So I finished a six month course of accutane in January. Well it went well and it cleared up my skin. I still have to wear make-up everyday because of the awful red marks, but they're starting to fade. Anyway, I haven't broken out really, but I do get these clogged pores and I can get a small amount of pus out of them (gross, I know). They leave a small red mark which frustrates me beyond belief. I just feel like I am never going to be able to go without makeup. I am hoping this isn't a sign of things to come-that I'll start breaking out all over again. My acne was mild/moderate before so I am hoping that if any acne does come back it will be really mild. So my question. Do you think I should start the regime? My derm gave me some expensive cleanser/gel/moisturizer but it's still making me quite dry. Any success stories with the regime post-accutane? Thanks!

I've been on Sotret since July. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up my perscription they gave me Claravis. I asked if this was alright, and the pharmacist just shrugged it off and said it was fine. I called my derm and she said that I shouldn't notice a difference, but if I had any problems to call her. So far I've been fine, I got one new spot, but I haven't been consistently clear throughout my course anyway. Has anybody else switched throughout their course? Did you have any more side effects/new breakouts? Thanks!

Hey all,

I have a question...and I am sure the answer is pretty obvious, but I'd just like some input! I am just finishing up my third month on accutane for mild, but super persistent acne. Anyway, My skin has been breaking out horribly for my entire course. Well, others would beg to differ. I see an improvement in overall texture and I don't have any pores really...which is great...but I still break out pretty heavily along my jawline and chin. Ok so anyway, I was just bumped up from 60 mg to 80 mg b.c my derm said I was still producing a fair amount of oil (I honestly don't feel terribly dry). I am hoping I see a difference soon. So finally to my question...I don't really exercise (although I used to be an avid swimmer), I don't drink a lot of water ( I know, I know), and I am a TERRIBLE eater. I mean, I am the fast food queen. Fast food has never affected my weight so I guess I'm just lazy and don't think about the terrible habit too often. Well I've been reading about how acne can be affected by diet (and that the research is still inconclusive). Even if my derm says that eating greasy foods doesn't cause acne, I have a feeling my extreme case could warrant some skin problems. What do you think? Oh and by the way...I am currently chugging a huge bottle of water and am going to make a nice green salad for dinner...baby steps smile.gif

Thanks so much -Laura

Hey everyone,

So I am going on my fourth month (day 89). I am finally on a dosage (60 mg) that is drying me out a lot. Some of my face is so clear, not one pore or blackhead. But other spots are still breaking out and turn into scabs pretty quickly. The skin looks horrible and I am so anxious that I pick/pop everything. Well the skin is so thin that it tears (kind of like when skin peels from a sunburn). Now those spots look HORRIBLE. Has anyone had this happen to them (obviously I am doing it to myself)?? I am at my wits end with this drug and just want it to kick in already. Thx

Hey All,

I am losing a bit of hair...I am going into my fourth month on Accutane. My dr. said not to worry, that it would all grow back and to eat foods high in fat to prevent anymore hair loss. I have really thick hair so I am not terribly worried but it's just annoying. Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, what are you doing to prevent any further hairloss? Thanks!!
