Just wanted to update everyone on my situation. I did the OCM in Oct 2013. It's now July. My acne is pretty much gone now, minimal scarring! Yay! My skin tone is still a little rough. It took a long time, but I got rid of my acne naturally without the dermatologist. For me, it took lots of time and learning to leave your skin alone. I now don't wash my face at all (except with plain water) and I don't scrub. Occasionally, I put some homemade toner on my face (made with 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water, plus a few tablets of aspirin).

Good luck to the rest of you! so glad it's over!

Here's my acne when it was at its worst during the OCM. Note that I didn't have ANY acne (only blackheads) before I started OCM.

I know...I don't think people should try this at all...even if they think the oil is not pore clogging. This has been an absolute nightmare. I've managed to clear up the majority of my acne, with like 2 new breakouts every few days or so. My skin actually is smooth again but I have so much redness, it looks like the lower half of my face is still covered with acne. This has been what is helping me if you'd like to know: wash face with Purpose bar cleanser, use Olay pro-x face brush, tone with 50% diluted raw apple cider vinegar with the "mother" with a cotton ball. I do this morning and night. If a zit pops then I put full strength apple cider vinegar on that pimple only with a q-tip. I have slightly oily skin so I don't moisturize at all and my skin doesn't dry out. At night, after I wash and put on ACV, I apply betadine with a cotton ball to the areas that look like something might pop up.

Also, I drink lemon water multiple times a day. Honestly, I think the thing that has been helping the most is the Olay brush. I bought it at Christmas time, and it was the only different thing I added and my skin is finally almost cleared because of it. .

Thanks for responding and for your suggestions! The method I'm using now seems to work some days but then other days I get like 10 new zits/whiteheads. It's very frustrating...just when you think it's starting to heal, it flares up again I think I need to get some BP..I have not tried that yet. I'm going to try to add the On the Spot stuff into my current routine. I think I'll stick with the African black soap for cleanser, use BP, and then moisturize (i just got a new moisturizer...garnier oil free gel cream). hopefully it will clear soon and thanks again!

My acne is drying up. I still have a few "fresh" zits, but that's okay. In the beginning, I was getting like 5-10 new zits every day. The 3-4 I have right now are lingering but I'm not getting the mass quantity of new zits each day anymore. I'm also starting to see more space between the red marks/scarring and my real skin is showing through.

    Oil Cleansing Sucks
I've been dealing with acne from 1 month of oil cleansing (OCM) for 2 months now. I used olive oil, castor oil, and tea tree oil combo on my face daily in order to try to get rid blackheads. I was also intrigued by the fact that it was so cheap and natural. I only had maybe one or two occasional zits before starting OCM. Even during puberty, I only normally got 5 zits tops on my forehead. A month in, I started noticing I had 2-3 zits coming to surface on one of my cheeks, which I thought was odd because I had never broken out there before. About a week later, I noticed I was getting many bumps under my skin along my chin/jaw. I thought my skin was just going through "purging". Well I had to stop doing OCM because steaming my face with the very hot water was hurting my erupted acne. My face broke out so bad on my cheeks, there was no room between zits. I have "hard" areas under my skin that are probably full of blood/pus. My zits pop by themselves just by moving my face in a certain way. I even can pop my zits from the inside out by just pressing inside my mouth where the zits are located on my cheeks. They pop so easily, I have to sleep with gauze taped to my face at night to keep the acne from popping all over my pillow.

I think my acne is finally starting to heal though. I've got a routine that seems to be working so far, but I'm still on the look out for a good moisturizer. I'm afraid of getting a wrong moisturizer, especially given how my face reacted to the OCM. Here's what I'm doing:
    1. Taking about 10-15 B-5 supplements a day..not sure if this is doing anything or not.
    2. Using raw African black soap...I'm pretty sure this is what is helping. I've notice immediate results from this.
    3. Toning with witch hazel (currently using the stuff with alcohol in it, but looking to order some alcohol-free witch hazel
    4. Moisturizing with aloe vera gel (by Fruit of the Earth)
    5. Doing clay masks (Aztec secrets) about 1-2x per week.
    6. I just got new makeup to coverup my scars/inflammation/zits that doesn't have oil and contains salicylic acid (neutrogena skinclearing foundation and powder). My face was tingling all day from using it, and it dried out skin some, which is a plus in my book.
    7. I used St Ives blemish control scrub only when my face is peeling badly and I need to remove dead skin (about 1x per week)

    Things are looking up though!

I just wanted to warn everyone against using oil to "cleanse" their face. It's too dangerous.

This was a few weeks ago. It looks more irritated and has spread since then but this is my most recent picture just to give you an idea of what happened:

Do you recommend seeing a dermatologist for the antibiotic, or can you get that from a general doctor? What is PIH? Also for the BP, what kind did you get? LIke a spot treatment with BP?

I did the oil cleansing method in early September and by October, I started getting 3-4 pimples on my right cheek which I thought was strange because I had never broken out on my cheeks before. Before starting, I had maybe one pimple. I was just trying to get rid of existing blackheads with OCM (used olive oil, castor oil, and tea tree). Fast-forward to today and I have terrible inflammation on both cheeks and chin and jawline. My forehead is clear of pimples but covered with blackheads and my skin looks leathery. For about a month, I had no space between pimples, it is such severe acne. I never had acne this bad even throughout puberty. My face is very raw feeling and hurts to touch. Pus keeps oozing out of my skin if I move my face a lot. I've got "hard" areas on my cheeks that feel like they are filled with pus. I have to sleep with gauze on my face to keep the acne from popping on my pillow at night. To the person who tried the African black soap, is it still working? I just got some myself and I like it so far, but it seems to really be trying out my face a lot. I'm also applying aloe vera gel (the fruit of the earth brand) to my face afterwards as a moisturizer with tea tree oil mixed in. Do you think I should be using tea tree oil...will it clogged my pores like the other oils? I don't know if aloe is enough of a moisturizer. Also, I have been using Aztec bentonite clay a few times a week as well as St. Ives Scrub (don't use that often because exfoliating hurts my acne).
What do you guys suggest. I'm so sick of this acne:((
