Hey guys and girls, wavey.gif

This article has a good summary of what really works for red marks. I advise each one of you to read it for more information: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2...gmentation.html

“... as the moon lingers a moment over the bitterroots, before its descent into the invisible, my mind is filled with song. I find I am humming softly; not to the music, but something else; some place else; a place remembered; a field of grass where no one seemed to have been; except a deer; and the memory is strengthened by the feeling of you, dancing in my awkward arms.”

I know that Refinity Rejuvenating Lotion - 15% has good reviews mostly. On Amazon it has 5 stars (Not many reviews though). Link:

Here are some other reviews:

Hope that helps a bit!

No, it's pretty up there. Have you tried any other treatments mentioned in the article?

I am not sure about AHA Enhanced Lotion, but why don't you start with cheaper methods such as diluted ACV?

Depending on how bad your red marks are, maybe alternate a couple peels every two/three weeks with ACV.

I've got some red marks that range from 3 months to about 9 months old. I have had 2 peels done at my salon in that time, but have sprouted some new acne in between, hence the newer marks. Doing an at-home would probably save me a lot of money. But I am a little scared of doing an at-home peel because I haven't tried it before. Is there a product you recommend?

And what do you think of that MaMa lotion? I just started using the samples since last week, putting it on every other night. I also got a sample of the Green Cream, but haven't tried it yet. I want to try out the MaMa for a while and see how I like it.

Hi Dogluver, wavey.gif

If you are interested in doing peels yourself, I recommend a mild/moderate TCA peel. Here is a great site with directions on how to do a peel; also, a lot of members here have purchased from them so their products are legit: http://www.platinumskincare.com/product_im...ions/20tca.html

(Please do not confuse doing a TCA cross with a TCA peel when reading this site. They are different procedures with different risks)

As far as the MaMa lotion, I have been dying to try it for some time now. I just purchased it not too long ago, but it was a gift for my aunt who lives overseas. I wanted to keep it so bad! eusa_shifty.gif

As a result, I can't personally tell you what I think about it. I do know that a lot of people swear by it from reading their posts here. You might want to do a search for "MaMa lotion" in our forum in order to read some of the replies.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for your tips! I am a little scared to do an at home peel like the one mentioned on the site. I've read some forums about GA peels, where you put on a solution and let is sit on the face for about 3-5 minutes and rinse off. I think I might be more comfortable with something like that.

I've read mixed reactions on the MaMa lotion. It's only been a week so far, and I don't have much of an opinion on it. No bad reaction so far so that's good. I guess it's a little early to expect results. So I'm just going to stick with it for a whle.

Thanks for that article! The proportions for the ACV mixture confused me. Two parts water to two parts vinegar is synonymous with a half & half mixture, right? It just seemed odd that it was phrased that way.

Hmm, I've always heard that you use two parts water and one part ACV, maybe it's a typo? Then again, I suppose you could do it like that. When I was using ACV I didn't even dilute it with water and it didn't hurt my skin any.

Right. I would start with half and half and see how your skin reacts--or lower the amount of ACV if you have sensitive skin. Then you can gradually make it a bit more acidic if your skin can handle it.

I have been using two parts ACV and one part water for almost a year.

Hello

i am having 2-3 years old red marks and the are the same as they were 3 years ago.
Reason: acne comes on coming on the same mark( or a big red SCAR i should call). My whole right cheek is full of it. The most irritating thing is that the acne lasts for 3-4 months . Sometimes i feel that it is not the mark but the same acne settled on the skin. I have taken all types of medicines ( zinc based etc etc). The acne goes while i take them but as soon as i stop them , they reappear and that too stronger and denser that before.

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. PLEASE HELP!! wacko.gif

Hi Nicol! biggrin.gif

I am not sure about all of the medications you have tried, but the key in your case seems to be getting rid of acne and preventing it from coming back. Depending on your severity a variety of medications are available, other than the zinc-based ones you have tried. The list below displays some popular choices:

* Benzoyl peroxide, such as Benoxyl, Benzac, and Clearasil (Dan's BP falls in this category).
* Salicylic acid, such as Clearasil, Propa pH, and Stri-Dex.
* Topical and oral antibiotics, such as clindamycin (Cleocin, for example), sodium sulfacetamide (Novacet), erythromycin (E-Mycin, for example), and tetracycline (Achromycin, for example).
* Topical retinoid medications, such as tretinoin (Retin-A), adapalene (Differin), and tazarotene (Tazorac).
* Azelaic acid, such as Azelex, a topical cream.
* Isotretinoin, an oral retinoid.
* Low-dose birth control pills that contain estrogen (such as Estrostep Fe or Ortho Tri-Cyclen), which work well on moderate acne in women and for premenstrual flare-ups. Estrogen softens the effects of testosterone by lowering oil production.
* Corticosteroids, such as prednisone or dexamethasone, which doctors rarely prescribe to treat very severe acne. Corticosteroids lower testosterone production. These medications are taken only for short periods because long-term use can cause significant side effects.

If your acne is severe, you may want to consult with your dermatologist about trying Accutane. For many acne sufferers, applying topicals becomes a life long task to prevent acne since like you said, stopping medication usually means that the acne will come back.

When your acne is under control, your red marks should subside substantially over time. To make the process faster, you can try some of the suggestions in that link above.

Good luck to you, Nicol!

-Ariana
