Hey there,
I don't know if this is only my case, but I'm almost convinced that my acne is exacerbated by smoking. Not that I smoke much, in fact, never more than 4-5 cigarretes per week and usually by night. However, when I wake up the next morning I eventually find my pores to be clogged and, if I have a lession, I feel like it had worsened a little bit overnight. Almost a pattern. I honestly haven't found a compelling relationship between diet and acne, for example, but what about acne and the smoking habit?. Thoughts?... Thx.
David.

This is a worry of mine too. I'm a smoker, not too heavy of one (maybe 10 a day, max!) but I've been smoking since I was 14 or so, and I've had acne forever. I went to get microdermabrasion one time and they basically suck stuff out of your pores and the derm knew I smoked, she said she could see the yellow residue from smoking in my pores! Gross eh? Anyway, I also notice I break out near my mouth, which could have something to do with smoking. I think the biggest agrument is that smoking cuts off oxygen to your skin and your skin needs oxygen to reproduce cells and repair itself. It's been proven that people who smoke heal slowly from cuts etc., so it must be the same thing for acne. Bottom line, it probably makes an impact, yet I'm still smoking so I should really be listening to my own voice of reason. Damn cigarettes!!!

I really dont notice if i break out more or anything when i smoke... What i notice is when i stop smoking my skin breaks out a bit then goes away...But when i start back up no break out... Not sure why... SMoking doesnt effect the skin to long or anything from geting oxygen....All smoking does is limit the amount of oxygen in the cells.... Maybe if you blow smoke on your face then it will cause you to break out.... I always buff up ward.. Tilt neck back and let it out with a big blow so none of it goes in the face... I only smoke probable 1 cigeratte a day thought or 2 depends how much college work im doing.

I'm a pack and a half smoker a day (that's 30 ciggerrates) and yes, I'm pretty sure it makes it worse. If nothing else, that much smoke washing over my face cannot be good for it!

certainly, smoke is no good for your skin - it is bad for all of your organs.
when i am around smokers, i feel my skin gets worse. i try to avoid it but so many friends smoke it can become difficult.

quitting smoking is like trying to get rid of my red marks, impossible...
i smoke 5-10 cigs a day, been smoking for about 10 months, use to dip before that (high school baseball, what can i say...)

i am 19 now and have smoked since i was 14
from 14 up till 17 and a half i never really even had a millimeter bump on my face even though i smoked cigarettes weed and drank alcohol occasionally
now i have mild acne, and i think its due to the years of constant smoke
