I'd be interested to know how you make out with it. I was too scared to try tetracycline because it can stain your teeth (it's mostly a problem with young kids whose teeth are still growing but can affect some adults too).

i started taking tetracycline on jan 2, 2 500 mg pills a day/3 months. almost 3 weeks still havent seen a difference. i am also using retin-a. btw i had severe cystic acne like when i was 14 - 17 years old, now im 18 and its moderate severe. but now i have ALOT of hyperpigmentation and red marks. the retin-a is supposed to help fade this. i also have had a couple large pimples on my neck and back since beginning tetracycline. ill let you know how this works out.

stop washing my face and just using pure water and sleeping with a humidifier- i think my skins problem is its sooo damaged from all the products and is just sooo dried out and stubborn. break outs slowlyyy going away but hopefully surely... also i soemone said i looked "pale" today in school - good news for less face redness i guess.

Hi JYH

I was prescribed tetracycline back in August and had a bad experience with it. I am only telling you this because you mentioned itching. I know there are many people out there for which this has worked wonders so It may work for you. I was taking (2) 500mg pills a day and only took them for a period of (4) days. Within in those days my neck broke out BAD (never had neck acne before this) but the weird thing was that I itched so bad. The itching was why I was told to stop taking it. My cheeks, neck and chest all itched so much by the 4th day that I was taking benadryl around the clock. Everything looked like acne (not hives). I broke out so bad. I was not prescribed this for acne but for a cyst behind my ear but the doc thought it would also help my moderate acne. Since stopping I am still broke out everywhere (pics in my photos). About 2 months ago the itching started getting better. In all these months I have seen Dr after DR because my skin is a wreck. If interested you can read in previouse posts what I have been going through since taking this and different things I was told from doctors. I am happy to stay that I feel much better now even though my appearance is not improved. If you have any questions, let me know. Just be aware of the itchiness. I plan to follow your progress. Maybe had I continued to take it, I would have cleared up. Maybe the itching was from it drying out my skin. Maybe it was yeast over growth from the med. I don't think I will ever know. Best of luck to you.

I don't mean to discourage you but I didn't like tetracycline. It didn't do much at all.

Regimen
AM; Wash w/ Purpose Gentle. Moisturize with AHA Lotion from Neutrogena.
PM; Wash w/ Purpose Gentle. Aczone.

Status - Pretty clear. It's weird how I went from 5 pimples on my face at a time (bad ones) to now none. Of course, I have one small one here and there like once a week, but I'm a lot better now. Differin, Epiduo, Retin A, etc did nothing for me. Gentle is the key, I believe.

I was prescribed tetracycline and retin-a. Since I've had acne it worked better than anything I've ever used- I was just about completely clear 24/7. When I stopped taking it, however, my acne came back and I'm now resistent to antibiotics.
