    Day 38
Haven't been able to update since I've been traveling and I've been kinda busy. But my face has sorta been clearing up. I went to the dermatologist a little over a week ago and he bumped me up to 80mg of Zenatane. Haven't really gotten any new side effects, except my lips are even more chapped, and I'm getting really dry skin around the corners of my lips. It's so annoying, it makes me look like I ate some powdered donuts and didn't wipe my face.

I also got really sunburned because I went on an 18 hr road trip and my AC went out so I was driving with my arm out the window. Skin is peeling really bad right now. I also think my dry skin is happening because I'm in Florida atm which is a lot dryer than my home state, plus the saltwater may also contribute to that. But my acne is a bit more controllable now, the few breakouts I have are due to bad diet (have been eating a lot of shit food) but at least I'm not breaking out like I was a month ago.

My dermatologist said my face has cleared up since he last saw me and he said that this will probably be my last month on it. Hopefully he's right, but I'm having a feeling that I'll probably have to do at least 1 more. I've just got 9 yrs worth of scarring and while the accutane is lessening the pigmentation of my scars, I feel that it will take more than just 60 days to get rid of the damage.

Well once I get back home I'm gonna start running again because I need to lose like 20 lbs so I'm hoping that will clear up my skin a bit. I was looking though some pictures from 4 years ago and my face is sooo much better since then, which is weird because I got called gross by some random girl at the grocery store.

Anyway I'll try to do regular updates, it's just annoying since I have no internet connection and I can only post from my phone (which has limited data)

I'm glad to see it's working for you. I'm at week 2 and seeing minor effects already. Hopefully by week 4 my face will be clear. I've been battling acne for almost 10 years already, hopefully Accutane will be the final cure.

I've been on accutane for 2 weeks and I'm experiencing the weak bones side effect. It's annoying because it made me lose motivation to lift weights. And as for the dry skin on your mouth, I bought some Neutrogena moisturizer that works well for that.

    Day 16
So it's Day 16 now, and I cant really tell if my skin is clearing up yet. That huge cyst that I had hasn't quite gone away, but the swelling has definitely reduced. The day after I made that last entry, when I washed my face in the morning it bursted and was leaking a lot of pus and blood. Eww. Also when I patted my face down with a towel, I noticed a bunch of blood coming from my left jawline, which was from a previous cyst that I had like a month ago. But it was leaking a lot of blood for some reason. I had that thing dealt with by a cortisone shot in my face, and god damn those things hurt. I just thought it was odd that it was leaking blood despite having healed since 4 weeks ago.

I've read on a few peoples blogs that Aquafor is good for the chapped lips so I bought some, but honestly I think regular Chapstick works better for me. With aquafor I have to reapply it every 30 mins, with chapstick it's more like once every 3 hours.
Another thing I noticed is when I drink alcohol (yes I know you aren't supposed to drink on this drug) my face gets really hot and itchy, and it feels like my acne is pulsating. But the weird part is I only feel these side effects from the first drink. I don't binge drink on accutane anyway, usually just have 2-3 drinks.
When I wake up in the morning, my face is covered in dead skin, especially around my mouth. It looks pretty gross to be honest, and it happens regardless of putting moisturizer on or not.

I also wanted to mention that I'm on Lithium for bipolar, and a side effect of that is Cystic Acne, so maybe my breakouts were coming from that, only been on that for a little over a week though.

Anyway not much to say, I've been really stressed out lately so I've had a few breakouts, but I'm starting to think I'm over the worst part of it, who knows. I've been staying out of the sun religiously though, I have to wait until 9 or 10 to take my dogs on a walk (plus I don't want anyone to see my shitty skin)

Also I used to think I had really severe acne, but after seeing some of the pics on this site I've changed my mind. I just never see anyone with acne, even when I was in high school everyone had perfectly clear skin (except me of course) I can seriously remember 2 people with acne but thats because both of them were on accutane going through the worst part of it, thankfully my skin hasn't gotten as bad as theirs did, but it might. I really hope it doesn't. These 2 guys had literally every square inch of their face covered in small zits. But on the flip side one of my sisters friends (a girl) was on accutane and she never broke out one bit. I don't even know why she went on accutane because she had pretty good skin.

I also have a dermatologist appointment in 3 days, hopefully he'll bump me up to 60mg or even 80g. I'm not having very severe side effects so I think I can handle it. Plus I'm not exactly small, 6'2'' 225 lbs so I think 40mg for me is a fairly low dose.

    Day 11 + Introduction/back Story
Hi, I'm a 23 year old guy who has experienced acne since I was 14. Had completely clear skin through middle school but literally one week before high school I got my first pimple. Completely has ruined my self esteem and confidence for years. Despite this, I'm still an attractive guy and still have managed to get girlfriends, but when I look in the mirror I'm disgusted with myself. I never had clear skin since that age, as soon as one pimple went away, a new one would appear. At 16 my skin got really bad, and at this point I was just using OTC products, which I realize were horrible for my face since they're too strong for my sensitive skin. Made my acne even worse. At 18 I finally went to a dermatologist and he prescribed me some pills, don't even remember the name of them but they didn't work. At 20 I went to a different dermatologist and he prescribed Doxycycline and Epiduo I believe it's called, anyway that didn't work either.

My father had acne until he was 26, when I first told him about Accutane he advised against it because it has bad side effects (I agree with him there) and he just kept saying my acne isn't a big deal and it will clear up eventually. Well I'm sick of it and I want it gone now! So I just decided to get on accutane.

My dermatologist was skeptical about it, since I'm diagnosed with bipolar and clinical depression, which can be a lethal combination since many patients commit suicide, but I said fuck it, I've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Anyway heres what I've been experiencing:

Day 1-7: not too many side effects, dry lips, not many new break outs. I have been noticing my bones feel weaker. When I wake up I feel like a 90 year old man lol.

Day 8-11: extremely dry lips, I'm breaking out A LOT! My skin is starting to look how it did when I was 18. I have a giant cyst under my eye, it seriously looks like I was in a fight. One thing I have noticed is my acne clears up faster. I had a pimple on the side of my nose like 2 days ago and it's already gone. So I suppose that's a good thing. From what I've read I'm currently going through the stage where you're skin gets the worst, but I don't mind it too much since I lost my job and not in school. Hardly anyone has to see my face.

Oh well I just cant wait to have clear skin
