  1. Dry lips a year later?

I would read through this thread and see if any of the suggestions you may not have tried yet may help./topic/270650-accutane-users-amazing-cure-for-cracked-and-chapped-lips/?do=embed">I would also check with your general doctor if things don't improve. Accutane can sometimes cause severe cheilitis! Hope this helps and good luck
  2. Did accutane really stunt my growth?

I am no doctor, but was married to one. I posted to you the direct information that is stated in side effects by the Roche themselves the Pharma company. There's many studies regarding this. Usually high dose or long term. Even if you took for 10mg off and on for 2yrs it could of had effect, but again without the x-ray once your course finished there really is no definite answer. Some have taken 20mg for 4 months and had hair loss that was permanent, everybody reacts differently https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9689293 It has been known for years that Accutane effects the bones in many different ways.
  3. Red Face ALL THE TIME

First I would say that the clean and clear night face cleanser may be to harsh if you are suffering from any type of Rosacea , burning etc. 2nd have you been to a doctor to see if you got Accutane induced Rosacea? Have you had any lab work to check for deficiencies? Please do look on this board/thread and also look at the mino/Accutane induced rosacea thread and you will see what others have done.
  4. Accutane is known to effect the joints and bone in some people. Some have had their pain subside after Accutane and some have not. If you already have issues, then it is possible that Accutane will exuberate these problems, in which may or may not get worse. Good Luck • bone and muscle problems. Accutane may affect bones, muscles, and ligaments and cause pain in your joints or muscles. Tell your doctor if you plan hard physical activity during treatment with Accutane. Tell your doctor if you get: • back pain • joint pain • broken bone. Tell all healthcare providers that you take Accutane if you break a bone. Stop Accutane and call your doctor right away if you have muscle weakness. Muscle weakness with or without pain can be a sign of serious muscle damage. Accutane may stop long bone growth in teenagers who are still growing
  5. Did accutane really stunt my growth?

Accutane is known to cause epiphyseal closure and other bone problems. Even as far back as when the drug first rolled on to the market. To actually know whether or not Accutane stunted your growth you would've had to have an x-ray to see if your plate closed or not, whether that is a before and after or after your course. I personally suffered bone loss and in return loss of height! • bone and muscle problems. Accutane may stop long bone growth in teenagers who are still growing This is from Roche themselves!
  6. Just a question and I somewhat believe that Accutane accelerates premature aging....however, I am not sure if the telomeres test is useful unless you would have had it before Accutane to compare after taking Accutane. Just a thought???? Or is it more a test that they do based on your age and where your telomeres should be?
  7. Tretinoin - Brain fog is like being forgetful, loss of concentration and mental clarity. HSTL - first how are your eyes and do you still have a lot of dryness? How long have you been off Accutane? As for a short period of time or lower dose, I tend to believe that if Accutane doesn't agree with you and your body, it's not going to agree no matter dose or length. You can also google brain fog and Accutane or do a search on the board and find others who suffered this and possibly what helped them. Now as for the brain fog, if you have stopped taking Accutane, then I know you can try some things such as B vitamins, Vit D, Magnesium, meditation, clean diet, proper and good sleep, exercise and sometimes if it still persists neuro feedback, also make sure you are staying away from alcohol. I hope this helps and good luck!
  8. Severe Anxiety caused by Accutane

I am so sorry to hear you are suffering with the anxiety. I would give the 5-HTP a chance as a week is not enough, though I can relate you probably want a quick solution as anxiety can be horrible. I would also continue with a clean diet, exercise, being around those who's company you enjoy. Though I don't suffer from permanent anxiety, when I am stressed or have bouts of anxiety I have found mindful meditation and EFT tapping (check out Nick Ortner) have helped. Also, I have noticed you mentioned B6 which is good to take and also maybe some b12. I do know that some who developed anxiety after taking Accutane have had some success with L-tryptophan, which can also help with sleep if your having problems there. I would also try to stay from any high retinol rich foods. You can also maybe connect with a few in the long term suffer thread who might suffered from the same. I hope this helps, good luck and hang in there
  9. As for Tinnitus being common or rare, you will get varied answers on that. I do know it has been a known side effect for a long time, you can google or do a search on this board and see similar posts regarding tinnitus and Accutane dating as far back as 2003. Now I have always felt that it doesn't matter dosage or how long you been on Accutane in regards to side effects, ( though lower dose obviously less chance) If Accutane doesn't agree with you, it just doesn't agree with you. The fact that the first time you stopped and it cleared up and now starting a even lower dose and it's back make it somewhat obvious that Accutane is probably the culprit. Now if you continue Accutane, it is hard to say whether you will end up with permanent damage to hearing or constant tinnitus. I am not sure if your acne is mild, persistent mild etc...., but I would call your derm back and let them know. Now this is the information in the U.S. that is enclosed with Accutane Hearing Impairment: Impaired hearing has been reported in patients taking Accutane; in some cases, the hearing impairment has been reported to persist after therapy has been discontinued. Mechanism(s) and causality for this event have not been established. Patients who experience tinnitus or hearing impairment should discontinue Accutane treatment and be referred for specialized care for further evaluation (see ADVERSE REACTIONS: Special Senses). I hope this helps and good luck
  10. Outside of the dry eyes from Accutane, you got rosacea double. I hope you look at some of the links I posted for you. I would also look at some of Lamarr1986 posts as he had the same problems. I wish I had a cure all answer for you, but I don't. I myself suffer from dry eyes and I have sjrogren's type and I produce no tears! I would also stick with a clean diet, It will help, but not cure. The other question is what type of Rosacea do you have? I believe there are different treatments depending on the type! Good Luck
  11. I suggest anyone with hair loss from Accutane see someone to get a dx...Accutane can cause hair loss in many ways. TE is most common, which in some goes in cycles, If you are a male and have a hx of mpb in your family it will speed up the process. There are many reports along with TE....Alopecia and if any like myself who suffer from autoimmune i.e. graves and type 1 diabetes or iron, vit d deficiency then there it is battle, but some hope.... Good Luck chicanery
  12. A little humor for the evening....I might of survived near death from Accutane, but I am not sure I will survive my cubbies tonight!!!!! Omg they are killing me uggh!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. You mention that you had some positive tests for Rheumatoid, are they treating you for that? Yes Accutane can effect the bones and joints. Some People have recovered and others its a struggle. Hyaluronic Acid is good and so is Vit D for the Crepitus. I am not sure what brand of Hyaluronic Acid you are taking, but Baxyl is a good one and I would do liquid Vit D drops if you can and Magnesium is also very good. I would make sure you have a very good and clean diet. If strenuous activity is effecting your joints I would try doing what you can and maybe yoga, Pilates and swimming is always great! You can also look at the long term sides thread...there are a few that have done liver flushes. As for Accutane still being in the body there have been many theories on how Accutane causes problems.
  14. Help please

Though your post doesn't appear to acne related, maybe she is having a allergic reaction to something due to them slightly being itchy. maybe try some Benadryl or cortisone cream. I would definitely call her doctor if it doesn't clear up or gets worse. Hope this helps.
  15. this is all I needed!

I am not sure if you'll get a response from the original poster it looks like they haven't been on acne.org since 2008. I myself have never had chickenpox even as an adult. Hopefully someone will have some insight for you. Have you spoken to your doctor did they give any suggestions?
  16. johnsmith121- yes it can cause folliculitis, Accutane is known to lower the immune system, slow wound healing, harbor more bacteria etc. I would advise you to think real hard about taking a third course of Accutane, even 1 course is playing Russian roulette with your health.
  17. Definitely clean up your diet, and also try and stay away from acidic foods as it will make the dryness worse. Have you looked at the Rosacea thread/forum? Have you seen a doctor had any lab work. You may have cheilitis of your lips and Accutane is known to cause problems with the eyes especially dryness. I would see a eye doctor to rule out any eye problems that can be causing dryness induced by Accutane. http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/193804-post-accutaneminocycline-facial-flushing/?page=22 http://www.acne.org/messageboard/forum/52-rosacea-facial-redness/ http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/270650-accutane-users-amazing-cure-for-cracked-and-chapped-lips/ hope this helps!
  18. There are a few like my self who developed hyperthyroid, or had similar symptoms but their levels were deemed as normal. Though I agree the majority of Accutane patients develop or have symptoms of hypothyroid. You can try Iodine, In fact I think movingonmusicgal has used a Iodine protocol. As long as you haven't been dx with a autoimmune thyroid disorder then you should be fine to try Iodine.
  19. Accutane is known to effect some people, whether it be depression, anxiety, brain fog, etc. for some it has persisted even after Accutane was discontinued. Signs and symptoms of depression, as described in the brochure ("Recognizing Psychiatric Disorders in Adolescents and Young Adults"), include sad mood, hopelessness, feelings of guilt, worthlessness or helplessness, loss of pleasure or interest in activities, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, change in sleep pattern, change in weight or appetite, suicidal thoughts or attempts, restlessness, irritability, acting on dangerous impulses, and persistent physical symptoms unresponsive to treatment. Patients should stop Accutane and the patient or a family member should promptly contact their prescriber if the patient develops depression, mood disturbance, psychosis, or aggression, without waiting until the next visit. Discontinuation of Accutane therapy may be insufficient; further evaluation may be necessary If he is having any of these issues he should contact his doctor. Hope this helps!
  20. Accutane - sex

If you are in the U.S. then I-Pledge requires you to enter two forms of birth control, because of Accutane's teratogenicity. It is highly toxic to a fetus if you were to become pregnant and it does not matter length of time you have been on Accutane you have a high risk of severe birth defects. my advice and to be responsible would be to either continue abstinence or birth control along with another form of protection. You can discuss your options with your doctor if you are not wanting to take birth control to see if there is another option on top of condoms.
  21. Yes, Hyper thyroid can cause blushing and flushing. Have you looked through the thread link I posted for you. Have you had any labs, taking any supplements etc.
  22. Helpmeoutbuddies11- You can read through and check out this thread that a couple years ago some Accutane suffers made in the Rosacea forum. Do you have flushing and blushing consistently or just at random times? http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/193804-post-accutaneminocycline-facial-flushing/
  23. There really is no difference except Roche is the brand name of Accutane and Clavaris is generic form. If your insurance only covers the brand name then I would suggest letting your dermatologist know. A lot of times insurance companies cover generics.
  24. Welcome to the Mod Squad, Jen!!!! Well deserved!!! :)

Unfortunately, we are not doctors here at Acne.org and are not able to dx your conditions. With that being said, the symptoms you describe resemble someone having or had a stroke, though it could be a number of things also. As for Accutane here in the U.S. it does mention under side effects in cardiovascular the following: Cardiovascular palpitation, tachycardia, vascular thrombotic disease, stroke I would say if you are having life threating symptoms to seek medical care immediately such as a emergency room.
