Are you still eating in this way? How do you feel now that you've limited your fat intake?
Just asking because I read that the brain thrives on fats (avocado, fish, etc).

    Experiment on yourself.
Increase your intake of water rich foods and increase your intake of good water (filtered water with a pinch of sea salt or a bit of lime juice). Moisturize yourself from within.
Eat plenty of beneficial fats to preserve your suppleness/juiciness- avocados, coconut cream, hemp seeds
Rest more, this includes mental rest (silence or meditation).
Reduce your stress. Find ways to make life easier for yourself.
Do your best to reduce your intake of sweet foods (that includes fruits like bananas).
And, most importantly, find ways to be happy.
For gray hair, I read that seaweeds are helpful.
Exercising daily is also helpful in maintaining a vibrant appearance.
All of my suggestions are based on observing how others who remain 'youthful' live their lives.

Are there any other Black women on this site with natural hair who use non-comedogenic shampoo or hair care products? If so, could you share what you are currently using?

Evolution In Self-Care + Skin Care
    Good day, folks.
Recently reflected on my skin care journey and found myself being grateful for experiencing acne in my 20s. I've experienced cystic acne along with the other types which simply look inflamed. I recall going to a dermatologist and being prescribed Differin. I thought that was a joke and didn't even use it consistently. I remember using over the counter acne creams and observing how its use would darken parts of my skin. I knew that wasn't the fix.
I figured I could do something to affect a change in my skin, so I began to make small adjustments in what I ate (I know this doesn't work for everyone, yet it did help me). My approach to self-care and skin care evolved from the Standard American Diet (canned, frozen, refined and bagged foods) to vegan, which incorporated more whole foods and less processed foods. Then switched from vegan to mostly plant-based with a small amount of animal-based foods. Then I experimented with Paleo for almost a month (didn't see how that would work for me long term). Now, I'm back to mostly plant-based, with a bit of animal protein, and implementing Ayurvedic principles for my dosha. My skin isn't flawless, yet it is at the point in which I don't feel the need to wear makeup.
In addition to what I consume physically, I am also aware of what I consume mentally. Also realized how important it is to exercise each day for overall health. And I am making an effort to drink half my body weight in ounces of water (being properly hydrated improves my sense of well-being).
Thanks for reading. May you find what works for you.

  7. bamboomama added a post in a topic A 3-Day Regimen That Really Helps Me

Can hemp seeds be consumed instead of drinking fish oil? I don't mind eating salmon, yet I would rather eat hemp seeds instead of drinking fish oil. Thank you for sharing your 3-day regimen as it has confirmed some things for me concerning rice.

how about using mung bean powder as a cleanser instead of using honey and cinnamon? i mention that because it's something that some women use in traditional indian communities (it's a gentle and soap free cleanser).
the brown sugar as an exfoliant seems like it may be kind of harsh on the skin. exfoliation in general seems like it may just aggravate skin that's acne prone.

Suggestions For Probiotic Foods (Or Supplements)
    Good day, folks:

I'm seeking suggestions for Probiotic foods or supplements. What else is available beyond kimchi, kefir and kombucha?

Vinegar-like or pickled foods don't appeal to me at all, yet I would like to add more of these foods to my eating routine.

    Thank you for your assistance.

i used to think that dairy caused my acne, yet when i eat clarified butter (ghee) i don't have any issues. maybe it's how the dairy is processed? not sure, but i was kind of giddy to find that i could consume ghee and not have any cystic acne situations.
