I have been using all sorts of antibio pills for 8 years and I have gotten only worse since then. I've tried mino-doxy-tetra cyclines, dicloxacillin (but i believe i may have taken it wrong), and about 3 or 4 other types. I'm taking doxy right now only because I know for a fact I break out when I'm not on an antibiotic. In August, I had a severe set of pimples all around my scalp and this was during a time in which I took no antibiotics. Now, I'm using Doxy 2x a day and the scalp area is much more tame but it NEVER stayed clear (been breaking out on the scalp since Oct 2000 and everytime I get off a medication, my head breaks out like crazy). My scalp area is very oily so I probably might plan to topically medicate that area as well. Also, the regular acne pus breakouts on not just the scalp but also the face are much more under control WHILE on some sort of med. It never cleared up but I can definitely say that all it does is keep my pus breakouts under more control, not COMPLTE control. In other words, no matter what med I'm on, I still have some sort of break-out in some spot. Is it really safe to STILL be taking antibiotics after all this time? I'm assuming I'm building a resistance to these pieces of crap and I'm really getting tired of using them.
One other question: There was this one pill I used back in 2003. The derm that prescribed it said it would 'reverse the cells' resistance to antibiotics'. He prescribed me 20 pills to use in 10 days. I don't believe the reversing cell resistance worked since I remember going back on minocycline afterward and STILL break out but I do remember absolutely NEVER breaking out while on this med even while intaking a lot of dairy (mainly in the form of cheese). THe derm doesn't work anymore so I have no contact info to get into my chart's history and I'd like to ask you guys if you have any idea what med I'm talking about. I really can't remember the name but I'm sure it's nothing I've seen among these forums. Thanks in advance for any replies.

So I've been doing some reading on essential oils and it seems that Rosewood (for less sebum production), Lavender (antibacterial properties), and Tea Tree (similar to lavender) oils are what I need since I have ridiculous oil production, various and recurring inflammations (despite being on doxycycline), and whatnot. I also read that its best to dilute them in a carrier oil such as grapeseed.
Is it recommended to mix rosewood, lavender, tea tree, and grapeseed oils all in one? Would this be too much for my skin to handle? Any opinions or responses of some sort would be great. Thanks.

hey everyone. i've been switching through different regimens for the past year because everything i tried has been giving me bad-minimally good results. i feel like what i'm doing wrong is not properly lathering so i was wondering any tips on how to lather well and if anyone could find the time the post a video of them lathering on youtube or something because i feel like i've been washing my face wrong for the past 8 years.
i'm now using neutrogena rapid-clear oil eliminating foaming cleanser. i started it yesterday in hopes of reducing my oily skin. i've read some pretty good reviews on it and i'm willing to switch out of dan's wash to see some results in oil production change. before you begin to answer, i'll give an explanation of how i lather. i use about 1 to 1 and half inches of face wash (probably too much?). wet it a little bit (i have no clue how to evenly distribute face wash and water so the amount of water varies), then rub it until it's at least in some sort of foam that's similar to those liquid hand soaps that don't get as sudsy as foaming hand soaps. what exactly is a proper lather?

so yea i've read that jojoba oil resembles that of human sebum. i would really like to know where i can get some in any form, though preferably in a moisturizer as i have massively oily skin. also, would there be any moisturizers you guys would recommend. thanks to all who respond.
i currently have been using neutrogena oily/combination moisturizer but it doesn't do a damn thing but i don't know what else to use. |
