50%? I dont think thats high.. I would think 80% would be a nice number to want to go on accutane the first time or even the second time... I wouldnt go back on it .. To some ppl good skin is a few pimples here and there to me it isnt.. and to most ppl it isnt either.. If tehres active acne on your face, its still acne. regardless if its severe or mild. acnes acne.. still there lingering... It is a temporary solution to acne for most ppl a high percentage.... That will most likely require another treatment...
50% is the most conservative estimate I have heard for a cure from Accutane. The usual number is higher, usually around 70%. If the take a second course the 'success' / 'no more acne/ rates are even higher. In any event my point is that even in the worse case scenario it is wrong to say that your acne is more likely than not to come back.
Interestingly what you say about the severity of acne. There seem to be a lot of people on these boards share your view that a couple of spots on your face is still acne to be upset about. What can I say - I don't and didn't feel that way when my acne was mild. Each to their own I guess.
Do you have a gallery on this board? I think I may have seen it and if so your acne seems to me (and the others that commented on it) to be extremely mild ...

I don't see how anyone can say that with a straight face unless they never had severe acne.

I say don't judge it unless you've tried it.
who's judging.
You...?
*Scratches head*
You haven't even tried it, yet you are judging the harshness of the side-effects. Like I said man, you could have taken it and had no side effects, just like I did, and avoided all the other stuff you're doing now.

GIMojo said something along the lines of...
"Think getting a job with acne is hard? Try getting one with an amputated leg."
People with amputated legs are protected under laws that say you can not descriminate against them. You can't take a handicap into consideration for a job position, or you'll get sued. Sadly, if you don't look "presentable" enough to the company, they have every right not to hire you. Could I sue for descrimination? Probably. But would I win? Probably not. If I had a missing leg and this happened, though? Yea, I'd be rolling in cash.
And to whomever it was that said I should get back on my "medication"...I am going to be hopefully on Monday. Thanks. However, you are wrong 110% when you say after it I will be a life-long user of "the regimine". The regimine is a peice of crap acne treatment that you have to take for years with no lasting results, just like all other treatments. Accutane is all but a cure. If I had a higher dose, I'm sure I would have had longer-lasting effects, but my doctor was being liberal because he was taking into consideration that my acne wasn't horrible, but he forgot to take into account that I am BP resistant and nothing else worked, thus making me "chronic". I'll get him to take that into account this time, and I'll be back in 5 months to tell you how clear I am, and hopefully again in another 5 months to tell you how clear I've stayed.
Do you like smearing Peroxide on your face everyday and lubing up your dry, irritated skin? Doubt it. Good for you, though, that you have that option! I don't, sadly. I tried Dan's regimine and it made my acne worse if anything, and yes, I gave it several months. I've bene on BP many many times and it only worked the first time semi-well, then has never worked again since.
At this very moment, my acne is not too bad. I pass for normal and no longer get comments about how bad my skin looks from my family, however I am going back because I am being proactive about the situation...Better to get the acne sooner than later, and it seems to be coming back. I've been off of it for about 5 months now and it's just now starting to get to the point where I've thought about making an appointment, before that, it wasn't nothin' to worry about. 10 months with clear skin and all I had to do was take 2 pills per day for a couple months? Yes please. Totally worth it.

its bad to be concerned of the side effects? Like a few people have shown. they took it, now they regret it, and they're doing the same thing im doing anyways. It's a risk I didnt want to take. Simple as that. I could probably have been clear with a perfectly functioning body, but I could have had my acne come back, along with joint pains, and a bunch of other stuff. Who knows. I just didnt wanna risk the side effects.
It's like that's coming into your ears, getting knocked around a bit, then coming right out the other side. SO im concerned about the health issues. SO WHAT.
Regardless of if you are covered under law, some jobs require physical tests which amputees cannot complete which will restrict them from getting their desired job.

The positives of Accutane far outweigh the rare and temporary side-effects. But, the scarring caused by acne is common and is permament. The choice is clear.
the negatives rare but severe side effects outweights the uncertain but mostly positive effects of accutane anyday. Whether people choose to risk getting the rare but severe side effects, is completely up to them

It's cool that you got clear without it and im happy for you, but for many people that just does not work. You gotta take risks sometime. And accutane was a risk I feel is worthy of giving a try. Just my .02
and i respect that. i wasnt against anybody taking it, considering they understood the risks that could be involved. soooo i still dont know why people are still posting here.
i am proud of my baby for lasting this long though haha.

Second of all take accutane. (unless your acne already cleared on it's own. i was too lazy to read the whole thread.)

For someone so anti-tane, this is very suprising. Especially as giving someone else any type of medication is extremely dangerous.
Glad you're acne free now though
