My whole intention of making this thread was to show you that I have a different opinion on that 'maricle' drug everybody wants to go on. Also that I dont like how there is such a risk of health problems involved in taking accutane. Makes me feels that it's aimed to get at our need to be socially accepted in the world. You cannot deny that there's risks involved in accutane, or else it would be the first thing that doctors prescribe for acne patients. Sure there are risks in other drugs as well but I dont commonly hear them as being called "a last resort" do i?
I really didnt think so many people would be shitting their pants over a view different than theirs. I never offended anybody in my post did i? And here people are telling me that it's all a result of 'false' pride or stubborness. Or that my choice was wrong and that it's silly for me to have taken such precautions.
Maybe Im just more tougher than you guys. And i grew up learning that looks are not more important than your health, and that it's personality and attitude that wins you friends, not appeal. I quickly learned that acne doesnt effect your social life as much as you all think. That it's really how to respond to your acne that effects your social life. Wether you choose to go hide or go play some soccer. Never have I had a problem with people talking about my acne( and people have talked about it, i just never had problems with it though ).
I dunno, just some thoughts. I lived with my acne, and found a way around it. Im doing just fine in life as well. Lots of friends, hang out a lot. w.e
just something to think about

p.s: have you used a topical retinoid yet? I'm on isotrex [topical acutane] and it keeps me clear minus the side affects.
take care

I at one point had 4 months worth of accutane just laying around on my desk. Then I played finger soccer with the pills and lost most of the packets. Then I gave a about 3 away.
You gave away accutane? Was it for other people to use? Being so anti-accutane and knowing the health risks, I can't believe you would just give it to people to use like that. They should be seeing professionals, getting prescribed, taking blood tests, and most importantly, knowing the appropriate dose to take! To just GIVE a person accutane is NOT wise.
Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, and I aplogize if I am. If you didn't give the packets to people to use, then nevermind. If you did, though, that's pretty irresponsible, wouldn't you think?
I do admire how strong you are and confident in your skin. That is admirable. Standing up for what you believe in can be hard at times, and if you don't want to use accutane, that's your decision. The best of luck to you in the future

Accutane isn't a cure-all, but it is a last resort.

First you say you don't want tane because of side effects. Then you kill it all by saying you are on and happy with antibiotics.
hate to bring this thread back, but like i said
antibiotics didnt come with a big fold up of medical risks.

I think ur taking the medical risk thing too serously, they only put that there because they dont want to be sued in case something happens so they exagerate the possible side effects to make sure that neone taking them is aware of what might happen, better to be safe than sorry.

I think your problem was (or is i guess) that your thinking of all the bad things assocaciated with accutane (how often do you hear of really serious side effects, hardly ever) and not that it will do alot of good for your skin. There are so many people that have benefited from using it, so I really think you should have given it just a try.
Judging by your pictures looks as if your acne has cleared up well, how did you do it by the way? (haven't read all pages on the thread). But, I think if you did take accutane would have cleared up even better..
I respect your opinion though, that leaflet is quite daunting but you just have to not really think about it.

Dude, you're not cool just because you've resisted accutane all these years and you're acne is bad. That makes you STUPID. What the hell is the matter with you? Get the F on accutane, and clear your face before you scar your face so bad, it will be for life.
agreed, stop being such a *mod edit

It really annoys me when people say their acne is or was so bad when it isn't, I had hard scabby PATCHES, meaning all of my acne was connected, all over my face, it was painful to open my mouth, to eat, I had a lump in my stomach everytime someone saw me because I was a freak, you try living like that and it takes it out of you, you will be fine:)
i've had that too. dont get me wrong. Hurts the most when it's around the mouthline right? I had that like crazy when i was doing dan's regimen. Once i popped a pimple just stretching my mouth in the morning. How bad do you need acne to be before you can call it bad. I tell you, from my view and from views of other people, my acne was pretty bad, and there's no denying that. my derm said it was really bad, family said it was really bad, i dont know how bad you need it to be, before you can classify it as bad.
okay, adrewski and ronald, has probably been jacking each off for an entire page where i said that even if i wanted to go accutane, I cant because my acne is fairly moderate and doesnt qualify anymore. It's not that I dont like taking risks, but im stingy when it's anything going inside of my body. I've rock climbed and bungee jumped, and im thinking of sky diving for my high school graduation, but anything where it's internal. no thanks.

If you don't want to take accutane for some side effects you have not even experienced, that's your problem dude. All medicines have side effects and it is unpredictable which ones you gonna get.
When I took antibiotics (mino), (like for 2 weeks) I could not handle the side effects. I stopped taking the medicine even when that stupid derm told me to continue. Other people in this post have said the same thing about antibiotics. the joint pain was ridiculous, I couldn't even drive. The worst experience I ever had with any pill. If I had the same experience with Accutane, I would have stopped taking it too. You are the one taking the medicine and feeling the side effects, YOU MAKE THE CHOICE.
I was one of those people who would have killed to get accutane. The day my wonderful new derm prescribed it, was one of the happiest days in my life. I had side effects (dry skin, dry lips, thirst, styes, initial breakouts), but not joint pain. All the side effects are gone except for some dry skin but it's no big deal. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY SKIN IS 100% CLEAR.
And I'm posting this not so much for you, because you sound like a rebel without a cause, you haven't even tried accutane, so you don't even know what you are talking about, I'm writing for the people who are considering taking it. There are a lot of success stories, and also people who don't respond to accutane. You don't know if you are going to be that 15% who don't respond to accutane.
