Does spironolactone only work on cystic acne, or all types? Is your acne only considered hormonal if its cystic and you get it on chin/jawline? I do not have cystic acne and I get it randomly in all areas of my face, does that mean spiro will not work for me? If spiro worked for you please reply with what kind of acne you have.

If you don't mind telling, I am interested in knowing how the spiro dosage people are prescribed relates to their body weight. My doc will only prescribe me 75 mg and I weigh almost 135 pounds. I was originally on 50 mg and after 2 months asked to be bumped up to 100 mg because that seems like what most people are prescribed who get successful results. She said she will never prescribe me 100 mg because I don't weigh enough and it would make me dizzy, pass out, etc. What she didn't know is I had already tried taking 100 mg for a week or two and I was fine. She didn't ask me my body weight though so maybe she is just assuming I weigh less than I really do. Could you please tell me your weight and what your spiro dosage is? I am coming up on 3 months of taking the medication in a few weeks and if it is not working by then maybe I will have to see another dermatologist to prescribe me a higher dosage. (I have previously taken Bactrim, Doxycyline and Solodyn and the only thing that worked at keeping me 100% clear was the Bactrim which I took for about 3 years).

Does spironolactone only help get rid of the cystic type acne or other types as well? I do not have cystic acne, but get pimples randomly in all areas of my face (often on the chin though). I also seem to break out worse the week before my period. I took Bactrim for about 3 years and it completely cleared my face and I never broke out even before my period. When my prescription ran out the acne came back full force. I got on Bactrim again but it did not work as well as it had before. Since then I have also taken Doxycyline and Solodyn, but none of the medicines have kept me clear. I began taking 50mg spiro about a month and a half ago, and will probably increase to 100 mg in a few weeks. Do you think spiro will work for my acne? (Also I'm 23, i don't know if my acne would be considered adult at this point but I have had acne since puberty).
