Check this out if you're wary about trying fin, people have had decent results on it. I'm scared of fin because of the potential sexual side effects it poses. Still looking for alternatives...I haven't been up to date with this forum for a while, but has anyone gotten any real tests done? If we could get a few blood test reports and cross check them with each other at critical test points (Cortisol, test, dht), we could find the culprit.
We're finally getting somewhere and its because we're actually TESTING and not guessing. I feel like the more data we have, we could probably narrow it down to the actual problem causing the hair loss, whether its testosterone, cortisol, estrogen, etc.
Correct, he never found it but thought he was close. I think he was leaning towards adrenal fatigue as well. But no one got cortisol saliva test, so we don't know as of yet if the theory holds.
I can refer you to his email if you want to talk to him, he's very informed on this specific problem after years of research, and you seem to be a smart and determined individual as well, so maybe talking it through you guys would be able to figure it out? For me, he told me to get those tests, but I'm nowhere close to my doctor to do that without spending hundreds....
You lose a lot more hair than you think. Think about it, how much hair do you lose in the shower? You're up about 16 hours a day, there's no way you could possibly count how much hair you're shedding throughout the day...if you're finding hair very frequently everytime your run your hand through your hair, then its a problem in my opinion..
Yeah this is the correct attitude to be having, hopefully they find something with the tests. The thing is I'm currently talking to someone who's researched this hair loss and B5 connection for 8 years and actually had a website about it back in '06. He gave me all the info about getting Cortisol, Testosterone, etc. tested and I'm relaying it back to you. He noted that Cysteine didn't do anything for him, yet I was hopeful 4 months ago when I tried it, and unfortunately he was right. I'm away from home at college so I won't be able to check with my doctor till I'm done in a few weeks.
Hopefully they find the cause in your bloodwork. If they don't and you have a chance, ask your doctor to specifically test the things in my post above. Chances are we're very close to finding something, we just need the tests done. Also make sure you ask for a copy of the results, and don't just let the doctor pass it off as nothing. Good luck!
The whole masturbation thing has nothing to do with this topic. This isn't regular balding, this is B5 megadose induced where we're losing hair all over our head, not the typical male pattern loss. I never had any hair issues until I did the megadose and no one in my immediate family has any hair loss issues. My dad is in his 60s and has a full head of hair.
My hope is that whatever we did to our bodies is reversible and until someone gets their adrenals (saliva test for cortisol especially) and hormones tested, we're gonna all be doing more guess work (and potential harm) by adding all this stuff like carnitine, more b5, methionine, atomidine, etc to our bodies. And guess work is what got us in this mess in the first place.
I would get tested myself but I'm away from my family doctor and June is the earliest I can do the bloodwork. If you have the opportunity to get tested, I STRONGLY urge you to do so without adding stuff blindly to your body.
Remember: 1. Saliva Cortisol test. Saliva gives the most accurate reading so specify this to your doctor!
2. Testosterone, DHT, Estrogen, DHEA test (sex hormones basically)
PJJordan do you have any update whether Carnitine worked for you? If not, I wouldn't want you to waste anymore money on pills that do you no good.
Good luck everyone and let's not let this thread die, we're helping a lot of people out with this if we can figure it out.
This may be the case who knows...I've heard that your body can't handle the sudden drop in b5 which almost everyone does when they notice hair loss. Has anyone to this point tested their cortisol? Thyroid might be out of the question considering Blue's came back normal.
Therefore who knows if the atomidine will work? Keep us updated pjj.
Well it didn't give just him bad results. You're the only one here that hasn't got hair loss (yet) from it. Everyone else here has gotten this side effect from it so there's a pretty good chance megadosing B5 and hairloss are linked.
But you can risk it if you want, it's your body after all.
I've been talking to a guy that has been studying this b5 hairloss connection for several years. He said the following should be tested (in order of importance)
2. Testosterone and DHT
Please make sure your doctor doesn't just pass you off as Male pattern baldness. Explain that you have hairloss all over your head, and you know of many people on forums that had this same side effect from megadosing B5. Its NOT Telogen Effluvium guys...several people have had this for over 2 years! TE fixes itself if you get rid of the root cause(taking the pills) and takes around 6-12 months.
I'm currently away at college but when I go home for break I will book an appointment as well. Best of luck guys, you're almost there.
