Petrolatum or paraffin should not be used to clarify sugar. Paraffin wax should not be used to coat fruits and vegetables. It is better to use glycerin and its products, or suitable edible oils, instead of paraffin in ointments and creams. As far as possible, we should avoid all foods and drinks that are most likely to be contaminated especially with petroleum products like hexane and paraffin. ★LPG is NOT CLEAN as it is NOT OXYGEN★ Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) consists of butane, isobutane, propane, propylene, butylenes and other gases. The impure LPG can also contain other harmful chemical additives and contaminants. Natural gas consists mainly of methane with some amounts of ethane, propane, butane and nitrogen. A warning odor is added to the domestic cooking fuel as a safety measure for precaution. Due to their designs, gas furnaces function in such a way that a little quantity of unburned gas is bound to leak out, thus polluting the air in the kitchens. Cheap low-quality LPG containing some toxic gas is passed on to consumers with a claim that the irritating smell of the gas is due to a safe additive which is an indicator to warn about any leakage of gas. ★Inhalation of LPG can cause Headaches, Asthma, Heart Problems★ The substandard LPG with the irritating smell is a very sickening substance which can easily trigger headaches, coughs and colds in the millions of housewives and other cooks who work in the kitchens. Even some forms of asthma and heart problems may be caused by the regular inhalation of harmful vapors of impure LPG contaminated with the harmful chemical additives, The cheap, impure and toxic LPG is sold in many places in India. Politicians permit the sale of poisonous products that cause epidemics of asthma, AIDS and other diseases in millions of consumers, and later they make pretences of protecting them. Health officials then wonder where the diseases like asthma and AIDS come from. They then get costly toxic drugs administered even when such drugs don't cure, as the causes are not removed. Again, huge amounts of money are made from the sale of costly drugs. ★Bits of GREASE can Contaminate Foods★ Small bits of toxic grease used for the lubrication of grinding mills can get mixed with the flour. The ingestion of grease-contaminated flour can be extremely harmful. A lubricating grease is a mixture of a mineral oil and paraffin, wax or soap. Some soaps used in making greases contain barium, aluminium, lead, lithium or zinc. Some greases also contain graphite. Billions of people consume cereal flours in different forms. Have we ever cared to find out how many people become sick due to the consumption of flour products which get contaminated with grease?
  14. ★Chemicals in Foods & Drinks can Cause Epidemics★ ★Viruses Themselves Don't Start Epidemics★ Most of the diseases and epidemics are NOT due to viruses, germs or other micro-organisms. Many diseases and epidemics are mainly caused by the chemical adulteration and contamination of foods and drinks and the pollution of air and water. Micro-organisms can only play havoc in a body whose immunity has already been weakened by the biochemical imbalances caused by the harmful adulterants, contaminants and pollutants. It is foolish to believe that the different vaccinations and inoculations can help in preventing or curing the diseases and epidemics that are actually caused by all the old and new harmful chemicals and poisons that are present in the contaminated and adulterated foods and drinks and the environment. Many epidemics are due to the chemical contamination and adulteration of foods and drinks, which are common items of daily use like bread, biscuits, cakes, pastries, toffees, chocolates, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, butter, cheese, other milk products, salt, wheat flour, rice, cooking oils and fats, cola and other soft drinks, ice-cream, custard, alcohol, etc. Many water-borne diseases are more due to the consumption of water which is contaminated with toxic elements and chemicals rather than due to micro-organisms. In different regions of the world, water can get contaminated with toxic elements like antimony, arsenic, barium, boron, cadmium, fluoride, lead, mercury, nickel, phosphorus, etc, or with pollutants like ammonia, cyanide, detergents, hydrogen sulfide, nitrites, nitrates, pesticides, petroleum products, phosphates, phenols, suspended solids, sulfates, etc. Excessive amounts of both the inorganic and organic chemicals in contaminated water can cause different diseases. Even the water containing larger toxic quantities of essential minerals like chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, selenium, zinc, etc. can cause epidemics. Salt made from water taken from the polluted areas of the sea can produce toxic effects. ★Adulteration & Contamination cause Pandemics★ A large number of harmful additives used as preservatives, colors and flavors in foods and drinks can cause heart problems, strokes, allergies, asthma, acidosis, arthritis, spondylosis, gout, constipation, diarrhea, ulcers, diabetes, insomnia, impotence and many other diseases in millions of people depending on the different chemicals used in different food products in different parts of the world. So long as the harmful chemicals continue to enter our bodies, and the immunity against disease gets weakened, it becomes difficult even to cure a common cold in a short period. The different foods and drinks get adulterated and contaminated with different chemicals and residues of pesticides at different times, so different types of epidemics can occur in millions of people at different times of the year. The nature of the epidemics keeps changing according to the types of contaminants and adulterants that are present in our foods and drinks at different times. The changes in the toxic chemicals that have got into the foods and drinks have changed the types of epidemics that have occurred in different periods in the past. Small bits of toxic grease used for the lubrication of grinding mills can get mixed with the flour. We know that cheap toxic chemical colors, flavors, and processing and conditioning additives, used illegally in foods and drinks, can produce cancers and other dreadful diseases by causing a drastic fall in the immune response. The cancers and other diseases caused by these cheap toxic colors, flavors and other additives, become incurable especially when the banned chemicals continue to be consumed regularly by the victims, in most cases, unknowingly. Foods, spices and condiments, and drinks that are adulterated with toxic chemicals are much more dangerous than even narcotic drugs for the health of any nation. Unlike the addicts of narcotic drugs, the victims of adulterated foods and drinks are mostly unaware of the adulteration and the dangers from it. Constantly exposed to harmful chemicals, many people often become sick, inefficient, lethargic and desperate. Such persons can easily become addicted to alcohol and narcotic drugs and become even more prone to different diseases. Even the dental fillings, caps and bridges which use different toxic metals like mercury, copper, zinc, chromium, cobalt, nickel, etc, are causing epidemics of heart disease, asthma, diabetes, skin problems like pimples and boils, arthritis, cancer and other diseases all over the world? Toxic chemicals in toothpastes, toothpowders and mouthwashes can also cause epidemics. ★Governments are Suppressing Truth about Epidemics★ Why are any manufacturers allowed to fiddle with food products and get away with that? Many governments around the world are engaged in suppressing the truth about the real causes of epidemics as their occurrences represent the massive failure of the ruling classes to prevent the epidemics. The politicians and bureaucrats are only interested in protecting the manufacturers of adulterated and contaminated foods and drinks, as protecting such culprits is one of the biggest money-making businesses in the world. Most of the politicians and bureaucrats just keep filling their own pockets even as they make big pretences about protecting the interests of the people. Just two examples can prove the mentality of the western governments which set the trends in permitting the use of harmful additives in food products. Monosodium glutamate (MSG), also deceptively called hydrolyzed vegetable protein, and the artificial sweetener aspartame (with brand names like Sugar Free, NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful), are known to cause a wide range of diseases in millions of people all over the world. But the two harmful additives are still allowed to be used extensively in numerous foods and drinks by all the governments. The so-called Health Ministries, dominated by allopaths, won't stop the poisoning of different nations of the world. That would make the allopaths and pharmaceutical MNCs suffer huge losses! Such poisoning of the masses, which cause epidemics, helps the allopaths and MNCs to mint money in huge amounts. Instead of stopping the poisoning of millions of people, the allopaths themselves are all the time engaged in administering their own poisonous drugs to the people. The allopaths want the people to be always dependent on their poisonous allopathic potions all their lives. So, for the allopaths, there is no need to halt the adulteration and contamination of foods and drinks. The allopathic drugs suppress the symptoms of some diseases and cause many new diseases due to their own toxicity. ★Indian Adulterators have Created Panic in the World★ Some years back, just a little quantity of the red synthetic dye sudan 1 in the adulterated Indian chilli powder added to many food products created widespread panic in Britain, Italy, France, other European countries, USA, Canada and New Zealand. The banned cancer-causing dye is commonly used in solvents, oils, waxes and shoe polish. Food products like sauces, pies, pasta, pizzas, salad dressings, of top food companies worth millions of dollars had to be recalled from the supermarkets in Europe and America. It proves that the Indian food adulterators have financially become so powerful that they can now even give huge bribes to executives of many top European and American manufacturers of food products to make them buy and use adulterated Indian chillies, other spices and other harmful food products. Now the Indian food adulterators have the financial clout to do business at the international level by selling their poisonous products even to the richest countries of the world. After having successfully poisoned all the Indians for many decades, the Indian adulterators have now become so extremely bold that they have started poisoning the people all over the world with their adulterated food products. They have become so daring that they have set out to poison even the richest and most powerful countries in the western world! A wide coverage was given by many Indian newspapers and newsmedia to the occurrence of adulteration of food products consumed in Europe and America. Why are the Indian newspapers and newsmedia concerned more about the health of a few million foreigners than about the health of Indian people who number more than one and a quarter billion? Almost all Indian foods and beverages are adulterated and contaminated with many toxic chemicals, which we have been consuming daily for many decades. What have the editors and journalists of the newspapers really done to stop the adulteration and contamination of food products in India? Millions of Indians become sick regularly and even die prematurely because of the regular consumption of adulterated and contaminated foods and drinks. In India, we know that the corrupt bureaucrats and politicians deliberately avoid to take drastic action against most of the food adulterators because of the fat bribes they get regularly. The corrupt politicians and bureaucrats are also partners and shareholders in most of the lucrative businesses and industries. Why would such fellows close down the adulteration and contamination industry, which is one of the biggest money spinners for them? They only know how to make a great show of their patriotism and their honesty before the people. Their so-called patriotism is adulterated with hypocrisy and their so-called honesty is contaminated with deceit. ★Adulteration is India's Largest Industry★ The massive adulteration of foods and drinks in India is the largest industry of our country based on fraud. Almost all our refined and processed food products are highly contaminated and adulterated. There is no effective quality control over the manufacture and sale of food products of mass consumption. Chemical adulterants, other harmful additives, contaminants like residues of pesticides and petroleum products in processed foods of mass consumption are definitely causing many epidemics in India very regularly. Bottled water and cola drinks are not the only products contaminated with harmful chemicals and residues of pesticides. In India it is very common to get low quality, spurious or duplicate foods and drinks like bread, biscuits, cakes, pastries, toffees, chocolates, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, butter, cheese, other milk products, salt, wheat flour, rice, cooking oils and fats, soft drinks, ice-cream, custard, alcohol, etc. Spices and dry fruits, due to their high prices, are sprayed generously with large amounts of pesticides to prevent them from being attacked by insects. It does not matter to the suppliers and traders if, in the process, human beings getting poisoned! Chillies, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cloves (lavang) and cinnamon bark (dalchini) are the spices most commonly adulterated in India. Cheap harmful preservatives are added to pickles. The packaged brands of edible oils and fats are also very commonly adulterated. Many of them are spurious as they are packed illegally by unknown people who use the brand names of well-known manufacturers of oils and fats. Even salt and sugar are adulterated and contaminated. The powdered dung of the holy cows is most widely used in the adulteration of coriander powder and other spices. Traces of the urine of holy cows may be even deliberately mixed in milk to make it the holy elixir that may be fed to the millions of Indian people without their knowledge. According to some dogmatist and obscurantist Hindu leaders that would also make India remain a Hindu-majority country for ever! There are many other harmful adulterants which are widely used in different food products in India. Brick powder is used for adulterating chillies. Sawdust is very commonly mixed with coriander powder and other spices. White powdered stone or chalk is found in common salt. Powdered sugar may have washing soda, chalk or white flour (maida) in it. Copper salts are used for coloring pickles and lady's fingers (okra). Lead chromate is used for coloring cheap adulterants, like sawdust, which are mixed with turmeric. Lead poisoning can cause anemia, paralysis, mental retardation, brain damage and miscarriages. Malachite green is applied to fennel seeds (saunf). Black pepper is adulterated with look-alike papaya seeds. Metanil yellow is widely used for coloring sweets and pulses (like arhar, moong and chana daal). Cancer-causing coal tar dyes are used for coloring coffee, tea and pulses. Ghee and butter are very commonly adulterated with cheap hydrogenated fats (vanaspati). Ice-cream can contain washing powder. Oxytocin found in contaminated milk is known to cause abortions and sterility. ★Synthetic Milk Kills & Maims Millions of Indians★ India has the dubious distinction of starting a bogus white revolution. Why should our government falsely state that our country is the largest producer of milk in the world? What is the nature and quality of that milk? India is, in fact, the largest producer of adulterated milk. Milk is adulterated not just with water, but also with the poisonous synthetic milk. India may or may not be the world's largest producer of milk, but India certainly deserves to be awarded the gold medal for being the largest producer of synthetic milk in the world! After getting our bodies poisoned, our most corrupt political leaders and bureaucrats still expect the poisoned lazy bones and muscles of our athletes to help them win medals in the Olympics! The sale of adulterated milk has increased enormously in India. Synthetic milk is a fluid mixture which looks like milk. So, milk is increasingly adulterated with synthetic milk which contains dangerous substances like urea and liquid detergent or soap. Urea, liquid detergent, table salt, vegetable oil and sugar or glucose are mixed together in water to make synthetic milk. The addition of hydrogen peroxide increases its shelf life. The toxic liquid detergent in synthetic milk can irritate the bowels causing abdominal pains and diarrhea. It is logical to believe that the consumption of milk which is adulterated with synthetic milk can cause loss of teeth, arthritis, bone fractures and even sudden death in infants and young children. It can definitely retard the growth and development in the bodies of children and teenagers. When even the grown-ups can suffer terribly due to the consumption of synthetic milk, which causes diarrhea, asthma, swelling of the limbs, heart problems and cancer, what cannot happen to young children whose main diet is milk? The producers of synthetic milk are killing and maiming countless Indians of all ages. The producers of synthetic milk are food adulterators who are the most merciless mass murderers of millions of infants and older children in India! Can we ever know how many children die or become physically handicapped for the whole of their lives due to the consumption of synthetic milk? ★Synthetic Tea and Coffee★ Like synthetic milk, we also get synthetic tea leaves and synthetic coffee powder in India made from toxic ingredients instead of the real tea leaves and real coffee beans. The used tea leaves or cheap leaves of other plants are colored for making spurious tea. Harmful cancer-causing coal tar dyes, flavors, tannin or caffeine, preservatives and powdered sawdust may be used in producing synthetic tea or coffee. Even iron filings are mixed with spurious tea dust. Instant coffee is also likely to be adulterated because of its very high price. The brews made from synthetic tea dust and synthetic instant coffee powder may taste like tea and coffee, but the brews make consumers terribly sick and keep them sick. Instead of helping in curing colds and coughs, adulterated and contaminated tea and coffee can make them worse. They can rather become the causes of colds and coughs, which cannot be cured so long as the harmful synthetic tea and coffee brews continue to be consumed by the unfortunate victims of adulteration. Even the genuine tea leaves can be dangerous if pesticides have been sprayed on them in the tea gardens. The pesticides sprayed on the tea leaves are absorbed by the tea leaves during respiration by the tea plants. These pesticides can come out of the tea leaves only when they are brewed, and then get into the cups from which the consumers drink the contaminated tea. The consumption of adulterated and contaminated tea may be a cause of one type of SARS. How can any person who gets SARS get cured when he continues to consume the toxic tea every day? ★Contaminated Fruits & Vegetables cause Epidemics★ Instead of preventing coughs and colds, the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables contaminated with harmful chemical colors and pesticides can actually trigger coughs, colds and other illnesses. The contaminated fruits and vegetables can even prolong diseases and make them difficult to cure or control. We can sometimes get brinjals (eggplant) treated with some toxic chemical that has a very pungent or burning taste that causes sores in the mouth and food pipe. Other vegetables like cauliflower and cabbage can also contain dangerously pungent chemicals. Spinach and other leafy vegetables which have pesticides sprayed on them can do great harm to the consumers. We must know that the leaves of plants ingest the sprayed pesticides along with the air taken in during respiration (breathing) through the pores in them. These absorbed poisons cannot be removed by any amount of washing with water, as the poisons have gone deep into the inner cores of leaves along with the inspired air. The pesticides that go deep inside the cores of leafy vegetables and get stored there cannot be removed without destroying the leaves themselves. So, the leafy vegetables contaminated with sprayed pesticides are the most harmful vegetables. Many organs of the body can get adversely affected by the toxic chemicals and pesticides ingested along with food, which can cause many diseases and even cancer. We cannot easily know to what extent they can harm us because newer and newer toxic chemicals and pesticides are being used on vegetables, fruits and other food crops. ★★Pune is a City in Hell★★ The city of Pune, where I live, is a place located in a country which is the Largest Hell on Earth. Like in many other places of India where milk is adulterated with the poisonous synthetic milk, spurious milk containing dangerous chemicals is sold in Pune too. When the spurious milk gets spoilt, it does not taste sour, but it becomes unbearably offensive and extremely bitter in taste. Living in Pune, which has one of the highest percentages of AIDS cases, we have to learn how to survive in one of the most poisoned cities in the world. The manufacturers and distributors of adulterated and spurious food products are involved in committing massive frauds on the unwary and unsuspecting consumers of Pune with the connivance and collaboration of food inspectors and other government officials. Spices are very commonly adulterated. We get all types of adulterated, spurious and duplicate foods and drinks. In Pune, we get not just cola drinks laced with pesticides, we also get spurious chocolates out of which even worms can emerge! How many persons must have eaten the spurious chocolates infested with the eggs of worms before they hatched in chocolates and emerged? The eggs must have hatched and become worms in the bodies of many of the consumers of chocolates in Pune! Laboratory tests have proved that the people of Pune have been eating highly contaminated vegetables including the leafy varieties. We get tea leaves and powder containing not just the pesticides. In one case of adulterated tea dust bearing the name of a famous brand, I saw vapor from the tea dust coming out in the form of fumes! Which chemical additive in spurious tea makes the dry tea dust give out fumes? We get spurious toothpastes with dangerous chemicals which can make the teeth decay and the gums bleed. Such toothpastes, whose tubes bear the names of top international companies, are made illegally by many unlicensed industrial units in Pune. Such spurious toothpastes using the names of well-known brands have massive sales, but they make the teeth of unfortunate users decay faster and fall out many years earlier than they normally should. ★Adulteration of Cooking Oils★ Harmful additives, preservatives, colors, flavors and other chemicals used in the different brands of cooking oils can cause allergies, asthma, constipation or diarrhea, and other diseases. Argemone seeds resemble black mustard seeds. Mustard seeds adulterated with argemone seeds give a toxic cooking oil whose consumption causes dropsy. The consumption of adulterated mustard oil can lead to purging and vomiting. Besides diarrhea, dropsy causes swelling of the legs, heart disease and blindness. Castor oil can be a contaminant in cooking oils, fats and foodgrains. Castor oil used for adulterating cooking oils causes purging diarrhea. As an allopathic medicine, castor oil is used regularly as a purgative by many people all over the world. In some countries, like India, a thin coating of castor oil is used on oilseeds and foodgrains to protect them from insects. The ingestion of small quantities of castor oil can cause diarrhea in many persons. The same problem is caused by the traces of petroleum in edible oil. After its extraction from oilseeds, the cooking oil which is contaminated with the residues of hexane petrol can also cause diarrhea. ★Additives in Cooking Oils cause Impotence!★ Some new brands of cooking oils and fats, introduced in the last few years by the multinational companies (MNCs) in India and other poor developing countries, cause severe constipation, heart disease, strokes and even impotence! Many cases of impotence are due to the consumption of harmful additives present in the new brands of cooking oils that are manufactured in collaboration with MNCs. I have a very strong suspicion that some chemicals are deliberately added by the MNCs to the cooking oils and other widely used food products to cause severe impotence in millions of unsuspecting consumers at the behest of the multinational drug companies. Due to this big conspiracy of the MNCs to cause widespread impotence, millions of people who become impotent by consuming such food products manufactured by the MNCs can be compelled to take treatment regularly with the costly sex stimulants sold by the multinational drug companies. The multinational drug companies are thus able to sell their high-priced sex stimulants to more and more people to earn billions of dollars. The rich and the higher middle class people, who become impotent by consuming such oils manufactured by the MNCs, can afford to take treatments with costly sex stimulants sold by the multinational drug companies. However, the conspiracy to make millions of people impotent may be much bigger than the mere desire to sell sex stimulating drugs. Are they the measures to reduce the populations of poor developing countries through the clandestine family planning methods with the help of foreign Governments and MNCs? I suspect that the new birth control measures are being adopted secretly in India and other poor developing countries with the help of some foreign Governments and MNCs. The use of artificial sex stimulants is also known to shorten life. It seems clear that some new dangerous chemicals are being tested on the unsuspecting people of India by putting such chemicals in cooking oils and other goods of mass consumption. These cooking oils are the cheaper kinds of sunflower, soybean and palm oils that can cause premature deaths of the poor and lower middle class people who consume such oils. Unlike others, I am not surprised at the sudden deaths of some healthy persons in Pune, India. Should we not find out the details about the types of harmful chemicals that are put in the cooking oils and fats which make many poor and lower middle class consumers die prematurely in many developing countries like India? ★Has Vitamin M silenced Pesticides-in-Cola controversy?★ Will PepsiCo and Coca Cola company dare to export their pesticides-containing products bottled in India to Europe and USA to make the Europeans and Americans drink their poisoned soft drinks? If they dared to do that, the Europeans and Americans would definitely make the two companies completely bankrupt in a short period by filing millions of lawsuits against them to obtain massive damages amounting to trillions of dollars through courts. Have the massive doses of Vitamin M (Money) given to corrupt politicians and bureaucrats silenced the Pesticides-in-Cola controversy in India? Why is the issue of pesticides in Indian foods, drinks and water now being almost completely ignored? Has vitamin M buried the Pesticides-in-Cola issue deep in the Earth in India? It is clear that the massive amounts of money are being paid regularly to the extremely corrupt politicians and bureaucrats of our country by the adulterators. Vitamin M has been successfully used to hush up facts about the Pesticides-in-Cola drinks in India. Due to the extreme corruption in the bureaucracy, the Food Inspectors and other bureaucrats in India, who all want, and who get, a lot of vitamin M, are well-known for hushing up most of the cases involving adulteration and contamination of foods and drinks. LAKSHMI, the Goddess of Money & Wealth, is worshipped the most by Indians in spite of all the extreme hypocrisy about our beliefs in human and spiritual values. The loud political noise made by our hypocritical and extremely selfish leaders was only meant to extract a lot of Vitamin M from the multinational companies (MNCs), and so billions of bottles of the pesticides-laden cola drinks continue to be sold throughout India. The political ideology of our leaders based on unabashed and open worship of money will definitely lead us all collectively to mass suicide. Our leaders, from different fields, have made India the LARGEST HELL on Earth. Even our patriotism and secularism are extremely toxic, as they are full of hatred for the persons of other castes and contempt for the common people. Even though I am nearly 74 years old, I have hardly consumed 100 bottles (of about 200 ml each) of cola drinks of all types in my whole life. All my friends and relatives have laughed at my apparent foolishness in avoiding the world's most favored chilled beverage. I remember that, since my adolescence, my nervous system has been so hypersensitive to the chemicals in cola drinks that even the consumption of one bottle of the cola drink on any day has made me uneasy and sleepless in the night. chilled beverage. I remember that, since my adolescence, my nervous system has been so hypersensitive to the chemicals in cola drinks that even the consumption of one bottle of the cola drink on any day has made me uneasy and sleepless in the night.

I get a lot of emails asking me for information already posted -please be a good egg and check first. Thanks! Introduction Hello and welcome to my regime! Hopefully by reading and adopting this treatment plan you will take a major step towards dramatically improving your skin and your life. I don't make that statement lightly -people from all over the world have done just that: "My mild acne is completely gone (it took about 10 days), my blackheads are 90 % gone (I had a LOT of them) and my skin looks better than ever. I am 39 years old and I have never had so clear skin!" "'I've been using this regimen for about 2 weeks and honestly, my acne never looked better than it does now!" "I've been doing this regime about 16 days so far...pretty much all my body acne has gone." "My skin looks better than it has in a long time." "My skin and eyes are glowing." "My skin feels much smoother." "My skin is healing very quickly and swiftly in comparison to before." "When I look in the mirror every morning all I can say is WOW...PLEASE, PLEASE give this a go because it has worked a treat for me" "My oily skin has reduced by 85% and acne is 70% gone" "My oil production has stopped completely!" "Awesome results..." "I'm now addicted to the fantastic energy boost that juicing each morning gives me.." "Skin started smoothing out almost immediately....I've received compliments from family about how nice my skin looks." "Vast acne has gone from cystic and relatively severe to much more mild and not at all cystic in just over 3 weeks." "The combination is a winner...It's been 9 weeks so far and I'm very pleased with the outcome." "I have been on the regimen for 4+ months. my stubborn moderate acne is 100% under control, my skin is 95% clear at all skin is softer, and so smooth, literally not a bump on it." "I'm almost at 30 days and continue to see great improvements!!" "THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!" I know first hand the devastation that acne can wreak in people's lives -I had cystic acne from age 14 to 40. I have been clear for over 4 years now and this is how I did it. If I managed it, I am convinced that you can too. These steps transformed my quality of life and I hope they can help other people. There are 4 simple steps: 1. Vegetable juice. 2. Removal of sugar from diet 3. Low B5 supplementation 4. Increased water consumption My view After 26 years, I became convinced that intractable adult acne is the result of a systemic failure in the body. If topical treatments could work for you, they would have worked by now. You wouldn't be reading this page. Accepting that fact is not easy for some people, but it is the crucial step in adopting an effective holistic program. It's what I did when I turned 40 and how I managed to clear my skin. I am not a doctor or a dermatologist or a nutritionist. I am regular guy who created this regime from reading and researching what other people had found out and combining it. I simply asked myself two questions: What has come up again and again as producing the best results? Is it possible to combine it into one program? The hypothesis behind this program is that there is a synergistic effect between all four elements, in that the power of the regime as a whole is greater then the sum of the parts. If you omit any one element then you are undermining the logic behind the treatment and hampering your chances of success. My regime 1. Vegetable juice. THIS IS THE KEY ELEMENT OF THE REGIME! I bought a jucier for £100 (about $160). Every day I make up 1 pint of vegetable juice. I generally drink it on an empty stomach. Among my favourites are sweet potatoes or carrots cucumber beetroot vine tomatoes bell pepper celery butternut squash anything else that juices -although dark green vegetetables are often bitter so use sparingly! But I've come to believe you can pretty much use any vegetables, and in fact, it's much better to vary your juice as widely as possible. Carrots tend to be the first thing people juice, but I advise restraint. They are high in sugar. I would restrict their use to every other day at maximum. Similarly with beets. If you after beta carotene, it is far better to use sweet potatoes or butternut squash. Among the very best vegetables for the skin are kale and spinach. Being leaves, a budget juicer won't juice them, you will need to add the juice and the leaves mixture into a blender. I tend to buy organic because I can afford it, but I don't think it realy makes much difference to the effectiveness of the treatment. It takes 5 minutes to chop and juice the vegetables, 5 minutes to drink, 5 minutes to clean the jucier. For 15 minutes effort you are taking therapeutic levels of nutrients. This is a list of the nutrients in a typical glass of juice I make: Vitamin A Vitamin B1 Vitamin B2 Vitamin B3 Vitamin B5 Vitamin B9 Vitamin B12 Vitamin C Vitamin D Vitamin E Vitamin K Betain Calcium Choline Copper Iron Magnesium Manganese Omega 3 Potassium Protein Phosphorus Selenium Zinc and of course, water Also: 10 essential amino acids Anti-oxidants such as Quercetin, Kaempferol and Lypocene all linked with anti-cancer and anti-heart-disease properties. Anti-inflammatories Imagine this powerhouse of nutrients hitting your system first thing every day, in a liquid form quickly absorbed by the body. Now compare that to the breakfast you currently eat. 2. Removal of sugar from the diet I'm not going to discuss the whole sugar-acne thing. All I will say is that I noticed huge reductions in the oiliness of my skin when I cut out sugar. I stopped all discretionary sugar items: cakes, confectionary, chocolate, soda, sweets, etc. I didn't go so far as to stop eating processed foods with added sugar, since you have to be practical. Almost everything has sugar added to it. It doesn't matter eating a little -it's the huge spikes in blood sugar that come from eating things like donuts and cola that you want to avoid. See the FAQ below for why I juice 'high-sugar' vegetables and how this fits in with removing sugar from the diet. 3. Supplements I don't believe in megadosing. I think it's dangerous. I strongly advise anyone considering megadosing vitamins to think again. See the FAQ below for more on this. I take time release 500mg of B5. Incidentally, way before the recent B5 studies, it was known that B5 had a beneficial effect on acne even at low doses. Adele Davies in her book "Let's Get Well" (I think published back in the 60s) noted cases that cleared up by taking just this amount -500mg. B5 hasn't caused me any problems. However, the possible side effects of B5 (mentioned with much larger doses than 500mg I recommend) are related to the fact that it can in theory crowd out other B vitamins. So it is possible in the longer term to suffer deficiency symptoms of other B vitamins. It is therefore very important that you eat a good diet, one rich in B vitamins, and to monitor yourself for any conditions like itching scalp or dry lips. For this reason I now sprinkle powdered wheatgerm into my food once a day. The bottom line is that we all have different metabolisms and what may be okay for me, may be too much for you. I only mention this for the sake of completeness -it's always wise to have as much information about the subject as possible. 4. Water consumption I increased water consumption by 1-2 pints a day. Hydration of the skin is always beneficial. Note, however, that I am not advocating forcing down pints of water for the sake of it. I noticed that I would often wake up in the night, thirsty, so I started drinking a pint of water before going to bed. That's all. This meant my body was always adequately supplied with fluids. The results I experienced There is no such thing as an overnight cure. We've all read posts along the lines of "WOW! I started taking xxxx on Monday and three days later my acne has ALL GONE!!" These posts are often well-intentioned but they suffer from obvious problems: 1. You need to be able to sustain a 'cure' for months and years, to have confidence that it really works. 2. No problem in the human body heals overnight. Think about it. When did you last go to the doctor with some ailment and he said to you, "Just take one of these pills tonight, and tomorrow you'll be cured." Even antibiotics, among the most powerful and targetted drugs available, take about a week to ten days to work. And that's on temporary infections. Any problem you've had for years is going to disappear gradually, not overnight. If you've reached your 30s or 40s with acne, then it's clear that no short term approach will work for you. If there was a short term treatment, you would have found it by now. Only the long term treatments remain. I know that's an unpalatable truth for many people reading this, but it is the truth nonetheless. It is essential, therefore, that you recalibrate your expectations from seeing results in days, to seeing results in weeks, or months. So many acne treatments promise 'visible results in just five days' but this is not a realistic scenario for adult acne. Accepting that requires a fundamental shift in your mindset. With that in mind, here is the timeline I experienced: 1. Five Days Energy levels much higher. Elevated mood levels. No visible skin benefit. 2. Two Weeks Skin felt unusually soft, smooth and younger-looking. Noticeable oil reduction. No improvement to acne. 3. Six weeks Oil overproduction no longer a problem. Number of existing lesions diminished. New acne still appearing but heals faster. Unsolicited comments from people about how well I was looking. 4. Three months Acne had completely disappeared, and has never returned. Note that this is my experience. Some people have reported faster results than this, others slower. FAQ (periodically updated as new questions arise) I strongly advise you to read this FAQ. It covers a lot more ground than the basics above. GENERAL QUESTIONS I've been through all these so-called 'cures'. Why is this one any different? I'm not saying I can cure your acne. What I can say is that it worked for me and I had cystic acne for 26 years. If it can help me it is almost certainly able to help others. You may be one of them. Who are you and how did you develop this program? At the age of 40 I decided that I was going to try my best to kill my acne once and for all, and rather than hopping about from one quack remedy to another as I had done for the past two decades, I would develop a logical treatment based upon the best available clinical and anecdotal evidence. I concluded that if I could combine the elements most likely to help into one program then I would stand the best chance of a 'cure'. From searching the internet and reading widely a consensus of opinion emerged: sugar-elimination, vegetable juice, B5 supplementation. I'm not a healthcare professional. Nothing in this post constitutes medical advice. I am simply putting my own experience into the public domain. How you use this information is entirely up to you. So how does it work? I'm not a scientist. But my hypothesis is that the elements of treatment work together to create a more powerful effect than the sum of their parts. But it's basically healthy eating, right? No. Just eating 'healthily' won't work because there are not enough nutrients in whole food (and they are absorbed too slowly) to fix the problem. Juice is like a mainline of nutrients over and above regular meals. Juicing is not a substitute for poor meals. You still need to consider the amount of fibre, omega 3, calcium, etc that you are getting from whole food. Also, when people talk about eating 'healthily' in connection with acne, they nearly always focus on food elimination, and not food inclusion. Cutting out suspected trigger foods is not healthy eating. The key is the nutrients you supply to the body, not what you remove. In what ways does your regime differ from all the other threads here about diet? It doesn't. My regime concurs with the basic principles of most dietary-based approaches. That's because I took the elements that crop up again and again and put them into one regime. There is an increasing body of evidence to support these principles, rather than them just being someone's opinion. For a recent article, go here: http://www.huffingto...a_b_822163.html However, where I diverge from other views on diet is that I don't think it's possible to cure acne by removal of foods from the diet. Although there is the occasional person on these forums who achieved clear skin through stopping eating bread, for example, I think these cases are very rare. For most of us, the key is what you DO eat, not what you DON'T. Vegetable juice will have more effect in your skin than stopping bread, chocolate, dairy, processed foods, meat combined. Will it work on teenage acne? In principle, I don't see why not. But common sense would suggest that there is something fundamentally different going on between the 90% of teenagers who get acne and the 5% of 35 year olds. Furthermore, all the doses (and that includes the juice) are meant for adults. Not matter how grown-up you may feel, teenage physiology is not the same as that of a thirty or forty-year old. You are still growing. Your internal organs are not the same size. Your hormonal situation is different. You don't have the same tolerances. Most prescription drugs usually stipulate a reduced dosage for children under 16 or under 12, or sometimes it's not allowed at all. So, I'm not recommending it for people under 18. It's listed under 'Adult Acne' for a reason. Please do not disregard this advice. If you choose to, then whatever you do, make sure that you cut the doses by at least 50%. And that includes the juice. JUICING The more juice I drink, the better, right? No! Doing anything to excess is not a good idea. Don't exceed my recommended dose. Can I drink commercial vegetable juice like V8 instead of making my own? No. Commercial juices have been centrifuged and pasteurised to destroy bacteria. This also destroys many of the nutrients. They have also been bottled many weeks, if not months, in advance. This also degrades the nutrient content. Furthermore, juices like V8 usually have high levels of added salt which is bad for you. Freshly-juiced vegetables from commercial juice bars are fine, but relatively expensive. Can you recommend any juice recipes? I'm not bothered what the juice tastes like; I just want the nutritional benefit. But if you want the juice to taste delicious, there are plenty of juicing websites with recipe blends. Your juice seems very high in sugar. How does fit in with removing sugar from your diet? The average American eats just one vegetable per day (and the average Brit, let's be fair). But they also eat candy bars, soda, and all manner of other very-high sugar foods. By removing these and juicing more vegetables you are still taking far less sugar and getting the intense nutritional benefits of vegetables. The only high-sugar items on my list are carrots and beets. Most vegetables are not high in sugar. Can you recommend a juicer? I use the L'equip 110.5, which has been highly recommended by many juicing websites. It's well built, easy to use and clean, has a decent warranty, and is reasonably priced. It does the job. I would not advise buying a juicer from a department store on the recommendation of a sales person. They'll sell you any old tat, often models that are difficult to clean or not even specialised juicers, but food processors which don't do a great job. The main things to consider are: 1. How easy it is to clean? If it's difficult to clean you wont want to use it. You should be able to do the whole thing in 5 minutes. This is the main thing to check out. 2. How noisy is it? If you've got close neighbours you're not going to be able use it at the crack of dawn. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a workmanlike juicer that will last a number of years. I recommend spending about £160 (US $100) on your first model. If that sounds like a lot to you, think of it this way. If it lasts 3 years, that's just $1 a week for probably the single greatest thing you can do for your skin (and your health). Now think of other things that you normally spend $1 a week on. Which is more important? If you are on a budget, then it is possible to juice using a normal food blender and then straining the mixture afterwards to separate out the juice from the fibre. How should I clean the vegetables? I use a vegetable brush. It is important to clean them well. Should I buy organic? I'm in two minds. Part of me suspects that the 'organic' foods you buy from supermarkets are little different to the regular kind. However, I think it's a big benefit if you can source your organic veggies locally from a farm, which I now do. But I hate the taste of vegetable juice. Carrots and beetroot are sweet, not bitter. I think my blend of vegetable juice is delicious. The 'difficult' vegetables are the dark green leafy ones, which certainly you want to use sparingly. Just experiment until you find a blend you like. I can't be bothered with juicing -it sounds like a lot of work. As I said, it takes just 15 minutes. I would also hazard that you probably already spend at least 15 minutes a day on the topical treatments for your skin. This will being bring better results. Should I drink it on an empty stomach? Yes. Should I drink it in one dose or a half dose twice a day? Logic would indicate that splitting it into two separate doses would more effective. But then you've got to clean the juicer twice. Your call! Should I water the juice down? No. Most of it is water! I'm worried about not being to tolerate vegetable juice. Might it cause an upset stomach? The main vegetables I recommend should cause you no problems. But be careful with others. Dark green veggies should be introduced carefully. Others, such as onions, which are irritants, and leeks, can make a glass of juice completely undrinkable even by adding just a small amount. You will discover these things as you go along. It is possible to make yourself feel quite sick by drinking too much of the wrong vegetable (i have done this a couple of times!) so go carefully with those experiments. Should I add anything to the juice? Some vitamins are better-absorbed alongside fats. For that reason you may wish to add a spoonful of olive oil. Recently I have taken to adding flax seed, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds for the fats. But it is rather unpalatable. Olive oil is probably a better idea. You may also wish to add other things like protein powder, etc. Sometimes I add pea-protein. Some leafy vegetables won't juice. What should I do? Make your juice, transfer it to a blender, add the difficult vegetable and give it a whizz. You'll have a vegetable smoothie. Can I make fruit smoothies instead of juicing? Smoothies use the whole of the fruit, blended into a drink. So it's just as physically difficult to drink a smoothie made with ten apples as it is to eat ten apples! The point of juicing is to ingest more vegetable nutrients than possible through eating. To do that you need to remove the fibre. People are often drawn to fruit smoothies because they find the taste more palatable than vegetable juice, but aside from the aforementioned reason, there is no evidence to support fruit juice benefiting acne. That's not to say that fruit isn't healthy to eat; it's just not part of this program. DIET What about pizza/alcohol/gluten/pasta/bread etc? All the salient points are listed in the regime above. Whether you want to drink beer or eat pizza is up to you. Generally I think living a monastic existence when it comes to food and drink is neither desirable nor practical. So you're not some health nut, then? You only have to look around you to see couch potatoes with clear skin and athletes with acne. Living a healthy lifestyle is certainly desirable, and one we should all strive for, but I don't actually think it's of specific value when trying to clear your skin. So don't think you have to get up at 5am and go jogging to help your acne. And this isn't a low GI diet? No. I have never consciously tried to adopt a low GI diet since it seems too restrictive and difficult to follow to me. That's not to say that I don't endorse the principles of it. You may wish to tweak my approach if you wish to follow a low GI approach. You've mentioned sweet potatoes a lot in your posts. What exactly are the benefits? They are amongst the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. They always appear near the top of the lists of skin-care vegetables. They are higher in beta-carotene than carrots. They are rich in anti-cancer chemicals. They have proven immune system boosting properties. They are highly anti-inflammatory. And they taste delicious. Do you drink coffee? I don't drink coffee. It's not a conscious decision; I just can't stand the taste without sugar. Starbucks will just have to eke out a profit without me. What about tea? I'm British! The county would collapse without tea! I'm the same. Although recently I have switched almost exclusively to green tea. And what about milk? There's some evidence that milk may be a trigger. I don't drink milk. Again, this isn't a conscious decision, it's just that since stopping sugar, I don't drink coffee. Also, I don't really like breakfast cereal. So I just never drink it. But it was never consciously part of my regime. Perhaps it should be. But diet doesn't cause acne! My friend eats all the junk food he/she wants and he/she has perfect skin. Some people (me included) can eat all the junk food they want and they never put on any weight. I'm the same waist size at 44 that I was at 21. Does that mean junk food can't make people fat? What foods do you emphasis in your diet? Green leafy vegetables. Berries -blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries. I probably spend £5 (US $8) on berries daily. Salmon. Turkey And what about 'bad' food that you shouldn't eat? I love curry. If I could I would eat curry every day. As it is, I have it two or three times a month. I also love pizza. But in my opinion, it's probably the most unhealthy food on the planet. So I never order a commercial one. Occasionally I buy one in a supermarket. SUGAR REDUCTION Mmm, sugary things! There's no way I could get through the day without M&Ms, a can of Coke, and my aunt Alice's delicious lemon cake. It's going to be impossible to quit those. You only think it's impossible because you are attaching a positive utility to eating them. If you reprogram your mind to associate sugary food and drinks with negative utility (oily, spotty skin, excess fat, diabeties) then you will naturally want to avoid them. It takes time to reprogram your mind but it can be done. I did the same with cigarettes. Once I changed how I thought about them I never wanted to go near them again. And 14 years later, I haven't. We each have our own 'weakness'. But the human brain is extremely powerful if you know how to leverage it correctly. Can you elaborate on that? Most of the time our brains work in our favour. If you put your hand into a flame, your brain sends a message to instantly retract your hand to avoid serious damage to the organism. If you walk into a smoke filled room, your lungs crave fresh air and you try to get out of there as soon as possible. You don't have to think about these things -it's instinctive. The body will always try to get us out of pain and into pleasure as quickly as possible. It is a survival mechanism. Unfortunately, with cravings also, you are in pain, and your mind will try to get you out of pain (the craving) and into pleasure (the craving has gone) also. It is instinctive too, and works on a very powerful subconscious level. That is the simple reason why WILLPOWER ALONE WILL ALWAYS FAIL. It's why people who try to stop smoking fail again and again because the pain (nicotine withdrawal) is too strong for willpower alone to overcome. The way to change behaviour is to reverse the pain/pleasure process and get it to work in your favour. If you mentally associate sugar with pain (blackheads, lesions, cysts, oily skin), then your mind will start to work in your favour by trying to get you away from the pain of horrible skin and into the pleasure of not eating sugar and having clear skin. It is then easy to stop. Really. Willpower is not required, since it doesn't take any willpower to get away from something bad. It happens automatically. Now. To get to this stage is simple, but not easy. You have to reinforce your new way of thinking about sugar until it becomes subconscious and automatic. This means repeating the bad effects of sugar to yourself several times a day. Sounds silly? It works. I advise writing out all the bad things about sugar consumption and keeping it with you and reading through it several times a day. Don't just write down 'spots' -write down the emotions connected to them. Embarrassment, isolation, self-loathing. Really FEEL the pain of those negative emotions. This is the most powerful way to start mental reprogramming since you are experiencing the pain on an emotional level. Tempted to eat sugar? Then run through the list again. You wont want sugar after reading it. It's a chore at first but it yields massive benefits if you manage to see it through. After a while, your mind automatically associates sugar with pain and eventually it never crosses your mind to eat it again. This saves you the futility of fighting cravings all your life. These are well-known principles of changing addictive behaviour and they really work. I have applied them to several areas of my life and they have yielded incredible results -results that I could never have got through willpower alone- and I advise everyone struggling to change their behaviour to try them. Sounds like too much effort? I understand. But you're trying to change your life here. It's not an easy thing to do. Massive effort = massive results. SUPPLEMENTS That low level of B5 supplementation can't possibly work -you have to take at least 5g/10g etc. It does work. There is a wealth of anecdotal evidence to support the benefits of low supplementation. I'm concerned about the possible side effects of B5 It's sensible to be concerned. See the section on B5 above. I can't find B5, can I take Pantothenic Acid instead? They are the same thing. I already take other supplements. Can I continue to take them whilst using your regime? In recent years I've come to believe that supplements are generally not beneficial and may well be harmful. I would advise anyone to take only the barest minimum level of supplements necessary. You may be able to take even less than the B5 and Carnitine doses I describe. Can't I just take lots of vitamin pills to save me the hassle of juicing? I have to say that it concerns me greatly to read (albeit well-intentioned) posts from young people treating their acne by megadosing vitamins. If you research the clinically documented cases of vitamin toxicity caused by megadosing you will be shocked. Don't be fooled by the fact that vitamin pills are legal products, available without prescription. Cigarettes and alcohol are legal products. Does that mean they're safe? Cigarettes aren't safe at all, and with alcohol it's left up to the user to moderate his or her consumption. Society does not employ legality of a product to ensure safety; it's left up to the user to do that. The problem is that desperate people do not moderate their usage; they take very high doses. The manufacturers know this -that is why these pills are packaged in high doses. It is a response to demand, not a statement of safe dosage. Furthermore, don't be fooled by the fact that because these substances occur in nature they are therefore 'natural' and must therefore be good for you. Many things in the world are 'natural' -it doesn't make them desirable. There are all sorts of poisonous plants, insects, fish, etc on the planet. No-one would eat Deadly Nightshade. Or the seeds of the Laburnum tree. So forget the myth of 'natural' = good. And remember that these pills are drugs. They are mass-produced in factories using artificial processes to synthesize chemicals into pill form, often at concentrations hundreds of times stronger than the richest food source. Just because it doesn't require a man in a white coat to prescribe them does not mean that they don't share the essential qualities of a drug. If you're not convinced of this, remember that the origin of drugs is in the natural world. No-one would deny that opium is drug, and yet it comes from poppies. Heroine is derived from opium. Cocaine is derived from the coca plant. And I'm not just referring to illegal drugs. Many prescription-only drugs are part-synthesized from the natural world. I know the harmful effects of megadosing first hand, having given myself vitamin D toxicity in my 30s. This was taking 'just' 5000 IU a day. Over a period five months it built up in my system and made me very sick. (Note: there is a difference between the way Vitamin D is synthesized through UV exposure and that gained through dietary sources, this is why UV synthesized Vitamin D will not lead to problems). My doctor had no idea what was wrong with me. I was in hospital for five days. Did it cause any long term damage? Who knows. I don't want anyone else to put themselves through that. People have said to me, "Look, here's a website showing Vitamin X is absolutely non-toxic" or "Dr Z states categorically that Vitamin X has never caused any adverse symptoms." Well, fine. But for each one of those, I can show you someone else with a contrary opinion, with different research. The very fact that it's a matter of debate proves that the health risks are unknown. And megadosing is relatively new. It's not until a generation has passed, that we will know the full story. And let me tell you that being able to point to a specific website saying that Vitamin D is perfectly safe is of no benefit if it's you that's sick. I would strongly advise anyone considering taking megadose vitamins to do some research and think again. Juicing the amounts I recommend doesn't begin to approach megadose level. Wow. You sound quite opinionated on that. I have no particular axe to grind with the vitamin industry. Vitamins are helpful for many people. I'm simply keen to dissuade others from making the mistakes I made. TOPICALS Do you think a good skincare regime is still important? Yes. Unfortunately most people make this the focus of their treatment, when it really should be a secondary treatment. So what topicals do you you use, then? If you ask a hundred people to recommend a skincare product to you, you will get a list of a hundred products! It is futile to ask for recommendations because everyone differs in product tolerance, pH skin values, and oiliness. For that reason, what you should be looking for is the overall reputation of the manufacturer, not any individual product. Companies that make effective acne skin care products tend to also make a range of acclaimed skin-care products for all skin types. This is no coincidence. I use a cleanser of clinical grade and a non-oil based rehydrating gel. They are relatively expensive but they are superior to anything you can buy on the high street. That's not to say that these particular products will work for you; but rather that the manufactuer's product range will almost certainly contain a product that will. I'm not going to mention the brand here because this thread is about holistic treatment, not topicals, and I don't want to be misinterpreted as promoting anyone's products. But if you'd like to message me, I will gladly tell you which ones I use. What about Benzoyl Peroxide? I stopped using BP prior to starting this treatment. If my program works for you, then you won't need BP either. MANAGING THE TREATMENT I've started your treatment and I'm still getting zits. What's going wrong? Nothing is going wrong. Review the timeline that I mention above. Remember, you are attempting to heal a systemic problem in the body. It takes time. Don't get obsessed over the day-to-day fluctuations in your skin. Much as people like to look for cause-and-effect situations in acne ("I ate a fresh cream cake on Monday, and on Wednesday I've got a big cyst on my chin") I believe that this is merely pattern-fitting out of random data. The only meaningful measure is the bigger picture over the longer timescale. What's the key to success with your program? Setting up a routine and seeing it through. I'm going away for a while. How can I follow this regime whilst on vacation? If you're going away, then enjoy the break! Don't spend time worrying about your face. Short breaks from the regime won't make any lasting difference. But that doesn't mean it's acceptable to gorge on chocolate. Stick with the main points as best you can. If you want to continue to take vegetable juice whilst away, then I suggest tracking down a local juice bar, if possible. Here in London, there are several specialist juice outlets dotted around, and the better cafes will also do you a nice fresh blend. I daresay it's the same in all major cities. Failing that, emphasise vegetables, where possible, in your diet. Personally, I would rather take no vegetable juice at all than drink V8. As I've said above, I think V8 is of very limited, if any, benefit. I'm some weeks into your program and I haven't seen any benefit, I feel like quitting. I know how tempting it is to quit after a couple of weeks and move on to another treatment. It is inherently challenging to continue with programs that appear to be producing poor results. But often the one thing we haven't tried with skin programs is time. I guarantee that there are people who will have read my regime, tried it for a few days, seen a couple of new lesions pop up, then quit, concluding it doesn't work, off to another thread to try that for a few days, and so on. How do I know that? Because I used to be that person! If you can manage it, try to formally assess the condition of your skin just once a week, say every Sunday night, for twelve weeks. Use objective measures such as how many active lesions, how many are healing, how oily your skin is, etc. Perhaps put this down on a spreadsheet. This will help you see the broader trend over time and keep you on track to the 12 week goal. Only at that point, can you make an informed decision about whether to continue. I've reached the three month period, I've followed your regime to the letter, and I can't see any benefit whatsoever -now what? (so far, this question has been asked just twice) Please don't despair. My regime may require tweaking or reworking to find what works for you. That may be just around the corner. What is important is not to respond emotionally and throw in the towel but to take a step back and consider logically and carefully what additional elements you might add, and to give those time to work. Juicing provides a firm foundation on which to base further treatment plans. Remember Thomas Edison, who took 5000 experiments to perfect the light bulb. Or James Dyson, who needed 1000 prototypes to invent his bagless vacuum cleaner. You need to adopt a similar, calm, scientific approach. I know that's easy to say, but it's ultimately the key to clearing your skin. A couple of areas you may wish to investigate are L Cysteine and probiotics. I've been reading around about Cysteine and some users have reported success with that combined with B5 instead of carnitine. The area of probiotics also looks interesting. My advice is to get a list of your top-4 programs to try, and start at the top and work downwards giving each one program three months. Over the course of a year you will have investigated all of high-probability holistic remedies. A structured and targeted approach has a much greater chance of success. And keep up the juice. PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS I'm age XX and I feel really depressed and angry that I'm still suffering with this awful skin all these years later, especially when I think about the effect it's had on my life. Why me? Everyone reading this knows how you feel. Someone once said to me, "You're so ugly I can hardly bear to look at you". There is no denying that moments like that shape you. You wouldn't be human if they didn't. I can't change anyone's past. But I can hopefully point you in the direction of a better future. What about stress/masturbation/depression/psychological factors? Don't get sidetracked from the fact that acne is a physical ailment like a broken leg. Stress doesn't help anyone but it's not causing your acne and thinking about it won't help any. MISCELLANEOUS So what do you look like these days? Apparently I'm the spitting image of Keifer Sutherland. With a few scars. Although he hasn't aged as well. Hey, your regime has worked for me. Thanks! You're welcome! Please put up a post or email me. Reading about other people's success is very inspiring for others new to the program and you can help other people just by letting them know that it helped you. I can then quote your post in the FAQ. I can't get back the years I suffered with acne but I can give those years to other people. That's why I put this up. So you're not promoting any product or service or website through this post? No. Unless I figure out a way to corner the world's production of sweet potatoes and cucumber! Is it advisable to read all of the subsequent posts below this one? No. I've summarised everything important that's come up from other people in this FAQ (and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future). However, you may find it encouraging/motivating to read posts from other people who have started to juice. Can I tweak your regime with my own ideas? Of course. My treatment plan may require tweaking for you to get results. Some people have found that combining my regime with probiotics or cysteine, was the way forward for them. It's not set in stone. The idea is that this thread evolves for people to develop their own individual treatment plans, and share their knowledge with others. It's about empowerment, and not being a passive sufferer in the dermatologist's waiting room! Any final message to anyone considering your program? Beating acne is not straightforward. If it was, sites like this wouldn't exist. Succeeding means making it your mission in life, for a short while, to clear your skin. Make no mistake, you will need to summon more resilience and perseverance than the average person. But it can be done. And the benefits of succeeding are so significant that it's worth putting everything you can into it. For that reason it is important to prepare psychologically. Don't choose to start the regime just before Christmas, for example, when you will be surrounded with sugary foods. Make sure you are able to get to the supermarket sufficiently often to buy enough vegetables. Think about what time of day you will be juicing. Maybe buy a new knife or chopping board specifically for the task. Consider keeping the regime a secret from family and friends, to see whether you get any unsolicited comments on your skin further down the line. Preparing well like this will give you the biggest chance of success. Woody Allen once said "90% of success in life is just showing up". Be that person who shows up! Can I contact you with questions? Sure. But be a good sport and check it hasn't been answered already. Good luck! Winged Serpent
  16. Hello everybody ! I'll try to keep it short Me 22 year old male, 5"6, 103 lbs / 47kg Acne story (lol) About 6 years ago I took accutane (forgot the dosage), because I had persistent acne that wouldn't go away after antibiotics and topicals. It had been pretty clear for a while, with some red bumps and few cysts in more recent years. I made the mistakes to pick my face a bit in the past, I got scars on my cheeks and forehead. Don't do this mistake !!! Recently I had been living on campus abroad, my acne go worse in the recent months, I got more and more obsessed and self conscious with it. Possibly it's from my diet which I improved recently with no results. Possibly it's just me obsessing with it while I didn't care before. I've been very self conscious over this, I even put foundation on nowadays (yes as a man, you believe this ?). The derm got me on doxycycline which helped (my skin has less bumps but still red marks) but doesn't solve the issue. I tried all kinds of topical, and stuff term gave me like eclaran and locacid which I think barely did anything except burn my skin. Then I finally got accutane, the top quality stuff . I actually started the 1st February with just 10mg to test the waters, I bumped to 20mg. I'll post the progress I saw even if it's not "live" for other people to understand. I think a low dosage is enough because my acne isn't too severe and I read a lot about low dose accutane. 20mg is almost 0.5mg per kg as I'm very light, so not that low by the way. Regimen Multivitamin in the morning 3x15mg Zinc with a meal 20mg accutane with fatty meal I wash twice a day using topical as long as my skin isn't too dry. If it is, I'll use water and cream to hydrate I try to keep it down on very junk food and very sugary food, but I'm not crazy about it Zinc is because I almost never eat meat or zinc heavy food since living on campus and I think it may be a cause for the acne. I have a few side effects of Zinc deficiency, like very low appetite (look at my weight). It has decent reviews. Also to is said to help with scars and red marks which have been spreading since the last months in my case. About same reason for multivitamin, it also has Vitamin A in it but I wad told it was ok since my accutane dosage is lowish. That's all folks ! I'll post a picture soon PICTURE IN BELOW POST Short resume for people new to the thread : Changes I saw in Month 1 (10 then 20mg a day) : Most of the active acne is gone, I didn't have much. Except some exceptions, most of the bumps, whiteheads and tiny pics I had on my face are gone, my skin feels so much more even and smooth. The red marks and scars are still there, not sure if improved. Changes I saw in Month 2 : First half : more improvement, then breakouts. Blackheads are gone Changes I saw in Month 3 : More and more breakouts everywhere ! Looking worse than at day 1 for sure. Closed comedomes are going away but this causes pimples Changes I saw in Month 4 : Finally getting better ! Little to no actives but a ton of red marks and also new scars. Zero closed comedomes and zero blackheads. Currently in month 5 (40mg)
  17. can i take 50g of zinc and be fine?
  18. I had had butt acne for almost half my life. It started when i was 10 and now i am 19. During the first years it didnt bother me at all, but as I grew up it made me feel very embarassed and keeping me away from everything that included my butt being seen by anyone (from sex to even going to the beach). But over the last year I got really frustrated about it and decided to take some action. First I started using some products my pharmacist suggested for body acne (Castallia, they were French and pricey). It worked for about a week (I mean calmed acne down a little) but after that it went back to the start. Then I tried baby powder. I read someone on the internet that baby powder does the trick if applied to the problem area after shower. Again it calmed it down but not for long (plus my clothes were getting white from all the talc). I noticed that when I would eat white bread my pimples would flare up so I cut it down, which was really hard, but with minimum results again. I started experimenting with more foods and I saw that a big list of them made it worse: chocolate, bread of any kind (even black), rice, potatoes, pasta, even fresh juices(!!!), eggs, cheese and more. But avoiding all that was too hard and at the end gave me little results amd big cravings for food along with headaches. I followed this diet for 3 months but eventually I gave in since I didnt gain anything after all (except maybe a pretty good weight loss). I had been experimenting for about 5 months when it crossed my mind that maybe i was constipated and this was the reason that i had it. So, stupid me started using laxatives which didn't help either and actually made me have constipation which I didnt have before. And because laxatives cause dependency i had to stop them and find another way to help it. I switched to Salt Water Flushes which were DISGUSTING but cleared me better than anything at the time. In 2 days with SWF and minimum eating my butt was almost clear. But that couldnt be the solution either cause it was temorary. I started taking psyllium husks after that, which I must say is one of the healthiest things I did during the past year. It kept acne down (my guess is that it removed toxins) and I was feeling healthier. But acne didnt go away of course. I increased my water intake from 2 lt a day ( I 've always been drinking water) to almost 8 lt a day. That made me pee A LOT but with no big results except that i was freezing in the middle of the summer. I did this for 3 weeks and then I got bored of putting so much effort and not getting what i wanted. Vitamin C was my next experiment. Started from 1000 mg a day and it really helped my calm down and stop stressing (acne made me very anxious and it got worse since i started my journey for the cure) and for a week it helped acne too. Some days when i was feeling really stressed i would take up to 4 pills (4000 mg) and in my mind it helped me calm down more which could also be a placebo effect. Sooner or later I had to abandon it too cause it was pricey and not as effective as I'd like. I went back to avoiding certain foods but it helped very little again. I read something about Head & Shoulders here and thought I'd give it a try. Amazing results within the first 3 days but then my skin got too dry and developed a horrible rash that didnt calm down for a week and still appears when my skin gets too dry. Then I used a garnier product with Zinc and Salicylic Acid. Just like H&S it worked really well but made my skin too dry and the rash came back stronger. After being frustrated by not getting any results, I stopped trying things for about a month until I became worried about it again and begun a new diet based remedy. I was pretty convinced that i had Candida overgrowth and leaky gut which i thought made toxins flow around my blood stream and caused butt acne. I followed the Candida Diet for 3 weeks, which is really hard to do since you have to avoid all carbs. Slight results regarding my acne but I had so much energy even though i was eating way to little calories (not on purpose, its just that you can't eat protein all day long to get your calories). After the first week i was gradually getting badly constipated which didnt go away as I was getting deaper into the diet. So I switched to a different type of detox. I did the SWF again for 10 days in a row, I felt lighter, healthier but I was retaining water and I am not really sure If it was safe for my body Acne was getting better and with the use of H&S it was practically vanished for 5 days before the same old rash problems came back again. I stopped the SWF and the H&S and went with a completely new aproach. Instead of making my skin drier I moisturized it. But not with any random moisturizer. I used OLIVE OIL. (I dont know if any olive oil will do the same work, the one i used is from my parents olives and has no chemicals or anything harmfull, so it was Extra Virgin Olive Oil). What I saw after 3 days was unbelievable! NO NEW PIMPLES, THE ACTIVE ONES FADING! I really thought it wouldnt last long like every other remedy I tried but it has been 3 weeks and my butt is flawless! No pimples, no dryness, the H&S rash going away. After 10 years my butt is perfect again! and it doesn't any acne anymore as long as i keep moisturizing. Let me tell you exactly what i do: MY REMEDY 1) For the first week i applied a lot of olive olive on my butt area and let it sit there for half an hour before showering. Pimples seem to flare up while you have the olive oil on but its temporary and they calm down after showering. While in the shower I use a bath sponge to rub my skin there until the area is red. I dont use any other soaps or cosmetics on it, just plain water to wash off the olive oil. 2) After the first week I changed my remedy a little and I think this is more convinient since i dont have to wait for 30 minutes butt naked every day with olive oil on. Now i put olive oil in a cup and take it with me when going to shower. I apply olive oil on wet skin and let it there for 5 minutes while i wash my hair. Then I apply a little H&S on my sponge and rub my butt until it is red (2 mins are more than enough). I step out of the shower dry myself really well AND apply a thin layer of Olive Oil on the problem area. I wear my clothes which are NEVER the same clothes I will go out with (you dont want to smell like a salad when with friends, do you?), and leave those clothes for at least 10 minutes on so the olive oil will be absorbed by both my skin and the fabric. Then I go on with my day. I apply olive oil 3 times a day in total. 1 after shower and 2 when I have 30 seconds to waste on it. SERIOUSLY NO MORE PIMPLES. And it isnt that hard to follow if you compare it to diets and constant worrying about what to do. I find it really simple and it's really the only thing that completely vanished it for good. It really worked for me, it is not at all expensive like any cream that might be suggested for acne, and the results are permanent as long as you stay on the remedy. I wanted to post what I thought was helping my acne each time I tried something new, but I was waiting until I had perfect results so my advice would be usefull to others too. This though happened only with EVOO since the results are here to stay and i am proud of sharing what I have found with anyone that might need help. P.S.: I apologize for my bad English, it is not my first language.
  19. Dear acne sufferers, If you haven't already tried taking a zinc supplement for your acne, then you must start now! Here's why: * There is a summary at the bottom of this post for those who don't want to read the whole thing. I have suffered with acne for years. Not severe acne, fortunately, but with moderate acne that just never seemed to respond to any form of treatment. Trust me, I've tried it all (except for Accutane). It nearly makes me sick to my stomach to think about the exorbitant amount of money I've spent on acne products in the past several years. Cleansers, moisturizers, exfoliants, BHAs, AHAs, BP ... you name it, I've tried it. Oh how I wish I had all that money back! The things I could see and do with it ... Anyway, as many of you know, adult acne can be especially damaging to your self esteem. Here you are, finishing up college perhaps, embarking on a new career, trying to impress clients. You're mature now and you're supposed to look the part. But ... you've got acne and when you hit your 20s it feels like a bit of a failure doesn't it? At least it did for me. Making a good impression professionally is extremely important to me. But with a face covered in bumps, I could never find my confidence. I couldn’t look people in the eye. I would subtly turn my face when talking to people so they couldn’t see my “bad side” as clearly. I would take SICK days from work when I was breaking out particularly badly and couldn’t cover up my skin well enough to leave the house. Then I would sit at home drowning in guilt for taking those sick days. I would cancel plans with my friends. And then sit at home scrolling through all their fun pictures on Facebook. I spent hours and hours analyzing (and torturing) my skin, doing research, trying new products … and subsequently throwing OUT those products when they didn’t work. Because nothing worked. No matter what I did and what products I used, the result was always the same. And it wasn’t good. I won’t go into much more detail about how this acne made me feel. You all know what it’s like and what the condition does to you, your life, your career and your relationships. I have suffered with acne throughout my 20s. I am now 29. This winter and spring, my acne seemed to become more and more persistent and stubborn. For some reason unbeknownst to me, I started developing particularly bad neck acne and acne around my mouth and chin. My neck was covered with whiteheads every day. No matter what I did, they were always there. I eliminated product after product (including hair products) and tried new ones. I even tried eliminating some foods (like dairy) for a while. But no luck. It was maddening. I thought, “I can’t go one more year worrying about this. I’m almost 30!” So finally, FINALLY, I think I have found my miracle cure and I just had to share it with you all. If I can help just one person cure their acne, then I will be thrilled. I had read some articles about the connection between zinc deficiency and acne before, but had never really given it much thought. But for some reason, when I was feeling particularly low and frustrated with my skin, the idea of zinc supplementation popped into my head. I swear it was like some dermatological angel whispered it into my ear. I started really delving into research on zinc and acne, and the more I read, the more convinced I was that I had to try it. I went to the pharmacy and bought a bottle of 50 mg zinc gluconate tablets. I took one on a Tuesday night and by Friday, I had no new pimples. Not one. In fact, all the whiteheads on my neck that responded to NOTHING, suddenly disappeared. Day by day, things just kept getting better. Since I wasn’t getting any new pimples, the only thing left to clear up were marks from old pimples. And gradually those have gotten better. I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am over this discovery. And how mad I am that I didn’t try it sooner. All it took to cure YEARS of stubborn acne was a natural supplement taken once per day. So that’s it, folks! I’ve been completely clear now for over a month. There is not even a hint of a pimple on the horizon. I’m not saying this is going to work for everyone. Every individual body has its own reasons for its disorders. But I do believe that acne is a sign of internal problems. What’s happening inside your body is reflected on the outside. Remember, your skin is your largest organ. And if it’s suffering, then you have to wonder what else is going on. But if you’re like me and you’ve tried everything else, this just might be what your body needs. It’s an easy, natural, inexpensive treatment and it’s worth a try. Give it some time too. My acne cleared in just a few days, but remember, my acne is moderate, not severe. One word of caution: you will see all kinds of posts from people who say they’re taking insane doses of zinc every day to cure their acne. PLEASE don’t do that. Your body can only tolerate a small amount of zinc. Even vitamins and minerals can be harmful if you overdose on them. I only took ONE 50 mg pill every day and it worked for me. Read the labels carefully and DO NOT take more than the daily recommended dose. Also, PLEASE heed the note on zinc supplements that says to take the pill with a meal. This is serious business. Zinc has the potential to make you very nauseous if you take it on an empty stomach. So take it with a heavy meal – like your dinner – each day. I have found that all forms of zinc have worked for my skin. But I will note that zinc picolinate seemed to be the easiest on my stomach. Okay, now off to the pharmacy you go! And let me know your results! I so hope this works for you as well as it has for me. Best of luck! * SUMMARY: Taking a daily 50 mg zinc supplement cured my persistent, stubborn, moderate adult acne in three days. I have not had a new pimple in over a month. I have found that all forms of zinc work just as well; however, zinc picolinate seems to be the easiest on the stomach. Please note that zinc MUST be taken with a meal, otherwise it will cause nausea. Also, please note that you should NOT take more than the recommended daily dose as this can be extremely dangerous. 50 mg per day is more than enough. Good luck! It’s easy to take, natural and inexpensive, and it’s worth a try.
  20. I hope I can be of help to all the acne sufferers reading this post right now. I have been an acne sufferer for the past 14 years. I could remember those darn pimples swelling on my face especially when my period comes along. Years have gone by, and I have noticed that my face had gotten worse. From mild to moderate pimples, I started to have moderate to severe acne I believe. I was even scared to look in the mirror just to see those ugly, big red bumps all over my face. After one bump or another disappears, 3 to 8 big, ugly bumps appear. I had big, ugly scars that I wanted to hide from the world. I have gotten tired of hiding from people especially my friends. Fortunately, they have been very understanding of my condition. I have not tried everything, yet I have tried sorts of soaps, exfoliants, creams, washing my face regularly, changing my diet, and hoping on green tea, sweet potatoes, and vitamins. I have tried Benzoyl Peroxide when I was in college. It helped to fade a lot of my acne yet leaving behind ugly scars. Ever since I got tired of using it, I noticed that my acne became worse to the point that I was not leaving home for almost a year because acne almost covered my entire face. I know the feeling of having that low self-esteem that my mother had even saw me crying to death because of this dreaded disease. After that year, I started to work in one of the most progressive cities in the Philippines when my acne started to clear a little while. My cousin there suggested that I use Golden Horse cream. It made my face became almost clear after an episode of horrible acne when first using the product. However, my face didn't clear up that much. However, acne still returns with a deep vengeance. When I got back to school again to pursue another course, stress swelled up and my acne worsen. I used creams to battle the acne off but to no avail. I just don't understand why my acne won't just stop. I know I just can't control my diet that I was even having a junk food for breakfast. When I realized that I was really having this gruesome difficulty, I started controlling my diet as I have learned from the Internet. I tried to eat sweet potatoes and green tea while avoiding sugars and processed foods (such as colas, junk food, bread, rice, pasta, etc.) for almost 2 months. I even almost overdosed myself with expensive vitamins. I lost weight and my acne was controlled, yet my acne still return over a short period of time after I started to break my diet. The worse thing was in every small pimple growing on my face, expect that it will grow to a horrible, big bump and would disappear in a matter of weeks or more than a month (or even months!) and more big bumps will grow before the old ones disappear. I was very desperate in searching for a solution. I searched websites to help me with this terrible problem that almost ruined my life. Finally, I have stumbled through an article in the Internet claiming that ginger tea works wonders. It made the author cure his severe acne and he was drinking 3 cups per day. Why not give it a try? So I continued to control my diet and started doses of ginger tea of 2 cups per day. Fortunately, I did see wonders. What I have done was this. I started to use lukewarm or even hot water to wash my face twice a day (can be very antibacterial as my sources have suggested) for I was only washing my face with cold water. From what I have learned in the Internet, a mild soap (I have been using guava soap. It had glycerin, olive oil, and guava extract in it. Very mild.) can be very helpful in reducing the inflammation caused by acne. I drank 2 cups of ginger tea per day, commonly for breakfast and before going to bed. As for the acne and small bumps that were still remaining, I have used zinc oxide plus calamine ointment after washing my face. I'm not rich, you know. I have to find means that are not costly. For a month, I noticed that my acne had been disappearing. I noticed almost unnoticeable very small pimples (slightly red) not growing to very big bumps that can be too pronounced on my face. I put some ointment on them everyday and they disappear quickly. The miracle here was my acne doesn't respond to any ointment I put on my face. The bumps took a matter of weeks or even a month before disappearing. And now, if I apply this ointment on my face after every wash on even a big, red bump, it disappears in 2 days or utmost, 5 days. At least I have found some miracle in here! Maybe I can attribute this to ginger tea as researches claim that this tea is anti-inflammatory. I have been taking doses of green tea and eating sweet potatoes for 2 months while having my diet controlled. I have lost only my weight but the acne still continued after breaking my diet. I started ginger tea with my diet controlled and it had worked some wonders. When I started to get back eating processed foods and all those nasty stuff that can contribute to acne but still drinking ginger tea, it really is a miracle that my face is still 96% clear up to now. MY FACE HAD NEVER BEEN THIS CLEAR. Now, I am drinking ginger tea once a day only at breakfast. My only problem now is that there are still acne scars left on my face. Maybe I can find a natural way to remove these in the future. Maybe those who have read this post should try. There's nothing to lose in trying. I hope I can be of help to all those battling with terrible acne.

  22. Part I: Avoiding Harmful Products When Buying Products Don't Buy Cleansers That: 1. Contain harsh surfectants like sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate. 2. Are in bar form. These contain harsh cleansing agents like sodium cocoate, and the ingredients that keep them in bar form can be absorbed into the skin to clog pores. Also, many bar soaps have alkaline pH levels, which actually encourages bacterial growth. 3. Are daily scrubs containing uneven particles like walnut . These can tear at the skin and cause irritation. Look for scrubs with smooth, round, bead-like particles. 4. Contain waxy, pore-clogging thickeners. Products in cream form tend to have these. 5. Contain animal oils*. Animal oils resemble human sebum and can clog pores similarly. 4. Give a "tingly" or "cooling" feeling. That feeling is caused by skin irritants like menthol and camphor. 5. Are medicated. If the medication contains a chemical exfoliant like salicylic acid, the cleanser is almost certain to have too high of a pH (over 4) to allow it to act as an exfoliant. Chances are that the majority of any medictation used in a cleanser will be washed away before having any real effect. If you let a medicated cleanser (either one containing a chemical exfoliant or one containing benzoyl peroxide) sit on the skin in hopes of giving the medications time to penetrate, than chances are you'll also be allowing the cleansing agents time to irritate the skin. * Emu oil for some reason seems to be an exception according to users of this site. Don't Buy Toners or Astringents That: 1. Contain drying alcohols, witch hazel, peppermint, or other skin irritants. 2. Contain animal oils. (See "Don't Buy Cleansers That:") 3. Contain rice or corn ingredients, as these can encourage bacterial growth. Don't Buy Salicylic Acid Products* That: 1. Contain skin irritants like drying alcohols, witch hazel, peppermint, or other skin irritants. 2. Have a pH higher than 4 or else the salicylic acid will not be an effective exfoliant. A good idea of a product's pH can be obtained with pH indicator strips. 3. Contain rice or corn ingredients (See "Don't Buy Toners or Astringents That:") * Most salicylic acid products are not pH correct, contain irritants, or both. Don't Buy Benzoyl Peroxide Products: 1. That contain skin irritants. 2. To use in conjunction with prescription retinoids (with the exception of adapalene which is used in Differin). Benzoyl peroxide renders most retinoids unstable and should be applied only in the morning if a prescription retinoid is being used at night. 3. Contain animal oils. (See Don't Buy Cleansers That:") Don't Buy Tea Tree Oil Products That: 1. Contain skin irritants. 2. Have less than a 5% concentration of tea tree oil, or more than a 15% concentration. Too little tea tree oil is likely to be ineffective, and too much may be irritating. You can, however, buy pure tea tree oil and dilute it, so long as you aim for the right concentration. 3. Contain animal oils. (See Don't Buy Cleansers That:") Don't Buy Moisturizers That: 1. Are in cream form. (See "Don't Buy Cleansers That:") 2. Contain animal oils. (See "Don't Buy Cleansers That:") 3. Contain rice or corn ingredients. (See "Don't Buy Toners or Astringents That:") 4. Contain skin irritants. Don't Buy Sunscreens That: 1. Are in cream form. (See "Don't Buy Cleansers That:") 2. Contain animal oils. (See "Don't Buy Cleansers That:") 3. Contain rice or corn ingredients. (See "Don't Buy Toners or Astringents That:") 4. Do not contain avobenzone, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, mexoryl sx, or tinosorb; the ingredients recognized by the FDA to provide adequate UVA protection. 5. Do not have an SPF of 15 or higher. 6. Contain skin irritants. In General 1. Don't use products that contain skin irritants. Skin irritants prematurely kill skin cells, littering the skin with more dead skin cells than it can naturally slough off, thus creating a greater risk of clogged pores. Skin irritants also interfere with the skin's healing process, which can result in an increase in bacteria. Some common skin irritants are: Alcohols. Ethanol (grain alcohol), denatured alcohol, ethyl alcohol, methanol, benzyl alcohol, isopropyl, and SD alcohol should be avoided. (Exceptions: Ingredients like cetyl alcohol or stearyl alcohol are fatty alcohols. Some alcohols like SD alcohols can be used in small amounts. An ingredient is in a small amount if it appears at the end of an ingredients list). Ammonia Arnica Balm mint Balsam Bentonite (can be used in the occasional clay mask, but avoid frequent use or formulations which contain other "actives") Benzalkonium chloride (if it is one of the main ingredients) Benzyl Alcohol (if it is one of the main ingredients) Bergamot Camphor Cinnamon Citrus juices and oils Clove Clover blossom Coriander Cornstarch Essential Oils Eucalyptus Eugenol Fennel Fennel oil Feverfew Fir needle Fragrance (may be listed as "Parfum") Geranium Ginger Grapefruit Horsetail Jasmine Lavender Lemon Lemongrass Lime Linalool Marjoram Melissa (lemon balm) Menthol, Menthyl Acetate, and Menthyl PCA Mint Oak bark Orange Oregano Papaya Peppermint Phenol Rose Sandalwood oil Sodium C14-16 olefin sulfate Sodium lauryl sulfate TEA-lauryl sulfate Thyme Wintergreen Witch hazel Ylang-ylang 2. Don't base your use of a product on whether or not it says "non-comedogenic," "oil-free," "hypo-allergenic," "dermatologically tested," and similar terms. These are flashy marketing terms that have no regulations, therefore, they can mean anything. As mentioned earlier, products with waxy thickeners and animal oils (not plant oils) are most likely to clog pores. Mineral sunscreen ingredients like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide can clog pores, though synthetic sunscreens like avobenzone can irritate the skin of certain people and also trigger breakouts. Everyone is different and will be sensitive to different ingredients, so there is no real way of knowing what will or will not clog pores, just what may clog pores. One other thing- acne can take two weeks to form, so if you break out right after starting a product, don't assume that product was the culprit. 3. Don't use specialty products (chemical exfoliants, moisturizers, etc...) that are in jar packaging to minimize air exposure. Oxygen can render certain ingredients unstable. Also, with jar packaging, there is a concern for product contamination. Sunlight can also render certain ingredients unstable, so if you buy a product in clear packaging, be sure to store it in a dark space (such as a medicine cabinet or drawer). 4. Don't assume that the stronger a product (i.e. the higher the concentration of an active ingredient), the more effective it will be. Using a product that is too strong for you may cause irritation that can worsen acne. What is a good strength varies by person. 5. Don't assume that naturally-occurring ingredients are better for your skin. As can be seen by the list of common skin irritants above, there are plenty of ingredients both man-made and naturally-occurring that can be irritating to the skin. 6. Don't touch your face if you can avoid it so as to prevent the spread of contaminants. 7. If you have trouble with inflammatory acne, change your bedding often (once a week), and keep anything that touches your face frequently (like a phone or washcloth) clean and disinfected to prevent the spread of contaminants. 8. Don't use makeup testers on your face to prevent the risk of contamination. 9. Don't apply your moisturizer over areas of your face that are not dry. Applying moisturizer where it is not needed can increase the risk of clogged pores by mixing with excess sebum and "gluing" dead skin cells to the skin's surface. 10. Don't tan. Tanning only temporarily masks acne, damaging the skin in the process, which can actually lead to a worsening of acne. Even if tanning did help, it's not worth the risk of skin cancer, premature aging, cataracts, cellulite, and rosacea associated with unprotected sun exposure. 11. Don't steam the skin or rinse with hot water as this can cause irritation and capillaries to surface. It is best to wash with luke-warm water. 12. Don't give up on a new regimen. You need at the very minimum one month and preferrably two to see results. When using prescription retinoids, you need at least three months. 13. Don't over-scrub the skin as this can cause irritations. It is best to use gentle, circular motions. When drying the face, pat the skin dry as opposed to rubbing it dry. 14. Avoid doing anything to aggravate a pimple. It may be beneficial to pop one provided the pimple is ready to pop, but only apply light pressure. Never squeeze, scratch, or pick at it. If light pressure does not release the contents of a pimple, you will likely worsen it should you increase that pressure. 15. Don't use more than one method of exfoliation at once. For example, don't use a scrub followed by a salicylic acid product, or a salicylic acid product followed by an alpha hydroxy acid product. You risk over-irritating the skin. 16. Don't generously apply products (with the exception of sunscreen, which should be generously applied). Usually only a dime-sized amount / thinly applied layer is all that's needed for the entire face. Over-applying products can be harmful to the skin. 17. Be happy! Who knows, your skin might even get clearer as a result. If not, it's better to have acne and be happy than it is to have acne and wallow in gloom. __________________________________________________________________________ Part II: Building a Regimen Here are some products you could use to help build your own customized regimen, which are also listed in the responses below. I recommend building a basic regimen that includes at the minimum these steps: 1) Cleansing with Lukewarm Water 2) Exfoliating 3) Disinfecting (If You Have Inflammatory Acne) 4) Moisturizing Dry Areas Only (Nighttime) 5) Applying Sunscreen to All Exposed Areas of Skin (Daytime) You can also include other steps in your regimen, like the application of toners which don't contain chemical exfoliants (not that toners containing chemical exfoliants shouldn't be used if that's your method of exfoliation) or of retinoids. Also, you don't have to apply all these products at the same time; for example, you can exfoliate as often as twice a day or as little as once every other day. You should, however, cleanse twice daily. Something I want to make very clear is that I am not advertising a cure for acne. The above mentioned steps follow skin care basics and are beneficial to most people. Subsequently, using a regimen following these steps may result in clear skin, but it may make absolutely no change whatsoever. If you use the wrong products or can't tolerate certain steps like exfoliation or certain types of ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, it might even make your skin worse. If you're looking for a starting point to treating acne or have been following a damaging skin care routine and want to stop, I definately recommend giving such a regimen a chance, but I don't want to give anyone false hope that their acne will disappear from following it. You may have a stubborn case of acne that is beyond the help of over-the-counter treatments, in which case I advise you seek a dermatologist's help. I also want to stress that the treatments I recommend below are not the only decently formulated products out there (though the salicylic acid products I listed are the only ones I know of that are both pH correct and gentle). Some cleansers you may want to consider are: Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild Formula Eucerin Baby Aquaphor Gentle Wash Eucerin Redness Relief Cleansing Gel Paula's Choice (any cleanser) Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash Some manual scrubs you may want to consider as exfoliants are: Essential Nutrients Daily Exfoliating Cleanser with Soft Massage Beads Nivea for Men Energizing Face Scrub (women can use this too) Some toners (not containing chemical exfoliants) you may want to consider are: Biotherm Biosensitive Soothing Refreshing Spring Mist Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion* Derma E Pycnogenol Facial Toner, Fragrance Free Nivea Visage Moisturizing Toner Paula's Choice Toners *This contains about a 0.5% concentration of salicylic acid at a pH of around 4, making it minimally effective for exfoliation, though you probably won't notice a significant difference in your skin due Some salicylic acid products you may want to consider as exfoliants are: Bare Vitamins Skin Rever-Upper (if it really has a pH of 3.8, as the company claimed in an e-mail) Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Daily Moisturizer Paula's Choice 1% or 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid products* Serious Skin Care Clarifying Treatment *Paula's Choice makes by far the best salicylic acid products Some benzoyl peroxide products you may want to consider as disinfectants are: Dan's Clear Skin Regimen Gel (2.5%) Jan Marini Skin Research Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5%) Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel (5%) Oxy Balance, Sensitive Skin Acne Treatment, Vanishing Formula (5%) Paula's Choice Blemish Fighting Solutions (2.5% or 5%) Persa-Gel 10, Maximum Strength (10%) Zapzyt 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Some tea tree oil products you may want to consider as disinfectants are: Derma E Tea Tree and Antiseptic Cream* (5%) Desert Essence 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil (diluted; aim for between a 5 and 15% concentration in your mixture) *This product is in jar packaging, so the vitamin E and other antioxidants won't be stable, but the tea tree oil should work. It is also in cream form, which users may want to be wary of. Some over-the-counter retinol* products you may want to consider are: Diacneal with 6.4% Glycolic Acid Green Cream Jan Marini Factor-A Lotion Makeup Artist's Choice Retinol Serum (which comes in clear packaging, so store it in a dark place) *Products containing retinol do not necessarily produce similar results to prescription retinoid products Some moisturizers you may want to consider are: Dove Sensitive Essentials Daytime Lotion (no SPF) Green Canyon Spa Skin Barrier Serum Malibu Hemp Moisturizer Body Lotion for Dry Skin Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Moisture Gel Zia Natural Skincare Herbal Moisture Gel Some sunscreens you may want to consider are: Clinique Super City Block SPF 25 Oil-Free Daily Face Protector Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protector M.A.C. 23. Pityrosporum Folliculitis - FAQ Introduction A lot of people are struggling with that they think are acne primarily on their chest, shoulders and back. It may also develop on the face(primarily the forehead). After trying countless acne medications or simply by trying to wait it out the condition still persists. The fact is that many "body acne" sufferers got some sort of folliculitis and when the lesions develope on the upper body it's often Pityrosporum Folliculitis they got. The same questions pop up under the body acne section, and by creating this thread I'm hoping to answer some of this questions. However, be advised that I'm not a dermatologist or expert on the field. The information I'm providing is mostly from what I've read(countless hours of reading up on the subject online) and from what I have experienced. This thread is a working progress and I hope others also will participate with information they have on the subject. Questions regarding this FAQ or contributions can be done by replying in this thread, but general questions regarding Pityrosporum Folliculitis can be asked in this thread. It has a lot of great information and users own experiences with PF. What is Pityrosporum Folliculitis? The first thing you should do is research the subject on your own. There's a lot of information found on the net and here are some good links: Do i have Body acne or Pityrosporum Folliculitis? This is the first question that people with "Body Acne" ask themselves when they are confronted with the term Pityrosporum Folliculitis. However this is often the hardest one to answer since "Body Acne" and Pityrosporum Folliculitis look a lot alike. Also a lot of people have them both at the same time since both acne and Pityrosporum Folliculitis thrive on oily skin. Some things you should consider to find out if it's acne or Pityrosporum Folliculitis: - Go to a dermatologist(This is the safest thing you can do to find out if it's body acne or Pityrosporum Folliculitis). Be sure to contact the derm before you schedule an appointment to be sure that he can do a biopsy or something like that to find out what your condition is. - Have you tried acne medication without success? If you have it's more likely that you got Pityrosporum Folliculitis - Have you used antibiotics previously. If this made the condition worse or if you got the spots on your body after the use of Antibiotics it's most likely Pityrosporum Folliculitis you got. - Does it sometimes itch. If it does it's probably Pityrosporum Folliculitis - Do you got Acne on your face too? If your face it's pretty much clear, but your body breaks out it's more likely that Pityrosporum Folliculitis is what you got. Pityrosporum Folliculitis can develop on the face to, but it's much less frequent. - Does it get worse in hot, humid or sweaty environments or in periods where you don't shower much. If it does it's more likely Pityrosporum Folliculitis you got. - There is no comodones or cysts associated with PF. It's Papules and Pastules and the material expressed from pustules is white to yellow - Try some sort of medication against Pityrosporum Folliculitis(see treatments below) and see if this improve your condition. A safe bet is to buy a cream containing 2% ketoconazole(Nizoral, Daktarin Gold or something like that), and try it for a couple of weeks to see if it improves the condition. - Check out the pictures of Pityrosporum Folliculitis below to see if it looks like what you got. What does Pityrosporum Folliculitis look like? What kind of treatments are there? Topical Most popular on Ketoconazole Description: Widely used chemical for PF and can be used topically either as a shampoo(leave on for about 5 min in shower before washing of) or as a cream. It's usually available in 1 or 2% concentrations in various products. Research/information:- The in vitro antifungal activity of ketoconazole, zinc pyrithione, and selenium sulfide against Pityrosporum - Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis Products: - Cleanser/wash: Nizoral, Fungoral - Leave on product: Nizoral, Daktarin Gold, Fungoral Zinc Pyrithione Description: Not as effective against Pityrosporum ovale as Ketoconazole, but used with great success by a lot of members on Head & Shoulders has 1% Zinc Pyrithione in it and that is probably why it works so good for a lot of people. Zinc Pyrithione is both antifungal and antibacterial. However, I recommend trying something like ZNP bar since it has 2% Zinc Pyrithione in it and is designed for use on the skin, not specially for the hair. Research/information:- How I got rid of my bacne - Using only Head & Shoulders - i'm clear using head and shoulder shampoo - The in vitro antifungal activity of ketoconazole, zinc pyrithione, and selenium sulfide against Pityrosporum - Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis Products: - Cleanser/wash: Head & Shoulders, ZNP bar Propylene Glycol Description: Used by a lot of members on with great success. Very easy to use since one option is to just spray it on using a spray bottle. It's fast, cheap and easy to apply to f.ex your entire upper body. With a cream it's hard to apply it to f.ex your entire upper body and it's therefore likely that the PF might spread. Propylene Glycol is often used in a concentration with water(50/50 of each). Sometimes you can buy 100% percent Propylene Glycol, but then you should dilute it with water before applying. If you look at the ingredients list on a lot of cosmetics you can see that Propylene Glycol is almost always on it. However, don't expect that your regular acne medication might work since it has Propylene Glycol in it. It's often a very low percentage of actual Propylene Glycol in the product. Research/information:- Pityrosporum folliculitis: a common disease of the young and middle-aged Products: - Leave on product: PG from, 50/50 PG/Water from Mandelic Acid Description: There is very little research on the antifungal effect of Mandelic Acid, but it's a popular product on this board against Pityrosporum Folliculitis. It's claimed to be both antifungal and antibacterial and exfoliates the skin. Therefore it's also good against red marks left from acne/PF. I personally receommend the product from Vivant for Pityrosporum Folliculitis on the body since it's a strong product(15% Mandelic + 2% lactic), it has very little ingredients besides the Mandelic and has some Propylene Glycol in it. However, the serum is very expensive and therefore it might be wise to buy the toner(9% mandelic) if your economy is tight. Research/information:- Mandelic acid is amazing against blackheads and acne ... - Nucelle changed my life Products: - Cleanser/wash: Vivant Mandelic Acid Cleanser - Leave on product: Vivant Mandelic Acid serum, Vivant Mandelic Acid toner, Nucelle Mandelic Acid Other treatments: Salicylic Acid Description: Used against both acne and Pityrosporum Folliculitis and is always a safe bet if you aren't 100% sure what you got. Mostly used in a concentration from 1,5% to 3% and either as a cleanser or a leave on product. A leave on product is nearly always the best bet since the Salicylic acid in cleansers doesn't sit on the skin long enough to do anything. Also, a Salicylic Acid product has to have a low pH to work(no higher than pH 4 is recommended). Most if not all cleansers has a higher pH than that and therefore the Salicylic Acid is pretty much ineffective. Research/information:- The antifungal activity of Salicylic Acid - Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis Products: - Leave on product: Dan's Salicylic Acid, Paula's Choice Liquid BHA, Salicylic Acid from Sulfur Description: Isn't the most known chemical against Pityrosproum Folliculitis, but has has antifungal, antibacterial, and keratolytic activity. Very drying when used as a leave on product and is therefore often used as a cleanser/wash and washed of after 5-10 min. Research/information:- The use of Sulfur in dermatology - Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis - Topical Sulfur Products - Increase cell turnover (dead skin cant harden to create sebum) Products: - Cleanser/wash: Sulphur Soap(10% Sulphur), Sulphur(10%)/Salicylic Acid(3%), Grandpa's Thylox Soap Selenium Sulfide Description: Selenium sulfide is highly active in inhibiting the growth of P. ovale. It's usually used in shampoos and is washed of after about 5 min on the skin. Research/information:- Pityrosporum folliculitis: a common disease of the young and middle-aged - Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis Products: - Cleanser/wash: Selsun Blue, Selseb shampoo, Head & Shoulders Intensive Treatment Tea Tree Oil Description: Both antibacterial and antifungal and effective against Malassezia furfur(the same as P. Ovale) Should be diluted with f.ex another oil like emu or jojoba. You can also find it as a shampoo. Never buy Tea Tree Oil in plastic bottles. Also it's best if it's stored in dark glas bottles. Research/information:- Tea Trees and Their Therapeutic Properties Products: - Leave on product: Desert Essence Organic Tea Tree Oil Manuka Oil/honey Description: Manuka Oil is 20-30 times more active than Australian Tea Tree Oilfor gram positive bacteria, and 5-10 times more active for fungi. However, there's a lot more research on Tea Tree Oil and it's effect on the Pityrosporum yeast. Research/information:- East Cape Manuka Oil, Manuka Cream and Manuka Soap - Tea Trees and Their Therapeutic Properties Products: - Leave on product: Living Nature Manuka oil and honey gel, Manuka oil from Ciclopirox olamine cream Description: Antifungal often used to treat Pityrosporum folliculitis Research/information:- Monograph - Ciclopirox Olamine Products: - Leave on product: Can be bought from Econazole cream Description: Treats fungus infections Research/information:- Pityrosporum folliculitis: a common disease of the young and middle-aged Products: - Leave on product: Can be bought from Oil of Oregano Description: Antifungal Research/information:- More information on this Products: Leave on product: Oil of Oregano from North American Herb and Spice Apple Cider Vinegar Description: Malic Acid is found in Apple Cider Vinegar and is antifungal. It can be used directly on the skin, but should be diluted first. Research/information:- Apple Cider Vinegar Cures - Apple Cider Vinegar* Pictures On First Page, Reduces Oil, Red Marks, Acne, Dry Skin, Regulates pH levels & More Products: Leave on product: Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Oral Azole antifungal agents Description: The two most used are Ketoconazole and Itraconazole. It's very effective, and if it is indeed PF you got these mediacations should make a remarkable clearing. However, you are lucky if the results are permanent and one should continue topical medication afterwards. Research/information:- Short term treatment of pityrosporum folliculitis with itraconazole Products: You need a prescription to get this medication legally, and therefore you have to contact your doctor to get this stuff. Isotretinoin Description: A lot of people try Accutane after years of struggling. In a lot of cases it's effective against Pityrorsporum Folliculitis since the yeast thrive on oily skin. However, it's not always effective and some people on this board has experinced that their Pityrosporum Folliculitis has come back after the course of Accutane. Research/information: Products: Ask your dermatologist if you want this drug. Does diet, hygiene or physical activity affect Pityrosporum Folliculitis? When it comes to diet and Pityrosporum Folliculitis I'm not an expert. It's always hard to know if something is breaking you out or not. Some people say the fungus feed on sugar, but I have yet to see any hard evidence supporting this. So when it comes to general diet guidelines to help treat Pityrosporum Folliculitis there is a long way to go. However, there are several things that you can eat which should help to treat the condition from inside. This is a great list of natural antifungals Pityrosporum Folliculitis often affects athletes. This could be due to the sweating, rubbing from clothes etc. However I don't think working out and sweating makes PF worse if you take a cool shower right after you sweat using a medicated cleanser. Some people on this board feel that the Pityrosporum Folliculitis/acne increases due to bodybuilding. . I'm not sure about the direct connection between working out and Pityrosporum Folliculitis. The reason people feel that they get PF due to bodybuilding could simple be that they sweat a lot, wear to tight clothing or experience rubbing from weight bars or machines. I work out a lot myself an for a long time I tought Pityrorsporum Folliculitis were a result of that, but I have now realised that I manage to keep it under control by taking a cool shower right afterwards and use a medicated cleanser. However, I will break out if I go days with physical activity and no showering. What is your experience with Pityrosporum Folliculitis? Started getting what I tought was acne on my forehead around december/january 2006/2007. I used hair care products full of shitty ingredients and had long hair that touched my forehead. This caused several papules/pastules. However, the damage was done, and now I didn't want to cut my hair to reveal my shitty forehead. After a while I cut my hair and stopped using any products in it, but the problem persisted and got worse. During the following months I tried Dan's regimen, several diet changes, washes and more. However nothing seemed to do any good for my forehead. Summer 2007 I went on vacation and was in the sun for hours each day. I got a nice tan and all my acne on my forehead "cleared up". What I actually was doing was damaging my skin and disguising all the red marks behind a nice tan. I still regret this to the very day since it made my red marks stay for ages. At that time I hadn't acne on my body at all(just some spots on the top of my back). However, I got a pretty severe sunburn, and a lot of dead skin on my shoulders and upper back. A couple of weeks later I started getting "acne" on my shoulders, upper back and chest. Mostly I got Pastules and what looked like whitehead on my chest(see the last picture under pictures) and the little deeper kind of pastules/papules on my shoulders/upper back. Mostly it only itched on the upper back and sometimes on the chest. However the itch was far from irritating and was never really a problem. Through the winter(2007(September)-2008(January)) I didn't do much to the problem. I was hoping it would go away on it's own, and it was winter so I didn't have to reveal my upper body. When the summer got nearer I realised this shit wasn't going away, and I started trying different kind of products. After a while I started vitamin B5. It worked well on my forehead, but didn't do much for my upper body. Read my progress on this in my log Around april 2008 I started reading about Pityrosporum Folliculitis, and I soon realised this was what I had. Since then I've spent countless hours researching the subject. Started using Head & Shoulders, but without great results. After a while I also started using Mandelic Acid and it began to clear up. However it didn't hold the folliculitis in check and soon I satrted a new topical regimen including a Sulphur/Salicylic Acid soap( and Daktarin Gold(Ketoconazole 2%) cream. it worked well for a while, but the PF soon started to occur again. The next thing on the agenda was Propylene Glycol which seemed to work great for the first couple of days/the first week, but as I had previously experienced PF is a bitch and after 3 weeks I still got spots on my chest and shoulders/upper back. September 11th I started Itraconazole 200 mg/day and a new chapter in my treatment history is about to begin. Without this forum I would have never realised that it's Pityrosporum Folliculitis I have, and I would probably still be struggling with different kind of acne treatments. It's about time I give something back to this community, and I hope this post will help other members. If I can help one person to get clear by creating this FAQ it's all worth it. Good luck!

  25. Hello, I've been having heavy acne (comedones absolutely everywhere on the body and face, cysts primarily on neck, chest and upper back and along the length of the spine). I've tried for a long time benzoyl peroxide, combined antibiotics, antifungal medication, tretinoin, glicolyc acid, salicylic acid, different alcohols, sulfur, supplements(zinc, magnesium, vitamin d3, probiotics, vitamin B complex), I've spent an absurd amount of money, effort and pain and never got a permanent result or even a temporary full cleanse. The ONLY thing that ever worked was leaving head and shoulders on my skin overnight. The result is that my comedones dissapear in 1-2 days, my cysts slowly fade too and I am clear for nearly a week, however I get unbearably painful chemical burns(so painful that I can't fall asleep on the first day) and my skin sheds completely over the course of the week. I thought the main active ingredient of head and shoudlers is zinc pyrithione, so I purchased a spray that contains 1% zinc pyrithione. I used it for a while, but it had no effect (and it didn't give me chemical burns). So what else is it in head and shoulders that can be curing my acne? If the compound that is clearing my acne and the compound that is burning me are different, then I can search for a product that contains only the former. However I don't know which one it is. Here are the ingredients of head and shoulders, quoted from Wikipedia: All the other ones are listed as inactive ingredients That can't be right, cause pure zinc pyrithione couldn't clear me up the same way or shed my skin so quickly.
