Maybe, and it's a possiblity, but I'm more inclined to belive that its the mutlivitamin. Before I started taking it, I was taking my normal 30,000 IU of Vitamin A, 800 IU of Vitamin E, 30 mg of Zinc, 5,000 of Vitamin D, some alcillinpill, and none of those things by themselves or in combination with one another was enough to stop my acne from coming back once I stop taking my daily amoxicillin pill. It wasn't until I started the multivitamin that I didn't have to take the amoxicillin anymore.

Normally in less than a week of trying something, my acne would come back. But a week pasted of me being on my multivitamin, and nothing. 2 weeks pasted, and nothing. 1 month, 2 months, and still nothing.

I believe vitamin A is playing a role in it, that's why I continue to take the 30,000 IU along with the multivitamin.

What Cured My Acne - Alive Multivitamin
Growing up I had very severe cystic acne. I would get huge pimpels on my face and back. About 3 years ago I went to a dermatologist and was put on amoxicillin. This antibiotic killed the bacteria that caused acne, thus while on it I didn't expeirence any breakouts, and my skin was finally able to heal.

Recently my new dermatologist was looking to take me off amoxicillin, but the problem I kept running into was my acne would start to return within a week of being off amoxicillin.

In my mind there was only 1 of 2 ways to be completely acne free - Constantly have an antibiotic in my body that would actively kill the acne causing bacteria, or create an environment in my body in which acne couldn't thrive. I tried doing the latter through taking vitamins.

I tried vitamin d, e, a, zinc by themselves, but none of them ever kept my acne away. Because the vitamins by themselves weren't working I decided to try Alive Multivitamin. I read somewhere that vitamins work together or something, that the body uses them in various ways, and was thinking that even though i was taking e or a specifically for acne, maybe my body needed more than just these.

I started taking Alive about 2 months ago and haven't had a single breakout yet. My acne hasn't returned, and I haven't had a single pill of amoxicillin. I am also taking 30,000 IU of Vitamin A daily with my 3 Alive pills as well.

So, this is what's worked for me. I would suggest that anyone who has acne or is on an antibiotic and is looking to get off of it, to try a multi vitamin like Alive because your acne could be related to a major vitamin deficiency.

Feel free to ask any questions, or let me know how Alive is working for you. I get mine from IHerb:

Within 2 to 3 months my acne was gone. I still had scaring and whatnot, but that healed within a month or so. The scaring on my back didn't really clear, but I don't get cyst back there anymore, so I'm good.

    Hope you see good results.

Other than the ones I have listed, I haven't really tried anything else other than commercial acne products.

My amoxicillin is still working, but I would really like to find something that gets rid of my acne and not just supresses it, if that makes any sense. The moment I stop taking amoxicillin everything starts to come back. I hoping to find somekind of alternative that gets rid of my acne in which it supresses it like amoxicillin, but also heals my body so it won't produce more. That's pretty much the main reason why I've been resorting to vitamins and whatnot as replacements. I'm trying to create an environemnt in my body in which acne cannot thrive.

Thanks for recommending bactrim. I'll look into it.

    Amoxicillin Replacement?

I have been on Amoxcillin for about 3 years now and am afraid that my body will start to become immune to it. I was wondering if anyone else who has been on Amoxcillin or something similar ever came across a viable replacement? My problem is that amoxicillin seems to be the only thing thats works for my skin. I am currently taking these suppliments, but they are having little to no effect:

    Vitamin D3 (5000 IU)
    Zinc (30 mg)
    Vitamin C (1000 mg)
    Allicin (5000 mcg)
Queens Delight (Composed up 1000mg of Royal Jelly, 600mg of Propolis, and 1500mg of Bee Pollen)

I am also a vegetarian, and meditate daily. So I don't believe my acne to greatly influenced or effected by a bad diet or stress.
