Dan recommends using the same regimen for acne on the front of the neck that is used for facial acne...cleansing, 2.5% bp, and moisturizing. Has anyone used Dan's regimen for acne on the front of the neck? If so, what were you results?

Ive been using the regimen for about 3-4 weeks now, it done good the first week then it started to slacken and now im at the same stage i was when i began, except that before i began the regimen i had little to no acne on my neck. I'm starting to loose faith in this regimen and am getting ready to start looking for a new one.

How much longer are you going to give it? Are you using anything else for your neck acne? |

Hey, i think im going to give it a few more weeks or until i find a new regimen. No, I've treated my neck the same as my face, just cleanser, BP and oil free moisturizer. I am though working out more and eating much more if that could have any effect. But in eating more im not pigging out in the junk food, im eating a lot of protein and low GI carbs. I have also given up all soft drinks and am staying away from sweets or lollies when i first started this regimen. Any thoughts, that might help would be GREATLY appreciated. I got my first pimple in Year 7 and now 4 years later i have managed to keep my acne. And just a question, I have a lot of shallow red scar like spots on my face, from where my past pimples have been and they look almost as bad as the acne, if you know of anything i could do to lesson or remove these marks it will also be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I wish I could tell you what worked, but my neck acne has been getting worse. I am on 90 mg of Solodyn once per day as well. As of today I will have been on it three weeks. You could try getting on an antibiotic to see if that helps. I know Accutane has worked for a lot of people with neck acne. I think the dietary changes you are making sound good. I am trying to do more with my diet as well and cut out soft drinks too. I read about a book called "The Clear Skin Diet" by Alan C. Logan and Valori Treloar in the Nutrition and Holistic health forum. I started reading it and highly recommend it. It has lots of useful information.
I have red marks too, but on my neck. I hate to say it, but I really think time is the only thing that can make much of a difference. There is a whole section on the org devoted to hyperpigmentation. red marks left after acne I have read people saying they had success using AHA on their red marks. I bought some of Dan's and have been using it on left over marks on my back, but it is too soon to tell if it's making much of a difference. I wish you the best of luck. Ok, that link didn't work. Still trying to figure out of how to use this. It's the section called Red marks after acne in the scar forum. |

Hey thanks for the advice, I am VERY relieved to understand now that the red marks on my face or (hyper pigmentation) are only temporary. The acne on my neck i am glad to say now hasn't had any new pimples and is just recovering from the last ones Ive had. I hope by saying this i don't Jinx it.

Thanks for the update. I hope you don't get more breakouts too. I get the small pimples as well and they are really annoying. As far as red marks go dermatologists all tell me they are temporary and fade in time, but I can't help but wonder do they ever completely fade. I've read some people on here saying they've had them for years. I guess time will tell. On the bright side mine have faded somewhat with time. If I could just stop getting pimples so I can stop getting new red marks! But I digress.
You might want to consult with a dermatologist if you aren't already doing so. Like I mentioned antibiotics or Accutane are options along with other topicals and laser treatments. I am at a loss of what else to do too. There are so many options and it's hard to know which one to pick. I do know however if you pick something stick with it for a while to really give it a chance to work. I'd be curious to hear how you are doing on the regimen in a few weeks. I'd love to hear what others have to say too. Your username says it all F*** acne. |
