I'm not sure whether Acne 's genetic, environmental or whatever, but do you really grow out of it? And if you do, when does it normally occur? I'm just curious. I've heard that most adults grow out of it by the time they hit their 20's -- I wonder. I just turned 20 years old, and I feel that I am at the tail-end of my suffering, but I'm not sure. What do you think? eusa_think.gif

i have a feeling that if you don't blast your skin to hell with products as a teenager----then it will eventually sort itself out in your 20s. MOST people nowadays simply don't "wait it out."

I am 46 and still deal with it! though not as bad as some teens but still! at my age. I get the 2 or 3 white heads on my face but its my neck that gets me if I eat nuts or nut products or pork anything, even bacon will do it now and if I eat that stuff I can count the weeks usually 1 to 2 and then they hit like a mack truck on my neck! So if I stay away I am ok, funny thing is all that stuff doesn't bother my girls or mom or dad or sister, so wondering if it is just my system or am I an odd duck?

adult acne is a lot less common compared to teen acne.
i base the age i wil properly grow out on when my father grew out of his
"late twenties" apparently.
but usually its at some point in your twenties when you finally get rid of the more "persistant" acne.
stil get a pimple here and there on occasion sure.
but not like 1-2 a day.

Wow, thanks for the info. I feel I am starting to grow out of it, because my Acne isn't bad like it used to be. So maybe this is the tail-end, for sure. biggrin.gif

I outgrew it when I was 21 and 2-6 months. It was definitely at its worst at 20 turning 21. I didn't think I'd ever outgrow it.

I stopped getting it at 17, but I'm sure that's because of accutane. Still, I'm glad it never came back. I'll only get a pimple once every couple of months now.

You can't kill it off as a teenager simply by using lots of products. A high number of teenagers get acne to some degree, a fact that I witnissed the other day at the supermarket near the local school. Most will be lucky enough to grow out between 16-20. However, acne can last from between the ages 12 - 80, although obviously the severity does decrease to some degree as you get older. If you parents had acne and they grew out of it at say 25, then theres a good chance your acne will begin to subside in your mid 20s. My mother still has acne though and she's in her 50's................I hope there is some radical breakthrough in the near future as I can't handle acne for another 30 years+

You will never "grow out" of acne. It will always be with you physically or mentally.

Actually, 30 percent of acne sufferers continue to have acne in their adult life. Sucks, eh.

where did you get that figure from?
and if by acne u mean the odd pimple here and there then maybe
i think what this post really means is the obvious signs of acne ie:
if you stop using all acne treatments and you get like say,
1 pimple a month.
tat would been "grown out of acne"
