Hi All,
I have extremely sensitive skin and in a search for a new concealor free of parabens and isopropyl myristate. Anyone have any suggestions? I've been looking into mineral make up but want to hear suggestions first before I try. I'm also concerned with the potential of being allergic to bismuth, as I've never tried mineral make up before. Suggestions are welcome and appreciated! Thanks!

I really don’t know what’s going on. I’ve been icing my pimples (especially the ones that are forming) and then using Retin A cream at night.
Well, I had a cluster of four/five papules that surfaced around the week of August 11, 2009. I remember because it was my boyfriend’s birthday. I was thinking of getting a cortisone shot the following Friday at my derm appointment in time for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner that Saturday. I popped one of the Vesuvian-sized pimples that night, and by Saturday the pimple had pretty much healed.. Stupid me- I used Benzoyl Peroxide (BP) to counter attack breakouts I was getting due to using a new moisturizer (contained AHA which promotes cell turnover, and in turn, produces further breakouts). I was using the Benzoyl Peroxide and Clearisil Adult Acne cream to combat inflammation I was getting from the AHA moisturizer. The reason why I was using a new moisturizer was because the moisturizer I was using previously- Purpose with SPF 15-switched their SPF active ingredient of Zinc Oxide to Meradimite, which I’m allergic to. Blech! So here I am racing to the store/doctor’s office to (1) get a prescription for a Medrol pack, and (2) finding a new moisturizer. I finally settled on Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturizer with SPF 30. Works like a charm. One thing I should not is my skin is not used to BP as a form of acne treatment. My acne treatment has always consisted of antibiotics then birth control pills with the daily generic, .05% retin-A cream on my chin to control hormonal acne (YES! I still get acne on my chin when approaching that time of the month!) Now here I am two weeks post August-11 and I am trying to wean my skin off BP, as it was too drying for me. Plus, I don’t want to be dependent on it. Since that time (and because I stopped using the BP spot treatment) some breakouts reoccurred. I just iced them to bring down the inflammation and put on Retin-A at night. According to my experience (and it’s a long one) Retin A has done a beautiful job of preventing past breakouts from coming back. But, like an idiot, I resorted to spot treating with BP a few weeks back because of the moisturizer/hormonal fiasco during the time of my boyfriend’s bday. Anyhow, at this point I’m trying to get my chin to wean off of BP. I only started using it a few weeks back and have had to breakouts come back, but I believe they are now under control or are “slowing down”. Given that, I noticed some pimples that were forming underneath the skin because of stopping use of BP which I iced like once to three times daily for about five minutes each. This reduced the inflammation on some of them and even stopped three dead in their tracks (icing was not the only thing that contributed to this, I believe Retin A also helped). Anywho, I noticed raised, fleshy colored pimples in their place and although they don’t feel like a “pimple in formation” whenever I lightly press on them with a Q-tip, they are still clogged pores are are not going away. What do I do to get rid of these? The Retin-A cream? I’m assuming if I stick with the Retin-A, it could take months for the fleshy colored papules to go down. Not to mention I have another hormonal outbreak that may start up next week. Anywho , anyone know what I can do to down size on these fleshy-colored papules? I have a derm appointment on September 10. I’ve decided to shop around for a new Derm since the once I have is more interested in just writing a prescription rather than taking his time to look at me and suggesting what I should do to improve my acne. He did write me a prescription for stronger Retin-A and I’m still wondering if I should use this. Can anyone help me? |
