  1. I am on my second month on Isotretinoin (I use Oratane), and almost every cystic acne is gone already. Still have initial breakouts, but I hope next 2 month itwill be completely gone. So the deal is my severe scars. Im Russian, but Im living in Vietnam last 6 month. So in this 6month my skin got so bad, old scars became more obvious , a lot of new one (actually, 70percent of scars appeared in last 6 month). Am I wrong that I went to Asian counrty? Can this climte affect on scarring? Anyway, its time to start some action. I know that I must not treat scars while Im on Iso. So waht can I do best for them now? Any organic masks? Know about diet. Also Im a heavy smoker and pot smoker. I know that it has negative effects, so I gonna make big desicion to stop using it. But after Iso im gonna look for some professional help. Im gonna fight it till the end, no matter how many years it will take. (actually, scarring helps me in some way. Very rude way thou) I understand that glass-like skin is not possible (but I will get it:), just want to see constant improvements. Im 26 y.o. Do I have moderate () or severe scarring? Which treatments should I use? I think about TCA 100 at first for ice pick and box. Then subcicions with fillers? Also, can facelift can imrove rolling scars? Maybe facelift plus subcicions and fillers? When pull on my skin to ears, it looks very nice (but my mouth is looking like Mick Jagger's one, but its ok ). My budget for treatment now is 15.000 USD - 20.000 USD. Is it good amount of money? Remember that i gonna fight till the end. Not care about downtime at all if it is matter (i have no job because of scars) Most important and most dummy question - is it any hope? to bring my skin to normal condition? Am I 'lucky' that scars still new and red? Please follow this topic. I give myself 1000 days of 1000% effort to bring my skin to normal. Sorry for my english. I will post couple of pictures with inderect lightning later. About doctors, is it worth to flying to Brisbane to the man we all well know?
  2. Hey guys, My face is covered with acne scars that have surfaced mainly from picking at my skin. I've had 2 lazer resurfacing treatments in the past, costing a total of 2 grand. The treatments didn't really do much, so I've spent the last year and a half researching other, less expensive options. I ended up purchasing a dermaroller that had the best reviews. It was supposed to be a really good quality roller, but it felt as if it was causing microtares so I never used it again. I later purchased TCA 100% in attempts to perform the cross method. I did a test spot on the side of my forehead, where if it worsened the scar I wouldn't mind so much. Everything went fine with the test spot, but still I've been really nervous to try it on my cheek, as I'm terrified of making any of the scars that do bother me, worse. Since I want the end results to be better instead of worse, I'm constantly searching for any new tips/tricks on performing the cross technique, just in case I missed anything. Also, it's because I'm still a little unsure of the types of scars I have in the first place, and from what I understand the actual TCA application is different for icepicks and boxcars. The area that bothers me most is my left cheek, so I've posted pictures for some input on the types of scars on my cheek. And, if they're mixed, which ones (specifically) are the icepicks/boxcars. The two pictures are the same, but in the second one I've pointed to the specific scars I need to identify. I'd also really like to hear what you guys think would be the best treatment in removing them. Should I continue on my quest to perform TCA cross? Should I just go buy the derminator? Maybe get subcision? Also, I'd like to hear if anyone has any advice on performing TCA cross. During application, should the toothpick actually touch the walls inside the scar? I've read yes, and I've also read no, that it should only touch the very bottom. I've also read that if you only do the very center it could widen the scar. It's all just so confusing and I wish someone would tell me definitively where exactly the toothpick should touch for the types of scars that I have on my cheek. Please send your thoughts and any advice!
  3. So I am 18 and i still have some active acne but i am wondering if the marks on my face are indented scars or just pigmentation. I started useing differin 5 weeks ago for the acne, will that combat these marks, and if they are scars will differin even them out?
  4. Hey Guys, I've been lurking in this forum for over four years now but haven't actually found the guts to post yet. So firstly, thank you to all the members for the valuable info here. Thankfully, I don't suffer from acne anymore (thanks to a year long dose of Accutane). I've finished my round of Accutane over six months ago so I'm now trying to find the preferred route of treatment for my depressed acne scars. I'm really hoping there's a solution for my scarring, at least to minimize their appearance, I feel like my life has been turned upside down and all people see when they see me is my scarring. It's really hard to accept that, so if you could please explain to me what type of scars these are and their level of severity I think it would really help me towards finding the best possible solutions for them. Since I'm actually completely clueless at what type of scarring I have (some days I think they're icepicks, others I see them as rolling scars). I've attached some overhead lighting pics (with make up on, I think this way they look like ice pick scars) and some front facing ones with flash (this is when they sort of look like rolling scars, it's pretty confusing). Also, I am a 22 years old woman based in Barcelona, Spain so if anyone knows of good dermatologists or plastic surgeons that would be amazing. Thank you.
  5. Finding Professional Help

Hey guys, So I'm looking to get professional help to take care of my Acne scars. I am having a hard time just finding someone to see....I called a few dermatologists but they didn't do cosmetic work. I've posted some pictures of my scars on here and was told TCA Cross would be beneficial. So my question is....Should I be looking for a dermatologist or a plastic/cosmetic surgeon?
  6. Microneedling Advice

Hi all, I have pretty shallow icepick scars across my forehead, and I recently scheduled an appointment for microneedling. I'm just wondering if this is a smart and effective path to follow, and if so, what length of needles are generally recommended. Thanks!
  7. Need help identifying scars

And also what I can do for them please? I rolled my face with a 1.5mm roller and 2mm dermastamp 3 days before these pictures were taken. What else can I do?
  8. hi well I am a 15 year old girl and ive been suffering with acne for about 2 years but about a year ago it started getting really bad. About two months ago i started on minocycline 100mg twice a day and it broke me out three weeks later but now i only have hyperpigmentation, like 10-15 small icepick scars (kinda look like pores but a lil bigger) and like two shallow scars. Will these go away with time or did any of you guys acne scars took away??? Can you guys recommend any homemade face masks for hyperpigmentation too. How long will my hyperpigmentation take to go away??? Im realy stressed for my acne scars
  9. I've had a scar directly in the middle of my philtrum for a couple of months although I don't remember exactly when I got it. The philtrum is the little indention above your lip. Well anyway it's super annoying and is extremely noticeable due to its symmetry of being directly in the center of it. It resembles an enlarged pore like you get from blackheads on your cheeks, but a little bit bigger and deeper. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it or reduce it? Anything will help
  10. My face is ruined

What should I do??? Is my life ruined???? Is there anyway I can have the scars go away???
  11. Hello everyone I am new to this forum. I come from Germany, and here we don't have so much knowledge about getting rid of scars. So I am in my twenties now, and have a surgery scar in my face ( from an accident in my childhood) and a few acne scars. Also I have very shallow chickenpox scars. For the acne scars, I think they are scarred pores mostly but also Ice Pick ones. Can you maybe help identify them? I am not really sure wich type of scars I have. I also have a deep scar on my knee which I have uploaded. So first of all, I tried some stuff to get rid of those scars, I had laser, microdermabrasion, derma roller, single needling (0,5mm) etc but nothing really worked. I dont really want to laser my face again, because I think It doesn't work , and I heard it is bad for the skin quality, So my plan for my face is: - trying TCA Cross VERY CAREFULLY at home ( NO Doctor offers it her in Germany so I have to do it by myself) I like to try the TCA Cross 30% for my scarred pores and the Ice Pick Scar. - trying single Needling ( depth: 1,5-2mm) because the ones from own doc aren't deep enough in my opinion for my scarred pores and the Ice Pick Scar and the Chickenpox Scars. What do you think about my Plan? Is there a better method for my acne/ chickenpox scars? AND I don't really know what to do about my surgical Scar. Is there a method to improve it? I want also to get rid of the whiteness. For the scars on my knee: I like to get away the whiteness and the depth. Maybe fraxellaser helps for the depth and recell for the whiteness. What do you think about it? Thanks a lot for your help! Sina
  12. The thing about Dr. Rullan is that he is far away from the pacific northwest where I am but I want to go at least check him out since there are no real competitors here to choose from. I was wondering if ya'll been to him. I've seen youtube vid with Elaine After Accutane and it seems he helped her a lot!!!!!! And I believe he's prbly the best I've found. My acne scarring is moderate to somewhat severe idk.. in my eyes but I'll post a link to my other posts where I have pics for background. I want to get tca cross and subscicon and possibly his chemobrasion but I am wary of this because there have been noot that many reviews. What do you guys think this would be a good deal for me ? Of course thou I'd be getting a consultation next year but any input would be great. I've been with these scars for about 4 years so here's to hoping!! Any Experiences welcome !!!! My pics of scarring in links below!! thanks !! http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/362424-what-type-of-scar-treatments-do-i-need/?#comment-3538145 http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/362269-what-type-of-scarring-do-i-have-please-help-post-accutane/?#comment-3537502 http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/361593-please-help-urgent-acne-scarring-pics/?#comment-3534788
  13. For the past 1-2 years I've been getting these little hardened plugs of sebum/keratin? in my pores. They look like little rice grains. Every time they come out, whether by force or not, a little scarred hole is left behind. They often come out with a small piece of hair attached, including eyebrow hair! <------ This makes me real sad They may be blackheads, I don't know. But I'm pretty sure I have seborrheic dermatitis based on these symptoms + oily, flaky skin. These holes are really noticeable and I have them spread on my forehead and both cheeks. Has anyone have success/suggestions on what to do with these?! Currently I dermastamp the parts of my face with boxcar scarring, would dermastamp help these out? Also, any seb derm solutions will be very much appreciated.
  14. Advice on my Scarring

Hi there, I am new to acne.org and I was just wondering if any one of you knowledgeable members can assist me with figuring out a plan for my scarring. I am not sure if these are enlarged pores or icepick scars. I am in my 20s and on accutane so acne is not active and hasnt been for a while, the scars are mainly a result of hormonal changes from birth control in my teens. While i do not intend to do any scar treatment until after im off accutne, I still would like to get a head start. I realize this is mild scarring but it is very disheartening; any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers
  15. Any hope for my face?

Is there any hope for my face, any way I could get my laugh lines fixed?
  16. I'm basically looking for something that I can do cheap and easily at home. Already have a .75mm Dermroller for complexion and looking to buy a 1.5 mm Dermastamp for my scars. Does anyone have experience with Dermastamping and doing TCA peels? I have shallow pitted scars that you can see in my other posts. Do you think I will have any benefit at all? My skin is pretty bad as it is so I figured I could at least try to make the rest of my skin look decent in the meantime. I'm thinking Dermastamp every 1.5 months with a peel somewhere in between and add vitamin c serum. I will eventually get around to subcision and possibly TCA cross but I think I am at least a year or so away from that. Would love to hear if anyone has any experience/results from something similar. Overall I'm wondering if it would even be worth it.
  17. Hey everyone, Just wanted to post some before and after pics of my skin after various scar treatments. I want to let you all know to that scars can be improved and don't give up if they get you down. I would have considered mine severe before treating them, now I rate them as maybe moderate; but I still plan on doing more treatments, just figured id post some pics to help some of you out. Heres a very very general overview of what I've done over the years: Dermastamp 1.5mm + terproline TCA peel 30%, 15% various lactic acid peels That's it...however, I plan on getting some subcision and TCA cross done very soon, along with learning how to single needle and continuing dermastamping and spot treating with the 30% TCA. Also, If any of you are under the impression that you NEED lasers to treat severe scarring, I'm here to tell you that you don't. IMO, lasers are way too harsh and can actually do more harm than good. Look at every option and combine treatments, something will work for you. Good luck!
  18. Tca Cross?

I am interested in doing the tca cross scar treatment at home. I haven't found much information about it online. I was wondering if anyone knows how exactly to do tca cross? Any links or videos would really help me and anybody else interested in doing tca cross at home. Are some scars too big to do tca cross on? What size are scars supposed to be to do tca cross on?
  19. Basically after looking in the mirror daily I figured I'm an idiot to at least not try something small. I figured I will try TCA Cross on one of my scars and see how the results are. For those who have done it what do you think is a good percentage to do my first cross with? I was thinking start with 50% but i'm not sure if there is any safety advantage to the lower percentages. I would honestly love to hear any feedback on this matter. I will also post pictures so you guys can tell me what you think. The pictures are pretty shitty but should give you a decent idea of the scars I am working with. If you have any other suggestions on treatment methods I would love to hear them!! Thanks!!
  20. Hi everyone, I am a 21 year old Asian-Indian origin female struggling from moderate-severe acne scars. I first battled moderate acne for years before going on a low dosage of accutane (10 mg) for four months after which my breakouts stopped. I haven't had a new pimple in months now (yeeeeaas, thankfully) but I have horrid horrid acne scars all over my cheeks. These are almost impossible to conceal with makeup so I had decided to visit a dermatologist who could help me get rid of these using different techniques. I went through 4 rounds of subcision+ co2 laser over the span of 2 years and I recently (last month) had a fraxel treatment done at a new dermatologist's place. Needless to say after spending all this money, time and effort I have had barely 10-15% improvement in the scars. This is incredibly upsetting and I was wondering if people here who have had scars and have successfully minimised them to a large extent could provide some insight here. I have attached two pictures here. This was the harshest light I could find and my scars do look pretty pretty bad here. appreciate the input!
  21. What should I do ?

I have absolutely ruined my life this past year. I am 20 and never really had bad acne but I picked and squeezed so much it has destroyed my face. What treatments would be necessary to make my face smooth again?
  22. Can someone please tell me if this is scarring or pigmentation and how bad is it? Can it be treated?
  23. I have mild to moderate boxcar/icepick scarring located on both temples. I want to find the best overall Doctor within MA,CT,RI,NYC,(and possibly NJ). If someone can recommend the absolute best then I may be willing to fly somewhere for this. I am willing to travel a ways as I live in Masachusetts and my brother currently lives in NYC so I can stay with him for a while. I will most likely be looking into Subcision/tca cross, but am open to listening to a well established doctors advice as well. All suggestions and guidance is appreciated. If anyone has had experiences with Doctors in these states please lat me know. Thanks
  24. About 4 hours ago I had Fraxel:Repair (the ablative CO2 fractionated laser) done on my temples, forehead and cheeks. The doctor also used the Ultrapulse CO2 done around the eyes because it was better for skin tightening. The total cost 3000 USD here in California. I decided to have the treatment done for icepick scarring on my cheeks and poor texture. I should also note that I have had 6 treatments of the non-ablative laser treatment, Cynosure Affirm Multiplex, with ok results but I decided it was time to take a more aggressive approach. Scroll down to next post for after pictures.
