Is it because it's pushing on the nerve endings in the skin? If so, I can understand why cysts and papules hurt, but some whiteheads hurt like b*tch too.

I just had a small whitehead on my hamstring (of all friggin' places ) and it hurt like crazy when I sat down. Why??? It was just a small one...

Whiteheads don't hurt. Period. If it hurts that means it's an inflammatory lesion (probably a small pustule). Pustules have white heads, because the pus is visable through the thin layer of korneocytes covering it...it has a white head, but it's not really a "whitehead". Whiteheads are tiny flesh colored bumps or closed comedoes. They give a rough sandpaper like appearence to the skin..... They don't even have white heads....it's all so confusing.....

Actually if it was on your leg, it's probably not a true acne lesion, but rather an ingrown hair or infected hair follicle.....they can be tiny and painful or huge an painful....either way they are just painful.....
