non alcohol based clindamycin?

Hi everyone,

Over the last 4 months i've been on a harsh alcohol based clindamycin which has severly dried out my skin. I'm only 23 and i'm starting to see fine lines

I was wondering if its possible to get clindamycin which isn't alcohol based?

HELP, blackheads/whiteheads a disaster waiting to happen

So i've been clear of cystic acne for a 3 of months, hooray, and in the last month i haven't had a single pimple to my utter amazement and gratitude!
But recently i also had to stop using differin, as i am trying out retinaldehyde for the scars. Though i've haven't been deligent with the retin A , ussually only putting it on my scars and not my entire face.

There are blackheads and white heads all in the area where pimples used to appear, I think the differin was keeping them at bay but now they are everywhere and i'm affraid that they are all going to explode into cystic pimples like landmines waiting for you to rub them the wrong way.

What do i do? what do i doooo? Its taken all my will not to pick them out, all of it. But i'm still itching to..... Do you guys thing i should just pick them all out? Do you think that would be better than letting them turn into cysts?

I'll try to be more deligent with the Retin A, though i heard it could cause pimples? If not i may go back on differin... But till they begin working is there anything you can reckomend?

Is salycilic acid useable with retin A? i know you're not supposed to tuse it with diffferin

I couple of days ago on the news i saw this story, about a girl in the UK who was a model, but her X-boyfriend highered someone to throw acid in her face.

‘Now, though, I realise my life before was so superficial. I used to refuse to go out if I had a spot on my face. Now I wish a spot was all I had to worry about. There are people who point and stare. One man even knocked my sun hat off and laughed at me. Those times hurt, but I won’t let them get me down. I’d like to be able to have a husband and family one day. I can’t live a life of regret.’

My heart breaks for this girl. Its a good reminder that we have to be gratefull for what we have right, i try to tell myself that every time i look in the mirror. Its helps me to see the bigger picture, just as she did right

I think the ambulance drivers deserve to go to jail for waiting an hour to treat her, and the doctors who took an hour to give them the all clear too.

Treating my cheek scar with retin-A

Today is the first day I use Retin-Aldehyde to treat my new and still healing cheek scar, i intend to post pics and log the result.

But firstly some background:
So its been for months since i idiotically failed to act and get a cortison injection when i had the largest cyst I have ever had in my life on my cheek. It has left a terrible scar. I'm a sort of a newbie when it comes to acne, i never had it as a teenager, so this has been emotionally traumatic to have this gapping hole on my once perfect face. I've cried alot about it untill yesterday i heard about that girl in the UK who got acid thrown at her face, my heart went out to her, and i realised it can be worse, so far severly worse.

So I will not despair, instead i will be pro-active and belief that my skin will go back to normal, i'm going to use this as an opportunity to log it for all those with bad scarring to see how my scar turns out. I will post all that i have tried with this scar along with weekly photos.

Firstly About this scar:
This scar is 4 months old
it is made up of two scars, one short and deeper, one shallower but longer
it is angry and red, but used to be angrier and purple
it started of as a raised keloid but is now and atrophic indented
it's a box car scar but its probably wide enough to be a rolling scar.
it's right in the centre of my cheek

After seeing 3 different dermatologists here is the treatements I have been using the last 4 months:
differin every night, a third generation retnoid supposed to promote collagen growth.
bio-oil, a topical product containing vitamin E and A
Zinc supplements

New treatement:
Stopping the differin and using pure Retin A every night.

Future treatement:
After 2-3 months of Retin-A the scar will be a 6 month old mature scar, and so if i don't see much improvement i am going either. Lazer the scar, not with fraxel, but with a heat lazer. And/or derma roll, needle and use fillers.

Finally to all my fellow acne scar sufferers, Do not despair, one must live with a fighting spirit because life is a struggle. Have hope, where there is a will there is a way, and remember it can always be worse.

Sunspots due to Doxy and minocycline?

hi guys,

So yesterday i had a look at my nose and a sun spot had appeared there overnight. Now i make it a point to never go out in the sun, i even tried to avoid walking outside during the day time and always cover up.

But every time i go on tetracyclines for a long period of time this seems to happen. This happened to me before on minocycline and i had to lazer the freckle off my nose but that entailed stopping the antiobiotics and the pimples came back. Now is seems i have to do it all over again!

It seems i'm fighting a war on two fronts.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?! Has anyone else had this? or is my skin just particularly freakish?
