Too much protein, too much carbs, too much fat - it doesn't matter which one, but too much of anything produces too much energy, and if it's not used up right away, it goes into sebum production.
Makes as much sense as any other theory I guess. From personal experience, I can see how this is possibly true.
By the way, working out (sore muscles) are good for acne, because left-over energy goes into restoring the muscle tissue.
If you sit at home all day - eat less than you would if you were working physically all day.
All the other stuff (candida/"bad" protein/dirty colon/glycemic index) all contributes to the problem, and can be used as guidelines for a healthy diet, but it seems that over-eating is the MAIN problem in my opinion and experience.
Like the Buddhists say: don't eat when you're not hungry, and stop eating your meal while you're still a little hungry (70% full)

BUT
i do agree with teplo 100% here, i have a fast metabolism and i do find if i eat more and i do nothing
my skin seems more likely to pop a pimple up for me.
this thread might become very interesting if we can get other peoples experiences on it!

Same reason why people in 3rd world countries don't have acne - they're too poor to stuff themselves all day while sitting at home and watching TV.
I lived in France for a summer and ate small meals 2-3 times per day. No acne at all. I'm sure the sun/sweating/relaxation/constant walking contributed to it too, but the small meals were the key. When I didn't have a meal, I had a candy bar, and still no acne.
For a few months now I've been eating 100% organic, vegetarian raw food, and I still have acne, because I eat HUGE amounts of this food, in order not to feel hungry. I had less acne when I ate small McDonalds meals 2 times per day.
Here's what I think we should be eating: SMALL, BALANCED meals. Small amount of fat, protein, carbs, in equal amounts. Chicken breast sandwich on a roll with lettuce and tomato for example.
Eat the meal before physical activity, not before going to sleep.
I'm sure someone can calculate exact numbers of how much protein/calories your body uses per day, but I don't know how one would do that.

Morning: ham and cheese sandwich
then I went walking around Paris all day, eating ice cream and ham and cheese sandwiches when I got hungry.
Evening: yogurt, ham and cheese sandwich, fruit
evening walk
When to eat complex carbs (pasta, rice, bread): 1 hour before physical activity
When to eat simple carbs (ice cream, candy, chocolate): during physical activity
I guess it's the same thing they tell fat people: JUST EAT LESS!!

as it wil give you much worse things to worry about rather than just acne.

i just want to emphasise not to starve yourself for the desperate people that want to get rid of their hated acne
as it wil give you much worse things to worry about rather than just acne.
well... yea.. I've tried fasts many many many times. Tried one today actually, but then I went to a party, got drunk and ate a bunch of crappy food a few hours after the fast's start.
Basically, make your body use more energy: if you sit at a desk all day, then work out at the gym a few times per week, so your muscles hurt a little. Then your body will be using energy to repair your muscles.
I heard similar things form a Korean lady who ate very strict meals. She never talked about protein, carbs, etc. but just "energy" in general.

it does make sense in a strange way.
the corrolation between eating larger meals and not much exercise, but its people with faster metabolisms so they dont gain weight, but instead get some level of acne..

it's all about calories I guess. The combination of energy derived from fat/protein/carbs.
so since I weigh 120, I need 1,200 calories per day. That's about 3 6" subway sandwiches. Except their stuff is disproportionately high in carbs and sodium (which causes acne).
Salty, sweet and spicy food causes acne for me. For sure. Tested it, tried it, proved it.

Some tips to help u not overeat:
I guess eating 5-6 small meals per day as bodybuilders do is really the best option. Another thing i've noticed is that eating while doing anything else (watching TV) makes you consume alot more food than u should. This happens because you do not only have to feed the stomach, your brain has to record the event of eating food well enough to stop making you think your hungry. Also when you have finished a small meal and think it should have been enough but it isn't, wait for 10-15 mins and see if you are still hungry. I'm not exactly sure why you have to wait these 10-15 mins but I guess it has something to do wih the stomach stretching and making you feel full.

after a meal il always drink a green tea
it helps get the bad toxins out of your body from the food you ate.
leaving you with a higher good/crap ratio.

my advise is from what i do which is
after a meal il always drink a green tea
it helps get the bad toxins out of your body from the food you ate.
leaving you with a higher good/crap ratio.
I tend to drink green tea after meals as well for that specific purpose.
As for your over-eating and acne correlation, it's interesting. I'm gona do some research into it.

what we are saying is
some people seem to put on weight if they eat and dont have acne
the other type ie us
dont put on ANY WEIGHT at all (i kno this is true for me)
an simply our pores produce more sebum which increases likelyhood of spots.

Personally, this is totally true. I'm allergic/intolerant to dairy, peanuts and, especially, fish. If I eat any of these my face and shoulders break out. WIth fish, just eating 1 salmon fillet can result in 8-10 pimples the very next morning...weird, painful ones that only pop up after eating fish or fish oils...my body cannot digest it for some reason anexcretes it through the skin.
Since making this correlation, I stopped eating fish, taking fish oil and have been 98% clear the last month. So it depends on how *your* body decides to deal with problem foods.
