Well it's a good thing I don't need input to know that the flushing works for me, from experience and success. It may not have worked for you, and I'm sorry to hear. I hope other things do help. you seem to have a wealth of knowledge.
To others with food sensitivites, LGlutamine has really helped with my gut. I find I am less sensitive to gluten in general, but sugar is still highly toxic to me. It seems foolish to continue to attack candida when I know the problem is a compromised or leaky gut, but at least reducing the count can give my body a break and prevent chronic localized yeast problems. I've been taking Nystatin to help reduce the candida and reducing/cutting out sugar completely. It's definitely difficult to cut out sugar completely, but it definitely eradicates joint pain, dry skin, and most issues for me (while taking it). Don't know if anyone else notices the same connection. I know this isn't new bringing this up...but for me, everything comes back to the gut. If that's functioning well and supported, I am well. I don't have any chrohn's, ulcerative colitis, etc diagnoses. Kimchi, kefir, yogurt, and other fermented foods all the way!
Also, I do appreciate the research and hypotheses on biochemistry...but, be careful with that stuff too. Studies can easily be misinterpreted by nonscientists...keep in mind many of them are just that, studies and are correlational much of the time. Just as people can poo poo flushing and other more natural remedies, layperson interpretation can be just as dangerous even when it is based on hard science. Experience in my opinion has been the most helpful constant throughout all of this. I do think there has been some truth to what people have laid out and I do take it seriously, but cautiously.
If liver flushing makes soap as you say it does, where were the "soap stones" the other 19 times?
It does work for some people. I've gotten stones out on every single occasion except one. But I am not here to convince people anymore. I just wanted to advocate that it helped me. And no, I don't believe it was psychological, and that is patronizing to even suggest, since I witnessed physical effects firsthand. Stop acting like you all know everything. If it works for me, leave it alone. I'm not telling everyone to go run and do it.
**Flushes help for many people, including myself. A few people i've talked with have proclaimed it cured them. I've only done 6 but have seen lasting improvements. Not out of the woods. Will it cure me? I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. Don't knock it until you try it though. And don't believe everything you read trying to debunk liver flushes. It doesn't make soap lol Liver flushing for me showed a direct correlation with increased collagen production/smoothing of the skin for weeks following.
Fun fact, I started supplementing with iodine, and nightblindness went away instantaneously. Skin suddenly gets smoother too. My thyroid checks out fine but it definitely starts boosting it's functioning. It's implicaiton with A receptors and A? I have no clue. I take it here and there whenever I have a flare up of symptoms. Which is rare these days now that i've cut out sugar. It's candida that's been giving me acute symptoms.
Samantha, do you take probiotics? I would recommend from my own experience and what you are listing to start there. Gut health has a huge impact on mental health and vice versa. Most of our serotonin is formed in the gut. You want to ensure you have good bacteria to keep your mood positive as a result. Just a thought. But everything else tha thas been listed on here is a good to incorporate too, yoga, healthy diet, reducing stress as much as possible. SLEEP is a major factor in recovery as well. I have hair loss as well. It subsides when i avoid any and all vitamin A products and foods (i get some natural betacarotene from veggies), avoid gluten, and I minimize/cut out sugar. I used the tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner (it's cheap from traders joe's to keep oil down and it has reduced shedding some). Just some thoughts, do with them what you will! Happy New Year

I do think the increased hair shedding at the very least is due to the vitamin D. I started taking it since my bones were feeling achy as they start to as i get less sunlight in the winter. it makes my gums, teeth ,and bones feel better. I'm sure based upon what was said though it can have effects on A receptors. Correct? What exactly is the mechanism between A and D? Sorry to get anyone's hopes up, but it sounds like it's working for others so far.
Manganese (with the other recommended vitamins) has increased my hair shedding, skin shedding, increased head pressure, and made me have a bloody nose. Lovely. I may need to take a break from this regimen.
Everyone thinks I'm a dude! haha I'm just tired of hearing it from people that havn't tried it, have read a few conventional/quackwatch articles, maybe did try it once, thought it was too hard, etc. Let people do their thing. If only people knew the connection between candida and congested livers!
Okay, so just to debunk the debunking. Liver flushing is real. The stones that come out are not stones in the traditional sense. What they are all bile-laden balls full of BACTERIA that the body needs to get out. They are easily softened typically from the malic acid in apple juice (if people are doing that one) or citric acid taken to help with passing them. I have done the flush 6 times, and each time the size and shape was different. I've passed thousands of stones. They started off in the first flush super tiny like grains of quinoa, and progressively got larger on the 3rd and 4th. 5th nothing came out...6th, massive stones came out. Each time, felt a huge purging that was physical and mental in nature. My inflammation subsided for a few weeks and my collagen production increased. Smooth skin, hair, epic joint mobiility, no need for yoga. I believe I am about halfway there. What can happen though is the bacteria release from the bile that's been trapped in those organs is so major it floods the system, so it is best to take breaks. It is also not helpful to do cleanses in the winter since the body is biologically prepared for rest/hibernation. Best to do them in the spring. Cannot emphasie breaks enough. It is the only thing that has drastically impacted my body in a positive way, including the naltrexone, but who wants to take meds. Just clogs the liver more. What do you think all of those balls of bacteria trapped in the blood vessels and capillary system in the liver do? Back up the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, lymphs, and you have a really shitty functioning body. This creates sysytemic inflammation in and of itself. Liver also plays a huge role in digestion. So if we cannot fix digestion through intensive measures it makes sense to look elsewhere...especially the liver, where accutane is renowned for corrupting. I agree, that the dietary recommendations by Andreas are ridiculous. But it's true about eating TOO many animal fats before the cleanse. I did that once and it was the last time. If it makes certain people feel better symptomatically, and you have not tried it because you too, read some "quackwatch" articles, don't judge others. Hey, I also read some articles that accutane has no long term side effects. Weird.
I think Stefan has brought up a good point. It is very true that constantly seeking answers over and over to the point of redundancy is anxiety manifesting itself, in a neurotic way. I think I have definitely used it to "cope", but find the more I do it, the worse I feel and the more I continue to do it (ironically). When I get out and "live" to the best of my ability, my problems start to pale in comparison. Despite my severe joint pain, other problems become less significant. This is the case for me, but I would also say i'm on the moderate to severe end. I luckily do not have ulcerative colitis or any acute severe diagnosis. THANKFULLY.
I do think the focus still needs to be on healing though. I don't mean incessantly searching for answers online (sometimes can be the blind leading the blind, so to speak; especially on forums), but trusting your own instincts, and learning new things about your health along the way. Pick up a book on biochemistry, impact of food on health, accupuncture, benefits of massage, etc. and read it leisurely, but don't obsess if possible. Easier said than done for most, including myself.
I trust my own treatment plan which happens to work for ME:
Diet: homemade kefir, 100 billion probiotic, GF diet, modified candida diet, low to no refined sugar, no milk, lots of veggies, meat, and soups (homemade), occasional treats
Exercise: Walking, yoga, some weights here and there
Fun: music, hiking (when joints permit), yoga, walking
Spiritual: making music, singing, nature, spending time with others
Therapeutic: all of the above, journaling, someday medical fun stuff
Andreas Moritz reportedly was silenced by big pharma, not killed and is alive and well. but who really knows. I think it's so random that there are no specifics about his death...that I could consistently find. Seems super fishy to me either way. I did like his cleanse though. I ran it by a few doctors and they said it likely wouldn't be harmful, and would likely be helpful. Go figure. He did look a little cadaverous.
I actually get more depressed when I go on this forum when I read intense stories and read about people wanting to give up, but hey, we've all been there. I cannot judge. It's just hard since I work in mental health and deal with comofrting people all day, and then need time for myself. I'm also grateful for the people I have met on here as well, as I have gotten great tips for living a healthier life.
I think supplements can sometimes do more harm than good. Whenever I begin taking supplements my hair begins shedding more, and I don't feel any better, I usually feel worse. Either way, I do what works for me. I encourage everyone on here to do what works for them regardless of what others are recommending. Sometimes it can hurt to try things recommended on here, I found that out firsthand, so do your research.

Also, for anyone doing liver flushes. YES they do help if you follow the guidelines carefully. Also, do not neglect the kidneys. Make sure to do kidney cleanses. I've only done 6 liver flushes, but definitely got a lot out. The stones are sitting in my freezer (love explaining that to new people in my life lol)
Reading the book Feed Your Genes Right by Jack Challem...fascinating. Discussed how our genes (generally speaking, not accutane specific) are not permanently damaged but as many others have said on here, they can be shut off or on; so not expressing themselves (our genes can be shy *ba da da*). The manganese, B vitamins, choline, etc. makes sense. There's a lot of discussion of specific disorders in the book that call for increasing to higher levels vitamin E, C, B, Acetyl L whatever, Coenzyme Q10, and others for long durations of time to begin those genes expressing themselves again. It discusses each vitamins role in DNA repair, synthesis, etc. B vitamisn are strongly implicated in both processes. Super interesting. Major shocker though, DIET is the biggest predictor of someone getting well. If you eat crap and drink and expect to get well fast, not gonna happen. Just my two cents.

AMEN. I don't think enough attention goes to the mental health component. Taking accutane is TRAUMATIZING in every sense of the word. I'm speaking as a mental health professional. I've had flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety due to tane, not earthshattering news really, but even without the brain changes, and just the physical symptoms, I would still likely experience the same mental symptoms...trauma in and of itself effects the brain significantly causing it to process information diffierently...it can be treated however...as long as there is no permanent damage. Thank god for neuroplasticity...How can one separate the physical component from mental though...it's like chicken or the egg. I digress...just thinking out loud.
I ate vitamin A by accident today and thought my head was going to explode. Ugh.
Can anyone attest to continued positive effects from manganese supplementation? I'm talking longer than one month if anyone's been taking it that long.
Update: Still on a strict candida diet...definitely have yeast implicated in this mess, but likely won't go away until my gut is restored....if it ever is. It's been exacerbating my joint inflammation, hair thinning, and skin itching. Definitely perpetuating my food sensitivities as well. BAH HUMBUG. At least Nystatin has provided major symptomatic relief. My gums aren't burning away with bacteria, the greasy scalp is reduced significantly, itching has subsided, joint pain significantly improved, and my sleep...welll, I didn't think sleep was possible until this point. Those yeast are little biotches. Also, interesting fact, candida will eat your blood sugar, making you hypoglycemic...but it's not because you are prediabetic, it's because they are feeding on your blood glucose.
In the backdrop of all this, still vitamin A sensitive, and any ingestion of it in any form exacerbates my symptoms. Yay!
I also agree that topics often go in circles, but I still believe that there is a wealth of information on here, and that we're close. I just don't necessarily believe supplementation is going to bring about this change. Just my belief, not a fact. I think the CBD and stem cell approach had my hopes up a while back, but neither of those are possiblities for me at this time.
