Can skin absorb the vitamin A derivative that is present in topical retinoids suck as tazorac and differin? :-k

I've been on Tazorac 4 months, and it says not to take any vit a supplements, but I want to start taking cod liver oil gel pills, which only have about 25% of recommended daily value for vit A. Would the Vit A that is in the medicine be absorbed and enter my blood stream our would it just sit on top of my skin and work it's magic? #-o

If the vit a derivatives in the medicine don't actually enter my blood stream, wouldn't it still be safe to take the cod liver pill? I don't want to OD on Vitamin A because I know that this vitamin can be fatal. 8-[
