I just got some more generic bp gel today but after looking for it on the web i'm am scared to use it. I went to the laboratories website to see the ingredients and it's exactly the same as that PanOxyl stuff people have been talkign about. It's a 2.5% bp gel. Someone was arguing about how this stuff was bad or something earlier and now i'm scared to put it on my face when it's relatively clear. Anybody who can either help me or calm me down would be much appreciated.

What did the person say the side effects were? If it has the same ingredients, then chances are it's worth at least trying. So go for it, and let us know how it went.

Dan-I bought this at my pharmacy. It's just called Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5%
RyanM-Fatman_UK said that it caused him to be really red and itchy. He said it didn't work for him and a lot of other people he had heard who used it had said the same thing.

Try it... it was me who said that...
... which if you READ IT... you'll see i don't bad mouth it at all. I jus point out the FACT that it doesn't work for most people's FACES that review it.
Why would i use it on my shoulders if i thought it was utter crap?
So, with that said... try it, you might be one of the lucky ones... an if you are, then dam you coz you'll save a LOT of money since u wont have to resort to the more expensive BP's.

5% is normally too harsh for most peoples skin, an 95% of peeps who try Panoxyl HATE it, it causes dry, itchy, flaky, red skin an sometimes a slight chemical burn... bit like the one i got from usin it a bit too much, heh.
But i got some of the 5% Panoxyl Acnegel last week an it's cleared up about 95% of the problems on my shoulders, jus dried it all out... lovely.
All i can say is you're lucky that it's workin for your face, coz it doesn't for most, AND it's cheap as hell.

In fact, if anyone has a problem with me stating this problem as a FACT, then do a search on Panoxyl in these forums... i'm sure you'll find a few people say the same.

Please look at the back of the tube and let me know who manufactures it. I'll look into it.

That seems like bad mouthing to me BUT i will try it out anyway. I plan on using it on my face as my shoulder/neck area is clear. I had just read your post on this and that is what prompted me to become scared of it. So have most people only used thi stuff for areas other than their faces?

Did you need a prescription to get the generic BP?

Yes, i need a prescription for this stuff. I dunno why but i do.
Dan-It's manufactured by Stiefel Laboratories, Inc. (I already checked their website out and this is where i found it had the same ingredients as panoxyl).
The logo on the tube though is Glades Pharmaceuticals, LLC.
Kareto-It's generic in the sense that it doesn't have a major name on it. It uses the same ingredients but it just doesn't have the same name.

Okay, i just used some generic panoxyl stuff on the under-part of my chin (just incase of redness and overl nastiness). So far no pain at all and it hasn't turned the skin red immediately. I will try this for a week or so to see if any thing abd happens. Hey dan, did you find out any more info on this?
