Well tommorow I leave for a music festival and I will be camping for 4 nights. I'm wondering whether to bring my anti-biotics, face wash, mousturizer, zineryt (topical anti-biotic) and differin and keep up my regimen.

Which is.. Morning: Take anti-biotic, wash, apply zineryt and then moisturize. Night: Wash and apply differin.

Or.. leave it all behind and forget about the regimen for the days that I'm there?

What do you think? I think my skin could do with a break.. its been on this regimen for about 5 months now. Will a 4 day break cause any major breakouts and ruin all the progress I have made?

Has anyone been in a similar situation and could offer advice?

Thanks

Currently Im on differin and another topical called Zineryt. I dunno what I should do when I go to the gym. If I dont wash before working out my moisturizer and zineryt mix will end up sweating off all over my face probably, but if I dont wash aferward Im just going to be leaving all that sweat lying on my face.

I guess I could handle patting my face dry while I work out and then washing my face afterwards. Just don't want to wash my face 3x a day. Think I should reapply moisture after washing after workout?

What do you people on the DK regimen do? Or a similar regimen to mine?

Well yesterday I went to see the doctor and I was prescribed Differin 0.1% and Zineryt (erythromycin) as well as 300mg of Tetracycline.

I was told to apply the Zineryt morning and night and the differin at night only. The leaflet that came with differin however said that if any other topical acne medication is being used then it should be used in the morning and differin at night.

Zineryt leaflet stresses that it should be applied twice a day to see best results.

What should I do? If I were to apply both, in what order should I apply?

Well I went to see the doctor today for my moderate acne (mild for 3 previous years). He took a quick look I my face, I told him the reason I came was because recently I have been getting a lot of painful spots.

No questions asked really and he prescribed me 3 things.

  • Zineryt (A zinc complex containing Erythromycin applied morning and night)
  • Adapalene 0.1% Gel. (More known as differin I believe applied once a day)
  • Lymecycline (300mg tetracycline capsule taken once daily)

So thats a topical retinoid (Adapalene) a topical anti-biotic (Erythromycin in the Zineryt) and an oral anti-biotic (300mg of tetracycline is Lymecycline)

Is there a chance taking all these things at once could be counter-productive?

And in what order should I be applying these? Taking in mind I am going to be using a cleanser (Australian Bodycare Cleanser with tea tree - I have heard its gentle to skin). And moisturizing with an oil free moisturizer.

So.. should I take all 3 and see how it goes? Has anyone had experience with any of these meds?

Thanks

So.. for the past 3 weeks I have used only water to wash my face. I would moisturize in the morning sometimes if my skin was dry. Also visited the steam room about twice a week. I also occasionally used sudocrem for spots that would bleed after I messed with them, which I didn't do a lot.

Anyway the main point is, will it matter what I do to my face if my diet is 100%? Ok so my diet wasn't 100% but it was a great deal better than usual, here were the steps I took.

  • Avoid Dairy, butter and pro-biotic yoghurt in moderation.
  • Cut out junk food. I have been pretty good with this.
  • Eat low GI wholegrain brown bread instead of regular.
  • Multivitamin with Zinc, B vitamins and others.
  • 10ml of cod liver oil taken every day before bed.
  • Normally a 1000mg vitamin C drink.
  • Apple cider vinegar 10ml, 3 times daily.

I still eat a lot of fruit, and I also go the gym to weight train 2 or 3 times a week. Only thing I maybe shouldn't have taken is whey protein supplement? However I don't think this does anything bad for me, I remember distinctly a week where I was completely clear (really rare for me) and it was a week or so after starting to take whey and I was taking it at the time. Things however went downhill from there so I decided this diet thing.

Zero difference to my face, apart from it worsening. I don't blame the diet for making it worse, that happened before anyway. But things certainly aren't getting any better.

Over the years I have watched my acne get worse and worse, any improvement will be very short term, like a week or two at most. On the whole it has been getting worse for the best of a year.

Am I coming up with worse and worse regimens? I doubt it, I wish I could figure out why this decline in my skin condition is quite gradual but so definite. That must be the source sad.gif?

Rabble rabble. Anyway got a doctor appointment, I'm still keen to diet etc even though any prescriptions will not be considered "holistic" (dont hate me tongue.gif).

So... any holistic friendly prescriptions I can speak with my doctor about?

Thanks if you read all that^

Edit: Started to think after I made this thread. I have been getting hair growing on my face probably for a about 2 years now. Really slowly at first I only shaved like once a month, and very slowly growing faster. To the point I shave about once a week now, but still no stubble, all my hairs are soft. I am now starting to get very few bits of harder hair dotted about, but still soft hair sloooowly growing on my face.

Coudl facial hair growth and hormones most likely be the cuplrit? Any ideas?
