Splash your face repeatedly. And when you think you're done, keep splashing. And also google it, yes.
Don't use lactic acid daily. NO. Just use it every weekend or so. Also, only put it on for 1 minute on the first use and don't forget to do a test spot near your ear!
Please google this before you do anything, though. There is a lot of great advice out there! This guy does a great explanation and demonstration: At Home Chemical Peel-Lactic Acid.
Anyway, baking soda neutalizes the acid so that it doesn't keep working on your skin after you use it (you may end up burnt if you don't neutralize it!).
There are some people who have found histamine to be a contributor to their acne (as it is part of the inflammatory response). If Claritin is helping you, your acne is probably really histamine related because Claritin is an anti-histamine! It's just probably expensive to take one every single day, right?
Keep trying-- you'll get your life back! In fact, try to go out and "forget" about your acne for a while! The only way to get your life back is to not let it affect you so much and to continuously try to treat your acne until you find what works for you!
If you were a truly horrible person, you wouldn't feel guilty about feeling horrible. You wouldn't realize that you hurt people-- you would just do it and be done with it. Trust me, you deserve to be in this world and you deserve to be happy. You'll get there again, you just need a moment to snap yourself back into positive progress.
I'll add some:
Keeping your face above the water when you swim in the summertime so your makeup doesn't wash off
Thinking you're clear and then all of a sudden BAM! another bad breakout to ruin whatever hope you had
Waiting for your significant other to go to sleep so you can finally wash off your makeup.
Being afraid to eat something, work out, or touch your face wrong just in case any of those might break you out
I'm sure I have more, but those are my contribution! haha....goes to show you, though. We have lots of things to be worried about all the time! Good news is, we're not alone!
My husband and I were speaking today about self-pride and self-worth. What you are born with and how your body reacts to environmental factors are not things to be proud of nor are they things to be ashamed of. They just are. If you are born with skin that always tans, for example, and never burns.... does that make you better than someone who is born with easily burned skin? No...you didn't have control over that. It was just chance.
The things that matter are how you treat others, what you strive to do in life, and your motivation behind your actions. Try to convince yourself that your worth is not placed in your looks, your ailments, your "imperfections." Life is better than that. You are better than that.
I'm so happy for you!! I'm sorry acne was so hard on you, but I'm glad you have the relief you've been looking for through clear skin.
Hopefully it's just a weird seasonal phase and it all sorts itself out soon! Good idea to apply a bit more BP to those 'weird' areas. Just keep doing what you're doing because it obviously works! Don't over-do any treatment as to irritate your skin even further, and you should be fine.
Probably the best thing you can do now is moisturize and let heal. I'm assuming by "overtreating," you mean you put too many drying agents on your spots? Use some things that you know decrease the redness-- like a retinoid (if you have one), AHA, or aloe vera. If the people you're going to be around scrutinize your skin, just tell them it's not usually like this and it's because you're stressed. They'll take that as an answer and probably think of your skin in a different way-- they'll know it's just temporary and think you have nice skin otherwise. I doubt you look horrific! You're lovely! I hope your stress goes away soon!
What a great attitude! I need to adopt this-- no reason to be apologetic to other people about your skin! Sorry about your breakout, though...I know it can be frustrating when you have been clear and then it decides to creep back. But at least you know what will get you clear!
It's funny how when your skin is clearing...one zit can freak you out and make you think you're completely regressing! -- When before...5-6 new zits would be just another day. I've got one under my chin that came up after putting Mint Julep mask on it over night. That stuff really makes the spot come to a head. Anyway, I posted another picture in my gallery-- 19 days of trying not to pick and my new regimen.
Congratulations on getting into med school! That's amazing!! And at 21, too! Fantastic!
Also, I've been using the Olay Pro-X brush that's similar, but not as good, as Clarisonic. Even though I've read that it's not quite as effective, it's still really helping me. Maybe one day I'll splurge and get the Clarisonic!
ah, I think we've all been here...picking at a spot that's not ready at all and then "hey why not!"-picking at it until it's a huge irritated mess on your face. I used to keep picking at those type of spots day after day, but I think it's a good idea to put some sort of physical barrier there so that there's not even a chance for that to happen. Good idea! Don't worry about "pointlessness" of posts done here-- it's here for that very reason-- venting to the world of acne sufferers! Scabs prevent me from going out more often than bumps under the skin...you'd think I'd learn to not pick, then!! -_- haha Hoping for quick healing for you!
