malia:

i think taking 4 300 mg pantehine pills a day is ok, in fact im probably gonna start doing that myself. I don't remember where i saw that, but i saw it somewhere. I think it said 6-8 grams, so its a broad approximation.

As far as gamers reg, i'm afraid i might have to stop using the cream and/or toner because not only am i not getting clear still, but i am still breaking out.

I am sooooo frustrated because i am taking a lot of good healthy acne fighting vitamins. Ive been on some longer than others, so i still need to give them time, but damn im pissed.

I bought some epsom salt tonight and i had my first bath. It was nice, very relaxing. I washed my face with it as well. I think im gonna start washing my face with it at night once a day.

Let me know how the niacin is, i might want to get some. But the whole flushing, red faced thing scares me. let me know if you break out, etc. I read online that a (random) girl took too much and she developed a huge rash over her body, which went away over time, but still scary. So, take the niacin in its recoommended dosage and dont over do it.

Was anyone here on pantothenic acid before switching to pantethine ? I am, but I was planning on slowly introducing the pantethine to my body, so build up the dosage instead of taking 4 pills a day immediately.
But there's no documentation on how to 'convert' the pantethine <> pantothenic acid dosages, other than some quotes of, I believe it was a diet website?

Well, thats like saying to start slowly with pantotheic acid when people START with 10 grams a day.

Although there are no studies between pantethine and acne, pantethine itslef has been studied vigorously for other ailments and diseases. Thus, the recommended doses for certain things (high cholesterol, high triglycerides) call for a certain amount anyway, which i believe is 900 mg a day, and I read that you can take more. In my opinion, you could take 5 a day and everything would be fine.

I'm confused as to what kind of pantethine to take.

A bottle of puritan's pride pantethine lists the ingredient as "Pantothenic Acid (as Pantethine)".

A bottle of swanson's pantethine lists it as "Pantesin Pantethine (Coenzyme A)

Are these the same things?

I've been waiting to post until I had something to say.....anyway, I've been takin B-5 for about 3wks (over 2 years ago I took about 5 Grams per day for a month or two and my acne cleared all up But then I started trying to concieve and didn't want to take any chances)

Now that I am finished Breast feeding I started 5 grams again, but then I read about Pantethine and have been taking that for the last week. So far there has been no complications from switching from b-5 to pantethine (900mg). My face looks great. No new break outs after the initial breakout beginning the first week of taking the b-5. I can tell my skin is much dryer and my lips are a tad dryer, I've been needing to use carmex on them. My hands need lotion too.

Between Pantethine and Dan's BP GEL I look and feel great!! I think this is really promising!!

Thanks for the post.

Since you were taking b-5 and were clear, keep us updated as to whether you stay clear on the pantethine. I dunno how easy it will be to tell if its that or the bp gel though.

d-calcium is a derivate of pantothenic acid. All pantothenic acid you will ever see will probably say d-calcium next to it.

Hi Malia, I switched from 5 grams of b-5 to Pantethine one week ago today. I can't tell the difference, only less pills to take. I was taking 10 pills and now I'm only taking 3 small soft gels Pantethine.

I'm using the NOW brand of Pantethine. It cost 22.49 (usd) at my local healthfood store. No new breakouts!! I know it's working because I've got to use Carmex on my lips and have a little bit dryer hands. I'm still not completely oil free on my face, but I can tell it's much less and my face is clear.

So far so good. I'm really happy about this prospect!!

(to be fair I've always been on BP, for the last 15 yrs and it's always helped my face, but I've never been clear always about 3 or more spots in one day. I don't follow Dan's routine. But I do believe in his BP Gel. I don't eat very well, I have hormonal acne and I only wash my face when I take a shower, which is every two days because the ends of my hair tend to be dry! And I switched from Neutrogena's BP to Dan's 3 days ago! I only put it on at night before I go to bed.)

pantethine is not taken with B complex.....you can if you want to, but youre only taking 600-900 mg of it....you can always supplement it with a multivitamin if youd like...

It's interesting to see if you guys get results. I know about the whole b5 thing but that megadosing is crazy and bad for your body one way or another. Taking but a few pills of this should not be toxic. Although combining this with loads of other pills is stil a bit risky. If you guys see results maybe i'll try this in the summer....

I don't mean to offend or anything, but could you possibly make any less argued statements? At least express it in such a way that it's clear it's yóur opinion.

Anyway, my swanson pantethine arrived today, 'softgels' are kinda... weird smile.gif. I'll keep you updated on the progress.
