I dont really have bad acne, just little pimples and stuff once in a while, but i just wash my face a lot with washes and use the pads. Now that i know some about acne after reading all this stuff, i just bought some benzoyl peroxide pads (the new Str-Dex Power Pads) and im just gonna wake up in the morning, wash my face, use a pad, then at ngiht, same thing. The reason i dont wanna use a moisturizer is because i have NEVER used one before, even thoguh i used to clean my face a lot, and it never really peeled.
Do you guys think not using a moisturizer, and just a pad in the morning and night, (with two washed), il be straight? Does moisturizing really help "prevent acne" or is it jsut used to make the dry skin less dry and noticable?
Thanks for any help. Hit me back.
do you really need a moisturizer?

Yes, in a way moisturizes does help prevent acne. If you wash your face w/ a medicated cleanser, and use those pads.. which are strong.. [anything stridex makes my face peel] then your going to need a moisturizer. If you dont, then your skin will get so dry that your body will make extra oil to compensate for the dryness, leading to more breakouts. Your skin will also look worse, so im suggesting you DO use a moisturizer even if it is something like aloe vera gel. [buy the 100% gel].. rub some evenly over your face and sleep in it.. it WILL NOT clog your pores and its great for your skin. HIH.

i used those pads for awhile before i found the 2.5% BP gel, they didnt really irritate me at all. i never got dry skin from it, so id just try it and see what happens. if you do get irritation, you really should use moisturizer.

If you don't want to use a moisturizer you should at least used a sunscreen to help protect against sun damage.

Careful about overcleaning. It sounds like you think that washing your face more implies that you will "wash away" your acne, which isn't really the case. Overwashing can in fact irritate your skin a great deal and make acne a lot worse. Just remember to wash your face gently and only in the morning, at night, and after a workout in the shower if you exercise. The Stridex pads are 2.5% BP, but I don't know if they'll dispense enough BP on your face to be effective. A thick layer of BP (up to a certain point) is more effective than a thin layer of BP, and with those pads, I don't know if you'll be able to get enough BP on your face to really clear up your skin. On the other hand, since your acne sounds really really mild, maybe the pads will be enough. I think moisturizer is probably optional for you since the pads wouldn't put enough BP on your face to cause the redness and peeling that users of cream/lotion/gel BPs experience, but it does improve the appearance of your skin, in my opinion.

Fruit of the Earth aloe vera is working well for me as a moisturizer, and not causing any breakouts. If anything, it seems to help prevent breakouts, though I haven't used it enough to be sure.
