Hello...I am new here...battling off and on acne for 16 years---now with scarring cysts along my jawline.

Have I been scammed again??? I just broke down and ordered the dermastyle laser pen and am hoping it may help...I have'nt seen any comments about it by anyone on here.

I am sure everyone knows how I feel, getting my hopes up that finally something may work, but I've been burned so many times.

Has anyone tried this? If you don't know what I'm talking about go to www.lumniport.com.

I also just started my first antibiotics (doryx 100mg) since I was 17, and finacea cream. It seems to be helping somewhat.

Why are you taking finacea? Do you have rosacea?

The laser pen sounds like a scam to me. Lasers usually cost around $100,000 so I doubt you could just buy something off the internet like that. Oh by the way your link didn't work. And just so you know, antibiotcs make you light sensitive so if you ever decide to really get lasered then you need to be off of them for at least 3 weeks.

Hope you find what you are looking for! My name is Amber too. smile.gif

Funny you should ask that, because I don't have rosacea, and I wondered why she prescribed it for my cystic acne...but after one week, WOW! It really is working better than anything else I've tried.

The laser pen hasn't come in yet so I can't give a verdict.

You are correct in that lasers can be very expensive. Most lasers designed to treat skin conditions range from $10,000 to $50,000 (depending on the type and manufacturer). However, the DermaStyle device is not a laser. It uses what is called a bi-color LED that produces not only the exact intensity, but also exact wavelengths that have been proven to be effective in the treatment of acne. Note the following quote from the American Academy of Dermatology:

"[Blue] Light gets at the core of what causes acne eruptions: P. acnes, the bacterial responsible for causing acne inflammation, pumps out tiny molecules called porphyrins. When those porphyrin are exposed to certain wavelengths of light, they produce free radicals that kill the bacteria. Without P. acnes around to cause inflammation, acne clears up."

You can also see published research that shows these intensities to be very effective at treating acne:

You will also notice that most dermatologist offices that now offer light therapy are using LED devices instead of clinical lasers. However, the best proof we have to offer about the effectiveness of the DermaStyle is the testimonials from our own customers. Over 70% of those who use the DermaStyle report visible results within the first 48 hours.
