made my face get red really easily (even by going up one flight of stairs). Made my face even oiler than it already is, and doesnt really work on existing pimples. I only used it for 2 months tho, eventhough the reccomended time is longer.

Yep. Differin did work for me pretty well, but it caused redness/flushing. I used it for 10 months and never got one of those initial breakouts, just clearer skin. For me though, I hate being dependent on prescription meds so I stopped using it..not to mention the flushing was out of control.

meh, if he can find an answer here, its fine by me. Yeah the face flushing made me look like I was drunk all the time, hell I dont know whats worse, the acne or the flushing. My initial clearing was awesome, but it went a tad downhill from there. I feel like I could have been clear from Differin if I stuck to it but I've always had an oily face and couldnt cope with an even oiler one. syr6987 if you have a dry face, go ahead and try it, I think itll help.

I tried differin along time ago, it didn't do anything for me at all, litterally. It didn't help my acne or make it worse, it didnt dry me out or irratate my skin it just did nothing.

I've been using it for ten weeks now, and it works for me. It doesn't dry me out, it has left me with a healthy glow, and I have had no active pimples since my IB which was six weeks ago. I'm going to continue using it, and recommending it, and I hope it continues working! (PS: my daughters both use it and got completely clear on it and they are acne-prone teenagers; that's what made me start using it in my forties).

Differin is great! It is like Retin-A (tretinoin cream) but less irritating and also doesn't make your skin as sun sensitive. If you are over 35 or 40 it's also good for wrinkle lines because it works like Retin-A. I use it only at night after I applied Clindamycin gel (antibiotic). I apply clindamycin morning and night. Also wash your face with a good face wash like Aloeguard, Tatoo Goo, or a seabuckthorn face wash/soap if you want a natural face wash before treating.

I have been pimple free since I started doing the regimen above with an occasional zit once in a while sometimes appearing in places I don't even treat like my ear (I just had one in my earlobe!) which I would spot treat. I have stopped since a week ago (except the wash) and just doing maintenance by applying pure aloe vera gel (Herbal Blend) mixed with azelaic acid (melazepam) to get rid of the red marks which has been improving so far. Hope that helps.

Differin didn't really do that much for me when I was using it in conjunction with oral antibiotics. Using it in conjunction with Benzamycin Gel made a significant difference and then when I swapped the Benzamycin Gel for Duac Gel, I saw even better results. I think differin on its own will only be really effective against the most mild cases of acne. Theres been a few scientific studies recently that show it can be very effective as part of a combination therapy, like the regimen I have with Duac and Differin.

Actually, contrary to popular belief, differin has not been proven to help with wrinkles. Only retin a and tazorac have.

And not to jinx you, but I used benzaclin+differin and I was extremely clear. Then when the antibiotic wore off I got a lot of pimples. I doubt it is the differin...

And to the original topic starter...I did not like differin at all. Definitely use either retin a (my opinion the best one), or tazorac GEL. Remember it takes LONGER than just a few weeks to work. Maybe up to 6 months, you have to be patient with retinoids.

About the flushing...ive never used differin this just relates to someones question on whats worse, flushing or acne. At school a lot of people (normally really white people) have red faces so i figure its acne, then when i see them close up they have clear skin, its just really red. So i guess its a pick ur poison kinda thing.

I though differin was pretty useless myself.

Ask your doc for benzamycin gel (its in a little jar) it clears my acne up if I use it every day or even miss a day every so often. It does dry your skin out a lot though so you need to use some moisturizer.

My acne was always mild to moderate but in September of last year it became out of control until I finally went to the dermotoligist in February and she put me on Differin. My really bad break outs (severe enough to cause scarring) went down immediately and I never had an IB (ive probably had less than 5 zits in the 2 1/2 months Ive been on it). I do get the flushing and my red bumps are still quite pronounced, but the acne has gone down dramatically. If I didnt have to shave I doubt i'd have to use cover up anymore. Now to just get rid of scarring...

Differin worked great for me. It reduced my appearance of pimples dramaticly+ it helped them to heal. However if you want to be absolutely clear differin alone wont do the job. You must combine your diet higiene and things like that. Btw I am talking about my face not body. I would say it improved my acne 80-90%

Differin is useless unless you have mild acne. For anything moderate, while it will help, it will not provide reasonable clearing.

Hey, I've read your whole Accutane log and I respect your opinions you share on here, so I just want to know why you say that? Cause my derm just prescribed me Differin (in combo with Duac and Bactrim pills) for my mild acne, he seems to think Differin is perfect for mild acne. How come you disagree? Thanks.

Sorry, but speak for yourself. There is one undeniable truth about differin. Differin will work for you quite vell, or it wont at all. That means either you get significantly clearer or none of your pimples dissapear. It worked great for me however and I dont know why everyone here is giving it (differin gel) a death sentence/ (
