accutane can take a while to see any big improvement so dont worry about that and also if it has not gone when you finish your course they will probably make you start a new course untill it has gone which it definately will on accutane because eventually you will have next to 0 sebum being produced making gettin a spot impossible. although be aware when you finish on accutane your acne can come back but usually if it does it is nowhere near as bad.

Hi the names Chris, im 14 and have very severe Cystic acne on my back, chest and face. It is very embarassing for me to tell anyone that I have acne on parts of my body other than my face, i have hidden it for about a year and a half now cry.gif the worst part of it all is that it is painful and nobody knows that I have it (except for family) So whenever I want to go out somewhere I must make up a story to my friends why I can not, also you know when someone pats you on the back, yah i have to try my best and not yell at them for touching my cystic acne. It's just annoying having to live with this kind of acne, whenever I wake up, my bed is full of blood, my pillow has pimple scabs on it, and if that isnt disgusting enough, i find scabs stuck to my neck sometimes. I am on accutane right now, im on the start of my 4th month, things have gotten better, but I dont see a total major improvement. My back still hurts a hell of a lot,and sometimes I cant go to school in the morning because i am in too much pain. Also, the worst class I have is gym, trying to cover my acne so blood doesnt leak through my white shirt and everyone sees. If they did, they would call me a freak, harass me, and more. I just dont like this anymore it is really beginning to piss me off, so if you could give me some suggestions of any kind it would be appreciated.

HEY MAN DONT WORRY ABOUT IT IM 19 AND I STILL HAVE BACK ACNNE ULL LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT AND WAT I SUGEST TAKE A BATH WITH SEA SALT DUDE IT WORKS GOOD I PLAY HOCKEY AND ALL MY TEAM MATES SE MY BACK ITS NOT LIKE THERE GONNA GO TELL EVRYEONE U TAKE IT AS IF U WERE A MONSTER DONT WORRY ABOUT IT AND LIVE URE LIFE NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT URE BACK ITS JUST U THINK THEY DO AGAIN JUST DONT WORRY ABOUT IT IT WILL GO AWAY ONE DAY DUDE TAKE IT EASY KIDDO

Accutane does have some bad side effects, but I did not experience them. Just be aware if you start experiencing depression or feeling suicidal, you need to talk to someone or your doc. Some teens have committed suicide while on Accutane. I'm not sure of there were other issues at hand or if the medicine is to blame. Some people have joint pain or tiredness, but personally I can deal with being tired if it clears up my skin! Make sure your derm does your blood work also to keep your blood pressure and cholesterol in check. My friend experienced really high blood pressure and cholesterol while on Accutane.

I would not use to many cleansers or treatments because they may interfere with your med. Just wash your face with Cetaphil, apply body lotion and moisturizer to keep from getting too dry. Also, keep chapstick and eye drops. Be patient (it usually gets worse before it gets better; you should see results quickly.

Hey everyone, I used to have horrible back acne as well when I was in high school. I am in college now and I still have it but not quite as bad. One thing that has really helped me is changing my diet. I have to avoid sugar as much as possible, which sucks because I have a major sweet tooth. Whenever I eat too much sugar I break out, but if I am good for a while my skin smooths right out. Hopefully I won't have to avoid sugar forever, but it really has been helpful for now at least.

is that sugar/bacne thing for real?

I'm 25 and while my back acne isn't as bad as it was in high school - back then it was cysts so bad it hurt to sit back in my chair and I didn't own one white shirt - I still do have quite a few marks. I haven't worn a bathing suit at the beach since I was about 10 years old and I envy those who wear backless tops, especially now when it's so hot out!!! I'm getting married next year and it kills me to think that I'll have the same problem with my wedding dress that I had with my prom dress back in high school ... finding something with enough fabric to hide my bad skin.

Trust me, I know exactly what you're going through.

bacne does suck. what you should do is if some of your classmates in gym are your friends you should talk to them about it. i did and found out that alot of my friends had bacne too i just never noticed cuz who really pays attention to another persons back while they are having fun. plus nobody would laugh at your or scold you that would be like laughing at a kid cuz he has a terminal disease though not as serious as that. also looking on into the future 10, 15, or 20 years from now how many of those kids will you still know. so enjoy life and being a teenager now before it passes you by.

A friend of mine had severe cystic acne on his back, and went on roaccutane as well. His Doc told him to swim in the ocean as much as possible (he's a Swede) or to take sea salt baths, and that really helped dry up and heal the spots. He is clear now, sure he's got scars, but who cares? He is a beautiful person and that's what counts. I'm just sorry to hear that it physically hurts you cry.gif no one, especially a fine young man like yerself deserves that!
