I have this massive cyst on my nose and it's really red and bumpy. It's probably the biggest pimple I've ever had and it's sore and shiny and extremely embarrassing.

I have a feeling it's gonna be bumpy and red for at least a week and will probably flatten slightly next week. What's the best method to speed up the process? Should I just stick to BP day/night? It doesn't have a head, so there's no way of squeezing the gunk out.

I feel like shit and I'm so clueless as to what I need to do to get rid of it because I don't usually get cysts.

and why did it have to appear on my nose? Anywhere but there!!! :'( :'(

Someone please help.. sad.gif

i dont know if bp would help, as it tends to make my skin redder but u could try just putting a thin layer on....i would honestly see a dermatologist, they are very helpful.

Aaargh. I know how you feel, I get cysts on my nose a lot. I generally have at least one on it at any one time, although every now and again they disappear! I'm afraid the only think to do is wait it out. One technique that helped me a bit is holding an ice cube, or an ice cube wrapped in a flannel, against the spot for a few minutes, then apply whatever topical you use, BP or whatever. This supposedly takes down the inflamation and helps the topical treat the infection quicker. If you do that regularly, once a day I think, it should speed up the recovery. Good luck!

if you are ok to take painkillers(not allergic or anything)i find that nurofen or advil can really help to reduce the swelling and imflammation.

try it for yourself..good luck*

Do you think clay masques would speed up the process? or should I just leave it alone?

dude dont use bp on it. relly. ull fuck it up so bad i had a cyst on my nose one time. i used so much diff shit on it, everythin i cud find i used i ended up fuckin it up. now listen, if it hurts, ice it, otherwise dont even do that. wait till it comes to a head, and i mean wait, cos if u even try n pop it erly and its unsuccesful think of it as adding 2 weeks onto its life, so yeh, pop it at the right time. leave it alone till that right time comes. no bp.

I get cysts a lot. What I do it get a flannel, soak it in really hot water and hold over the cyst for 10 minutes or so. At first, it will be too hot to put on your skin, so just hold it as close as you can to the cyst and put the flannel on when it has cooled down a bit. Keep putting more hot water on as it cools. The hot water really helps if the cyst is throbbing and will reduce the swelling.

The only thing is, don't do this if you are going anywhere within the 2 hours following the bathing, as your nose will be bright red and will stay that way for a while!!!

As soon as I have bathed, I cover it in BP while the purs are still open, and I mean cover it!!!!

i hope this helps! xx

I know how you feel... I have a huge cyst on my nose right now that has gradually gotten bigger over the past few days. And of course, it's not on the side or anything but in the very middle of my nose. Funny how that happens tongue.gif. I haven't gotten a cyst in months either, and this weekend I'm supposed to be going out a lot as well! Ahhh

It's been about a week now. Doesn't hurt anymore, still bumpy and red though. I don't think it'll ever go down sad.gif It's slightly raised now, but I think it has finished healing. Crap.

Dont worry, it will go. I have the same between my eyes at the moment. It goes through phases of hurting and being red, but it is definitely going down. Dont expect it to be gone overnight, but it will slowly recede and eventually you will never be able to tell it was there! Just be thankful its a big spot under the skin, and wont scar or leave a red mark- it will hurt for a while, and maybe look bad, but in the long term its not gonna affect you! smile.gif

Applying heat will help it rise to a head sooner. Icing it will help reduce swelling, but it may not help it heal. You can apply BP to it, it will help with the infection. Whatever you do, DO NOT POP IT; at least until it has come to a nice head. Basically, when you go for the pop you should be certain of ALL the gunk coming out. If you leave the base of the gunk in there, it'll come back. goodlucks

Man...I have had the same thing on my nose and I lost count how many times.
It was sooooo embarassing at work with the huge reddish inflammation that is visible from 20-30 feet away.

I have tried cold (with ice) and hot (with hot towel) compress with no luck.

My last big one was 6 weeks ago in the middle of my left cheek and it left behind a big dark spot.
Then about last week, another big bump was forming quickly next to the last nodule/cyst. Apparently it had spread to the nearby skin and was generating a new lession.

Fortunately I found this site which helped tremendously in short time and did a lot more reading on the net.

I did a four-pronged approached which successfully eliminate the newly forming nodule/cyst.

-I used Neutrogena on-the spot acne treatment, as recommended by this site / Dan Kern. I would dab a thick layer at night before I go to sleep and spread an even layer in the morning.

-I learned somewhere that acne is an inflammation not an infection. So frantically I searched for anti-inflammation medication. I came across articles that say green tea has been clinically proven to have anti-inflammatory properties. So I started drinking 3 glasses of green tea everyday since.

-I bought this light emitting device called Lumiport (www.lumiport.com) for $149 after reading a post on this site from someone who bought it. Thankfully it came in two working days.
It emits red and blue lights of certain wavelength which were clinically proven to kill the P.Acnes bacteria and reduce the swelling.
In this particular case, the Lumiport's DermaStyle was the last reinforcement in my fight against nodulecystic acne. I used it for 10 minutes to illuminate the very spot the cyst was forming.

-I also tried to sleep 7-8 hours since I detected the new cyst and drink a lot of water throughout the day and pay attention to my diet (eat more soup/cooked meals and stay away from fried food/meat).

I am not sure which one(s) helped stopped the new cyst but perhaps the stay-on BP can claim the most credit because it is the first armament I used in this case. This time around I declared victory against acne.
After 2-4 days the cyst has completely gone and I could not feel any bump or thickness of skin anymore with my finger.

Good luck with yours!

Hey guys, the cyst went down about 2 weeks after I posted this except, it left a slightly raised red mark.
A month has passed and it has formed again. it's so embarrassing! I feel so helpless. =(

I made a mistake and tried to pop it before it formed a head. Although it doesnt hurt anymore, it's TWICE THE SIZE (1cm in diameter) on the middle on my nose! I look like rudolph front on and a witch side on. What does it mean if it's not hurting? will it take twice as long to go away?

this is killing me. people won't stop staring. I dont want to leave the house, but i have work commitments.
I'm so depressed right now..

can someone please help me :'( :'(

I had one of those on my nose when I was still in school, and I mean there was nothing I could do about it so instead of trying to hide it and being all ashamed, I put a smiley face on it and named it kevin. That way it was a joke to everyone and no one could talk about it behind my back or make fun of me if i already was. And if I would get a huge one on my cheeks I would just get a pretty sticker and put it over it so it just looks like I was being silly with stickers.

I know exactly how you feel. I get cysts and f*ing whiteheads on my nose (always have 2-3) and when they seem to be gone, new ones pop up. If I had no acne on my nose my face would look so much better

I dont know how to solve your nose cyst problem, but I can tell you what you should not do.

I stabbed at a cyst I had on my nose because I was so enraged at having a fucking cyst on my nose that was very big and had been there for A MONTH. The cyst drained out for the most part.

But I still have the huge red mark there.

ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS.

I had the worsy cyst on my nose during the summer. It was perfectly on the center, tip of the nose, massive and made me look like rudolf the rednose reindeer. It was the worse zit you could possible get, its the worst spot to get it cuz its right in everyones face when you see them. I had presentations at school and everything, it was horrible. You just have to battle through. Mine lasted for like 6 weeks, wouldnt die down and lasted longer than any other cyst ive had. After it had died down though I felt a higher sense on confidence in myself, as will you. Oh, and DONT POP IT!! I did and now its scarred for life!

Every now and then I get huge cysts, usually on my chin, they were really bad during my pregnancy...
I had gotten one about 2 weeks ago, I tried popping it and all it did was make it darker and more noticeable...my cysts don't come to a head and pop or come to the point where you can squeeze them, they usually just go down and leave a dark spot...so I don't even know why I tried popping it...
I was putting raw honey on it at night (I'm really into natural products now since every freakin drug didn't help me) and in 3 days it shrinked, didn't go away completely but it shrinked a lot. I also took some Advil to make the redness go away...
I'm gonna tell you something, I don't know how well it works for acne since I never tried it but my mom gets this humangous boil on her back at least once a year...in order to bring it to a head so it can pop she puts a slice of raw, uncooked bacon and the boil comes to a head the next day...I believe the fat in the bacon brings the boil to a head, maybe that would work for your cyst too...or maybe applying something greasy on the cyst alone like Vaseline or something would bring it to a head....
Just wanted to throw that out...and remember DON'T PICK ON IT !!!
