Hello all

I am taking a hair supplement to combat the Accutane-induced hairloss.
The supplement contains:

MSM............250mg
L-Cysteine...200mg
Vitamin B6...50mg
Vitamin B5...50mg
Zinc.............10mg
Iron.............3mg
Biotin...........100mcg
Vitamin B12..50mcg

What I am worried about is the B12 content. B12 is known to cause skin problems.
Wikipedia says:
Dermatologic: Itching, rash, transitory exanthema, and urticaria have been reported. Vitamin B12 (20 micrograms/day) and pyridoxine (80mg/day) has been associated with cases of rosacea fulminans, characterized by intense erythema with nodules, papules, and pustules. Symptoms may persist for up to 4 months after the supplement is stopped, and may require treatment with systemic corticosteroids and topical therapy.

The supplemnt contains 50mcg of B12 and 50mg of Pirydoxine (Vitamin B6).
Most B12-caused Acne reports I've found on the web are when using large amounts (300mcg and more) usually injected. I am not sure how seriously I should be taking what Wikipedia says, but I jreally want to be on the safe side.

Thanks for any info!

EDIT: I searched the web for pyridoxine and B12 together and found the same report in other places.
I think I should be careful here. Maybe I should buy another hair supplement. Please share any information anyway, that can't be bad!

Hello all
I am 2 months into my 40mg Accutane course and am having side effects such as lots of Dandruff (doesn't seem to react to anti-dandruff shampoo, probably since it's dryness-induced), flaky skin and extremely chapped lips.

These effects are due to dryness so I was wondering if drinking large amounts of water over the day would significantly help?

Thanks for any input!

Hello all

Some background:
I have had moderate and occasionally cystic acne for a long time, since my teen age. 18 now. Topicals do barely anything for me. Accutane worked well for about 1.5 years, then all came back to normal. I am on another course now, also taking Zinc 100mg/day. No dairy, low sugar, low saturated fats, whole bread diet. Diet changes do not seem to have much effect, nor the Zinc.

First of all, do not say that acne is not related to orgasm. Everyone is different.
I have always read about the controversial acne/orgasm link. After some time, I have managed to completely stop masturbation (male-female activity once in a while). I can guarantee that for me, orgasm is practically the only thing breaking me out.
While it seems that I have found my cure, there is a problem. After a long time of no-masturbation, the semen build up has to be expelled by the body, which is expressed as wet dreams. If my skin is relatively clear, and I have a wet dream (say on day 1), I will seriously break out during days 3 and 4.

Orgasm causes fluctuations and spikes in different hormone levels.
DIM (Diindolylmethane) 100mg per day didn't do much- which suggests that Estrogens are probably not what's causing my problems. All that is left are the Androgens- mainly Testosterone.
I am not sure if it is a rise in Testosterone after orgasm or a rise in the more bioactive DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) that causes the breakouts.

To conclude, my plan is to find something that will either reduce Testosterone activity or block DHT, and take it only during the 2-3 days after I experience an orgasm, since their side effects scare me away from taking them daily (as with anything that alters the hormonal system).

Please, share your opinions about my theory. I'll be glad if anyone could suggest anything that might help.

Thanks!

Hello
Recently I've seen many resources saying that picking is very bad ans should not be done.
From now on, I just leave my (inflamed) whiteheads on their own, but I've noticed that doing so, they tend to surface but stay there for quite some time. I tried simply pulling one of them out, but that seemed to leave a hole, even more than when I just pick a whitehead (but it didn't get inflamed/red as when picking).
If I were to simply forget about that whitehead, will it just dry out and fall off?

Thanks!

Hello all
Say I have a red whitehead that I've popped since it was too visible. How should I go about treating it to reduce the inflammation (redness), making it go away faster and making sure that it doesn't leave a mark for a long time after I've popped it?
Thanks in advacne.
