Hi the names Chris, im 14 and have very severe Cystic acne on my back, chest and face. It is very embarassing for me to tell anyone that I have acne on parts of my body other than my face, i have hidden it for about a year and a half now
the worst part of it all is that it is painful and nobody knows that I have it (except for family) So whenever I want to go out somewhere I must make up a story to my friends why I can not, also you know when someone pats you on the back, yah i have to try my best and not yell at them for touching my cystic acne. It's just annoying having to live with this kind of acne, whenever I wake up, my bed is full of blood, my pillow has pimple scabs on it, and if that isnt disgusting enough, i find scabs stuck to my neck sometimes. I am on accutane right now, im on the start of my 4th month, things have gotten better, but I dont see a total major improvement. My back still hurts a hell of a lot,and sometimes I cant go to school in the morning because i am in too much pain. Also, the worst class I have is gym, trying to cover my acne so blood doesnt leak through my white shirt and everyone sees. If they did, they would call me a freak, harass me, and more. I just dont like this anymore it is really beginning to piss me off, so if you could give me some suggestions of any kind it would be appreciated.

I really know what ur talking about with the white shirt thing, I have cystic acne on my upper back, I am a chef assistant so I have to wear a white top aswell. After some shifts I have blood patches everywhere, but the head chef knows about it so its not all that bad..

try taking baths in sea salt, its supposed to help remove scars.. i dont know how much it will remove severe ones though

I feel for you. I had body acne when i was younger. I am 28 now and i only get an occational spot here and there on my body, but i still get acne on my face. I am worried about the Accutane. Do you know the harmful affects it has on people. Try aloe vera. Use it like you would on a sunburn. Use it on your back first and see if it is going to work for you. It worked for me. Good luck!!!

Another thing that i used the worked was Vitamine E. Break open a capsule and lightly rub it on the area.

"it was very cold when applied to my back"
Accutane can cause much worse problems than that...Was the cream effective?
the cream was a bit effective it ws erethromycin. Ive been on accutne for a while, and the worst thing ive had is dry lips.

I have the same problem, and have also been on Accutane (for 3 months though). I am hoping it ends up helping more than it is. For I also wake up with similar problems. Also fuck backpacks. Sometimes I can't even wear mine.
Im sorry to hear that.I hate backpacks, they hurt me, but if i dont wear it i will looklike an idiot.

Mask I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. Know that you are not alone and there are so many people out there who know exactly where you are coming from. I am a 23 year old woman who had acne as a teenager. I get a small breakout every now and then, so i am not about to tell you you'll be crystal clear, but things will get better. Stick to Accutane if its working for you. The one thing I have noticed in adulthood is men who had or have had acne understand the that true beauty comes from within and end up being really great boyfriends. What you go through now will only make you are more loving compassionate person when you are older and I bet you will soon clear up and get the confidence you need to make the most of you teenage life.
Good luck, keep us posted!

ahh, i can relate. i never did gym, or swimming. i always said i had migrains, nausea, or i would make my dermatologists appointment in that time. if your family does know about this, ask them to write a note saying that you have 'osgood schlatter'. I actually did get it. it happens when you do too much sports, especially jumping, and things to do with your knees. so just get a note saying you can't do sports for another..... say 8 months or so (mine was 1.5 years, and it was legit). problem solved. and what dose of roaccutane are you on? it goes by your mg/kg. i was on 1.3mg/kg. so 90mg a day. pretty hefty. but it did the job. also if you can, it's best to go to a really high dose for a short time (6-12 months). if you get to a high dose, the effects last for the rest of your life. like me, when i got off it, it's still working. and i don't have any side effects. except i still get acne. i guess everyone's different.

It says not to use other Vitamin E supplements while on Accutane. Anyways, i was on erethromycin before, it was a white cream, it was very cold when applied to my back, I did not like it, thats why I decided to take Accutane.
Have you tried the sea salt yet? I've heard great things about it.

Chris I feel for you man, keep it going with the Accutane though and you will see results. How many mgs/kg are you on? My dermatologist told me that 1mg/kg is the average number for long-lasting positive effects and minimum side effects, but of course it varies from person to person. I am on 80mg daily myself right now entering my 5th month of treatment.
I also thought I would mention that some people don't get the full effects from Accutane until AFTER they stop taking it. I mean, it's common for it to keep working for a year or two after you go off of it but some people even report that it actually becomes MORE effective when they stop taking it.
Goodluck and keep us posted!

Hey everyone, I used to have horrible back acne as well when I was in high school. I am in college now and I still have it but not quite as bad. One thing that has really helped me is changing my diet. I have to avoid sugar as much as possible, which sucks because I have a major sweet tooth. Whenever I eat too much sugar I break out, but if I am good for a while my skin smooths right out. Hopefully I won't have to avoid sugar forever, but it really has been helpful for now at least.
