Im going to remain nameless, im 14, and i have a proposition/theory

zinc is necessary to restore new skin cells, lack of it is noted to cause lessions.put two and two together...does this depletion of zinc contribute massively to peoples acne condition?

plus, masturbation. also noted to cause acne. when occursingyou lose zinc. well i mean when our hormone levels increase, does the amount of masturbating?ultimately we lose a lot of zinc.

I sometimes wonder:in this world we have done amazing things in science and chemistry. It always phases me why something that sounds so easy and simple as to curing acne, has not been done. I mean we have cures for many many diseases and disorders...why not acne? All you would have to do is find a way to stop over producing oil, or moniter hormones. does that sound extremely complex? not really, if you compare it to some of the things modern docters and scientist have accomplished. I dont know, just a thought.

OR it could be a devious plot from the skin medication industry. i mean i think the real enemy here is pro activ solutions! I knew those dermatologist Rodan and Fields looked suspisious. I bet somewhere on this earth they already have found a cure for acne, but they're covering it up so they can keep selling products to desparate vulnerable teenage/adult acne sufferers.Dispicable, isn't it? Lets go on a rampage and take out Kathy Fields and mrs. Rodans for wasting my 40$ and undoubtful hopes. What a snot (this last paragraph was all in frivolous joking of course, althogh, there may be some hidden truth in this matter. *shrugs* )

all i know is ive given up pizza, coffee, soda, milk, all meat, and caffeinated beverages- and nothing really affected my acne progression. So unless you go all-out insane and give up anything not plucked form a tree or the ground, diet has little to no effect, at least on me

Well what more could i know. I am merely a teenager with an 8th grade education who happens to be dealing and suffering from a common problem. which also leads to more slightly common problems:such as minor depression spells, anxiety, lack of sleep, lack of self confidence, and lack of energy/motivation. But ill deal, and get over it. Everyone else does, so i should shut up and be grateful i have two legs and teeth, and not some rare asian tounge disorder that developes neon green fungus on my tounge. lol

who wants to bet me at least 25% of words in here are misused or mispelled biggrin.gif

Unfortunately, as a 14 year old, you are unlikely to really do anything to ultimately control the onslaught of acne. Your hormones are going out of control and will continue to do so for at least a couple of years before you find new balance. Acne is a result of that imbalance and despite all the treatments in the world, at this stage in your life it will be especially difficult to really 'cure' or 'treat' your acne. Diet is also unlikely to have a profound effect at your age, but don't let that trick you into eating like crap. Having a good diet is good for your body in general and will help your body to heal and stay healed.

that said, you can do things to curb the development or otherwise help healing and preventing scarring, but don't expect any single treatment to stop all your acne from forming.

Zinc deficiency has been linked to acne development. Personally, I think that it is caused by when the skin has active lesions(pimples..etc.) it is expending more resources towards healing and trying to stay healthy.

So, Zinc isn't the only thing that can be deficient.

Zinc is responsible largely for healing, scar prevention and the functions of the sex organs(including assisted hormone regulation).

At your age it is probably not safe to be supplementing with zinc anymore than 40mg a day. It is also crucial to supplement 2mg of copper if you intend to supplement zinc for long periods of time, failure to do so can result in a copper induced anemia which is a very serious condition.

As for 'cures' to acne. Accutane is basically a 'cure' it cuts off oil production and effectively prevents any new acne from forming. The problem is, that it doesn't necessarily address the source of the issue and when people get off accutane their acne sometimes comes right back.

Vitamin B5 is more interesting to me as a 'cure', it effectively regulates oil production, reduces oil production levels and assists with metabolization and hormone regulation. It worked well for me, but there is some controversy about taking high doses. I wish there were more studies done.

But remember, you're only 14, you've got many years of hormonal craziness ahead of you, and for all you know, your acne will clear up on its own.
