Almost 2 weeks post tane

Pictures say thousand words...Since I can't upload anymore picture, here are the links to my post-tane pics without makeup...

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f238/win...sttaneweek2.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f238/win...eweek2right.jpg

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f238/win...neweek2left.jpg

so far, the side effects are slowly fading away...within 3--4 days after the last pill, my nose was no longer feeling super dry or tight, when I blow my nose, no more bloody stuff..and my nose hasn't bleed since then...I like that very much!!!~~I also notice my hair getting softer and less damaged and dry too, I am very happy, it no longer feels like dry grass anymore..

the only thing really bothers me is I still have very sore heel sometimes when I stand up and walk after sitting for a couple hours...I hope that problem will fade soon too..

02/21/2008 One and a half month post-tane

It feels awsome not to worry about acne anymore. My friends used to have less pimple than me are still struggling with it, and I am already out of it..God knows when was the last time I squeeze a pimple out, I don't miss those days...when I rest my chin on my palm, my finger can no longer feel the little bumps on my face anymore. All I can feel is smooth skin, I am very happy!

Here are some updates, lips are still dry, but not as dry as they used to..face still dry...hair no longer dry though...my hair actually got back to normal quite quickly, 3 weeks I would say...my hair starts to get oily faster, and my hair is back to silky, not dry like grass anymore...and face still stay clear...awsome!!!!!!!! I love the result...haha..

here are some links to the current me..I took the pictures close to the window with natural sun light, it might be a little bit bright...anyway, I still have some scars and little redness, but definitely fading slowly..

Half Year After Accutane

Hello everyone, it has been 7 months after I finished my course. I know a lot of people want to know if accutane result still lasts after the course ends, and here are my experiences.

I can not believe I started Accutane almost a year ago, time flies! I am glad that I got on this course. Yes, the oil comes back on my face, when I wake up in the morning, there are oil around my t-zone and u-zone. My face is not 100% clear, but 98.5% of the time I am completely clear, so I am happy about that.

I still get little blackheads or whiteheads here and there on my face sometimes when I'm lazy on the skincare routine, but having oil back to my face does not make my face break out like I used to again. These days, only in some rare case, I'd have a papule or pustule, but never cyst. My derm told me just keep on using Retin A once in a while to keep my skin clear. I would use Retin A Micro once every few days or whenever I feel like. If I am lazy on the skincare routine(not very good at cleansing my face), I can start to feel some little bumps on the skin. I'd use Retin A for a couple night, all the little bumps would disappear very quickly within 2 days. I am very happy by how easy it is to manage my skin these days.

BTW, when I was on the accutane, the red marks almost never fades. When the course ended, the marks fades a lot faster. Now you can hardly tell I used to have a lot of acnes, and have them for years.

I hope my experience help!

You're welcome! I hope this post give confidence to some people who worry about if acne would come back after tane. Most of the people get lazy on updating the log after their skin become clear. When your skin is clear, you have more confidence and wanna do more things out there.. I hope the accutane works for you, and you can come to this forum less and less!

One and Half Year Later

Hello friends,

I can't believe it has been 2 years since the first day I took accutane!!! One of the side effect seems to stay with me is the dry lips.. I don't really mind that much though.. My face has stayed clear most of the time. (still some tiny whitehead or blackhead here and there). So please don't give up or get discourage by other people's negative experience in this forum.. Everyone is different, being depressed and worried are definitely not going to help you! Most of the people I know who took accutane stayed clear for many many years (they took accutane when they were young, and their age are around 20--40, so I can't they stay clear the rest of their lives..whistling.gifP). Most of the people I know are too busy with life without acne after accutane to be on the forum, so it seems like there are more negative experiences here, but actually, majority of the people have positive outcomes!

As right now, I'm using Dan's cleanser, moisturizer and AHA(once or twice every 2 weeks) to keep my face clear. I use neutrogena one step gentle cleanser to remove makeup or sunblocks..they are all very gentle and not irritating.. I also recommend use filtered water to wash your face if you can, I notice my skin improve a lot, less chance to have pimples..(hard water has a lot of heavy metals and chemicals in it, could also irritate your skin, and it is not very expensive to buy filtered showerhead from amazon, invest in one if you can)

You will have good result too! I did have red marks! They were with me the whole course, started to fade one month after I finished the course. It has been one and half year ago, so my red marks are completely gone long time ago...So don't worry! Those red marks do seem to never fade when u are on accutane, but they WILL fade after u finish the course!

2 Years Later

Oh man, I can't believe it has been 2 years since the first day I took Accutane! My face remains clear 98% of the time since I got off the course. I am very happy with the result, it still feels unreal sometimes to have clear skin and not have to worry about pimples anymore.

Since I said my face is 98% of the time clear, so I still have tiny bit of pimple problems here and there. I believe post-tane skincare routine is also very important to keep your face clear. I have been using Retin-A Micro and Acne.org AHA in the past year, my face was more clear than the 1st year after I got off tane.

Here is a picture of me without any makeup on, I took it around a week ago..(early August). (see attached photo 1)

I would recommend using retinol and AHA regularly to keep your pore unclogged, retinol also helps your skin less oily. I use retin-A Micro once every 10 days, and AHA in between to replace my night cream. (e.g. AHA on the 5th day, and retin-A Micro on the 10th day, then AHA on the 15th day)...I don't actually count the day, I just use it whenever I feel like it has been a while...and I realize this way really helps my skin to remain clear...my skincare routine is simple...

I use:

Cleanser: Neutrogena one step gentle cleanser, in the morning and evening, to remove makeup or sunblock.. it doesn't break me out.. I do use makeup quite often, this cleanser does a good job on removing face makeup ( foundation, blush, highlights)

Moisturizer (day & night): acne.org moisturizer

sunblock: mineral sunblock (peter thomas roth or colorescinece)

treatment: Retin-A Micro and AHA

I don't use any serum, any mask, any toner at all...I do use eyecream though. I also use oil absorbing sheets to absorb exceeding oil on my face before I go to bed...(if the moisturizer is too rich)
