Be Careful With Tazorac - My Experience
The following are my opinions and guesses, none of which are backed by any medical knowledge or science.

I currently have a lot of blackheads/keratin plugs on my nose, which has head to clumps of hard bumpy skin (they look like skin color raised bumps and are bumpy to the touch). Literally, for the past 4 years, I've wondered why my nose was developing these skin colored bumps. I saw so many derms, and they all offered me a different answer and a simple treatment: use retinoids. And in fear of getting more of these bumps, I religiously used these retinoids.

I am just beginning to realize how blackheads/keratin plugs can form these clumps of skin and cause bumpy skin, and I honestly think it's because I used tazorac. The bumps began to develop when I began to use tazorac (it was 4 years ago so I can't be sure, but I'm fairly positive in this). As they got worse, derms just told me to use it more. I ended up using tazorac twice a day at one point.

I honestly think the tazorac was so drying that my skin started producing oil like crazy which caused this. I can't go back in time to verify this. My nose was never red or flakey or never had outright signs of hating the tazorac or being overly dry, so I never noticed.

Please be careful if you use tazorac. This drug is no joke.

Personally, my diet or exercise or alcohol or anything like that has never affected my acne.

But here's my advice. I'm a guy, so I have no idea about birth control. But I probably would not start a pill that affects your whole body without a professional approval by a dermatologist. I've paid out of pocket to see a derm (because my stupid insurance didn't cover it). It averages about 150 per visit, which isn't bad, but you have to remember that you're probably going for more than one visit. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure there are state programs that provide you insurance if you don't have it, and A LOT of dermatologists accept it (at least I know my state does).

I totally understand your frustration and trying all these sorts of "cures". Every advertisement on the internet looks like a sure thing and you want to try it. I did and if I could go back I probably wouldn't because yeesh, I have no idea what half the chemicals I'm putting on my skin is.

Btw my skin (besides my nose) is absolutely clear now and has been for almost 2 years. I didn't have any scars, just browns marks like you and they've all healed. All I did was take a chance on Dan Kern's regimen, and it worked. I would absolutely recommend it. Try it for 3 months and see what happens. Don't try anything else while you're on it. I know it's tempting (it was for me too when I didn't see results for a few weeks), but just keep going. Follow the instructions religiously. It's the summer, what do you have to lose? See where you're at in August.

Day 9 and incredible results!? Dang, I'm jealous. At day 9 for me I think I was regretting ever starting the regimen cause I didn't think it was working.

But definitely stick with it. I'm glad I did.
