OK.. so basically i have butt acne.

it's like this little tiny bumps/blemishes and then every now and then i get these like cyst things or just nasty white heads.

EWWWW, gross.. i know!

my butt doesn't sweat yet i have no pimples on my face or anywhere else on my body and
i've had it since i was little.

ok.. i was wondering if anyone else had this PROBLEM?!?

i was gonna order PROACTIV tonight to see if that'll help.

I tried Proactiv, both the face and body products, and it didn't work for my butt acne. sad.gif It's actually folliculitis and every acne product I have ever tried did not work. Very frustrating.

Have you looked at the sea salt threads? I have been using refined sea salt with some success on the problem--no boils anymore but still red spots/some whiteheads. I just got coarse Dead Sea salt yesterday. I am very hopeful that this will be the solution.

I think BA is caused by bacteria staying on the skin after you do number 2. Try adding in wet wipes after you do number 2. Also, use a cleanser with salicylic acid. Proactiv is not worth using in that area.

also think it could be an allergic reaction to something or a rash from not cleaning properly eusa_sick.gif

ok ok are we talking on the cheek area or more, um, inwards?

i feel like you mean acne on the cheeks/upper legs and this happens, my friend had it and she went on accutane and it's never come back. the only embarassing thing: explaining to people why you're on accutane when you've never gotten more than one pimple on your face.

You can cure any body acne in a week inexpensively. Just purchase a body scrub brush like the one in the first page of my exfoliation thread. There's a pic with me holding a brush and it says "The above brush is better suited for body exfoliation."

If you buy that (3$ or less) and also get a bar of cetaphil gentle cleansing bar, you'll be all set. you can also get a bottle of rubbing alcohol and some cotton pads (not the balls) and use that as a toner after you exfoliate in the shower and rinse. Do this once per day and your buttne should disappear very quickly and never return. (that's what Cosmo called it-buttne I think-lol)

good luck! please try this, you have nothing to lose and products like Proactiv and other sa/bp products are designed to treat acne. Body acne is generally just clogged pores-not inflammatory or cystic at all. Releasing those clogged pores with proper exfoliation is the only way to cure it and keep it from coming back.

Thank you for this suggestion. But, why cotton pads and not cotton balls? Any particular reason?

well, for larger surface areas cotton balls are more of a hassle to apply toner than cotton pads imo. When they become wet you have to basically pinch the ball between two fingers and then it only covers a small area (usually <1/2 an inch) compared to cotton pads, which cover about 2 inches or so. the cotton pad is flat and covers more surface area than a wet, pinched cotton ball...that way you don't have to go up and down your butt with a 1/2 inch ball, spending more time trying to make sure you get everything. with a cotton pad you just wet it, and with 2 or 3 swipes on each butt cheek you're done. lol. They're just more efficient-and you may only need to use one each time. Whereas cotton balls, they become dirty quicker and you'll probably have to use 2 or 3.

I used to do this when I had gym class and my shorts gave me irritation breakouts back there. cotton balls are just a pain in the topic of discussion imo. eusa_angel.gif

lol, thanks for the reasoning! I wasn't sure if there wasn't something wrong with cotton balls; they seem benign enough. Cotton pads=quicker=good. Got it. Thank you.

Dont Buy Proactiv!! Its complete shit.
Follow this body acne regimine, it will work well:
Morning:
-shower with basis soap
-wait 10min for skin to dry
-apply alpha hydroxy lotion and wait till dry (non face only!)
-apply bp (face and body)
-apply eucerin as needed (face and body)
Day:
-youre feelin so cool
Night:
wash face with basis and apply bp

applying bp&alpha once a day for back other areas seemed to work well. If this dont work see a derm. Dont suffer on if its not working.

i had the same problem and still have scarring/keloids because of it. ive tried everything to get rid of it and the only thing that worked is ACCUTANE. If you're a female, getting this is supremely difficult. You must be on birth control and will have a pregnancy test every month. ive had the same physician for years and she wouldnt prescribe accutane to me because of the severe side effects associated. i finally found a dermatologist to give it to me, went on it and it cleared up the butt acne. But... be prepared to be dried out like a prune. DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!! i feel ya...

PiTTs--how long did you take the accutane, and did it permanently clear up the butt acne? Thanks.

I'd much rather have acne on my ass than on my face and body.
