Alright, today, my derm had my lab results at my appointment. (usually I just get a phone call that everything is okay) I saw that what the results said (they are elevated from my normal non-isotretinoin levels) so just wondering if anyone knows what the limits are during treatment? At what point do they cut you off?

I've been having some heartburn for a little while at night, usually setting in about 1-2 hours after taking my evening pill. I already called the derm office and was told that I could take tums for a week and if that suffices in helping the situation that I'm probably not causing any real esophogeal damage. But if it doesn't help then I'll likely have to stop my course. I would be sooo sad since I'm starting to see some results (I'm on day 42). Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you have had this happen and been able to continue to course. TIA!!

so i was supposed to start accutane today. however i just got a call from the derm office and "something" happened when they tried to enter my labs from april so my registration is effective may 6th instead of april. now i can't start tane until june. i'm wondering if this is a sign that i shouldn't put this toxic drug into my body. i have such a healthy lifestyle and this is a total contradiction to everything that i do to begin with. i go to yoga a minimum of 4 days a week, pilates and running. i work out 5-6 days/week and don't eat any processed foods, limited meat and dairy. this was such a struggle to make the initial decision to move forward with this that i think i might not do it after all...

Since there seems to be such a young crowd over here, I thought I'd like to see who here is over 25 and what kind of results they're getting.
I'm 28 and this is my 2nd post on acne.org. (first was in intros) I'm starting accutane on May 7th to hopefully end this battle.

Hi all. I've been looking at this website for years, but never joined up. I've had acne for the last 18 years. I can't believe it. I've tried erythromycin, minocyclin, differin, retin-a, clindamycin and evoclin, tazorac, nature's cure, all kinds of bp and sa products and nothing has gotten me clear. I almost had a clear face when on the taz/ evoclin, but remember being really frustrated before my wedding at the condition of my skin. I went to a new derm who suggested accutane and am considering it, as after being pregnant and the birth of my child my skin has absolutely exploded. Only one side of my face was ever really a horrible problem, now both sides are. I used to be able to cover up w/ makeup, now that's not working. I don't like to look in the mirror anymore and even suggested to dh that we cover the mirrors in our house w/ paper bags (half-jokingly). It's not a diet/ exercise thing as I work out 4-5 days/ week and eat non-processed and non-refined whole foods. My DH and I are actually a bit obsessive over living a very healthy lifestyle. It's also not hereditary as both of my parents, all of my aunts, uncles and cousins have very clear skin. The last straw was when my cousin left an unopened bottle of clearasil in my bathroom, surely as a "helpful hint".
Uuuugh. I'm glad that I got all of this out- I don't have too many people I can talk to about this. I'm lucky I have a very loving husband and a beautiful, healthy child. I just don't think I can wait any longer to "outgrow" this phase of my life. |
