Does anyone know if broccoli sprouts contain goitrogens?

I eat steamed broccoli all the time (apparently, steaming deactivates the goitrogens, but no one really knows for sure). I'm getting tired of steaming them though. I was thinking of adding broccoli sprouts to my smoothies.

So, does anyone know if they contain goitrogens?

I'd like your opinion on this one. We all know vegetables are sources of fat-soluble vitamins A,E, and K. Now, do you guys think it's necessary to drizzle that olive oil on your salad or have your veggies with some meat? Would the residual oils in the vegetables be enough or should we add more oil/fat to make sure we get those A,E, and K vitamins in our system?

So, when i'm juicing veggies, should i add some kind of oil to it?

Anyone try maca? If so, what are your thoughts on it? And where do you get your maca and which brands have you tried?

Low carb AND low fat diet.

My diet is kind of like the Candida and Paleo Diet. Just lean cut meats (organic/traditionally raised), fish (mostly sardines for low mercury), plenty of low-GI veggies, spices (cayenne, turmeric, cloves, etc), fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, etc). There's usually garlic, ginger, sea salt, and onions in my cooking.

I try to stay away from fruits and nuts (i haven't had any of either for weeks now). I avoid most nightshades too (especially tomatoes and potatoes). Occasionally, i'll have some rice or quinoa. Usually rice.

No dairy, no wheat/gluten, no soy, no flax, no eggs, no sugar, no preservatives, no corn, no fast food, no junk food, no cold cuts, no microwavable frozen foods, no caffeine, no cigarettes, no weed, no drugs, no alcohol, no yeast (beer, white vinegar, etc), no pickled foods, and no mushrooms.

I cook my meats with a grill (it's kind of like a foreman grill). Sometimes i use a little sesame seed oil (which is great for vitamin E) for pan frying chicken or turkey breasts with veggies, spices, herbs. I eat fish almost everyday. I grill them too. Occasionally, i'll use coconut oil to cook meats.

Every now and then, i'll drink a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with water sometime before dinner. I also take fish oil, vitamin d3+k2 combo,

My diet might sound bland, but it's not. I'm kind of a spice hound and i use plenty (i mean, a LOT) of it on my dishes. I use all kinds of spices and herbs. For my cayenne, i get the 90,000hu powder. Sometimes, i'll make tea with a slice of ginger and some cayenne.

I do stretching, anaerobic, and aerobic exercises. I believe one should incorporate all three forms of exercise into their routine. To detox, sometimes i'll use the sauna in my condo, and at other times i'll take an epsom salt bath. Anyway, i make sure i sweat like a pig everyday.

I'll only wash my face twice a day at most.

I only have 3 meals a day - each meal being meat and veggie - and i don't really eat a lot at each meal. I get full and satisfied pretty quickly. I thoroughly chew my food too. Basically, my caloric intake isn't much (i haven't been counting though).

My face isn't too dry or too oily anymore. It's pretty much normal now. I have zero zits on my face. My neck acne is clearing up. It's about 90% better than it was before i began this diet. It's looking better everyday. Now i have to deal with the scars.

After a month and a half (in April 2009), i'm going to start introducing the foods that i cut out (e.g. fruits, eggs, etc.) back into my diet one by one to see if i can handle them again. Dairy and soy will probably be the last things i will try to re-introduce back into my diet since i react very badly to them. I'll eventually add in the alcohol too.
